These are nice speakers but they do lack in the bass department I would suggest a good quality subwoofer for them. They do sound good with the bass turned down on them and they can go incredibly loud but for $189 you can get a pair of Paradigm Atom's which are a great little speaker and they can handel alot of bass for a 5,1-4 woofer! If you could pick half star i would pick 3-1/2 but i'll just put 4 because they have been good to me by not blowing up!

The Mission 731i is a steal at $249! Competes well with any of the more expensive mini-monitors I've owned or heard over the yearsincluding Spendor ,JM Labs Microns, PSB Stratus Mini and even the Totem Model One. This speaker is most similar to the Totem Rokk
which I found fantastic at $700+.

Soundstage extends well outside of the speaker location with excellent depth. Bass in a monitor at this size and price-point is remarkable. I
would agree with Stereophile that this is not a speaker to be played at low volume levels for good effect. This speaker is, in my opinion, a
winner!

The 731s are pretty good speakers I'd say. Many complain of its lackness in bass but I think otherwise. The reason? Having owned the 731s for nearly three years now, I've only managed to realize its real potential about weeks back. Why after all these years you'd ask? Because it is only weeks back since I've moved to a bigger room. The trick lies in the room and your listening position. With careful measurements made by my audiophile dealer, and with proper damping factors, my 731s were finally laid to rest on the perfect spot powered by a Denon PMA-560 integrated amplifier, an Arcam Alpha 8 CD player, Nordost Blue Heaven interconnects and speaker cables.
My dealer brought over his specially encoded BASS CD and tried it out. Nevertheless, I was finally convinced it was the previous room that made my 731s sounded plain and bassless. Its bass extensions were deep and tight and my dealer himself was surprised at how the 731s performed. Even in his listening room, he claimed that he has never heard the 731s go so low. Could it be that my room is the perfect room for the 731s? I'm yet to discover more of its hidden talents and will keep you guys further informed. Only one advise...The 731s are certainly no "joking-around" speakers for its size and price.
