Klipsch RF-7 Floorstanding Speakers

Klipsch RF-7 Floorstanding Speakers

DESCRIPTION

The RF-7 Reference Series flagship loudspeaker was designed to provide the highest level of two-channel and multi-channel audio as well as home theater surround sound (with the matching RC-7 center channel, RSW-15 subwoofer and RS-7 rear channel speakers), but its striking metal drivers and real-wood enclosure also make it a desirable complement to any decor. Available in three beautiful furniture-grade veneers — black, maple or cherry — each handcrafted, real-wood finish is unique.
The RF-7 utilizes a combination of professional grade materials and advanced horn technology for a smooth response and consistent coverage pattern. The new Reference Series flagship’s 1.75" titanium dome compression driver is coupled to an 8" square Tractrix® Horn and powered by an unusually large, video-shielded 22oz. magnet. This combination offers the speed and accuracy needed to deliver clear, accurate, non-fatiguing high frequencies and upper midrange frequencies at any volume level. This design approach is so efficient that it virtually eliminates the most common cause of driver failure — excessive energy.

Strength:

Very efficient, would sound great with a 50 watt amp, but is very capable of being driven by much bigger amps without distortion even at very high levels

Weakness:

Rather heavy, 92 pounds or so, plasitc feet and grills are prone to break if not careful, the speakers themselves have very few weaknesses if any

Very enjoyable speaker for the audio enthusiast or audiophile even though most people couldn't justify the price, Hey you get what you pay for. And with the performance of these speakers you are getting a pretty good deal. Very efficient and superb clarity even at high volumes. These will definitely fullfill your expectations if you like your music loud and clear like I do. They also perform very well as HT system.

Strength:

Power! Nice wood finish (cherry). The horn is crystal sharp and the bass are tight.

Weakness:

None, Big?

This pair is my second, sold my first pair to buy 7 RF-3s, but again sold these to buy a new pair King Of The Mountain speakers RF-7! Can't understand people that these have none strengths. Well, I love these speakers, and they get excellent reviews here in Norway! The speakers can be a little harsh in the beginning, but after 400-600 hours playing, the speakers arent no longer harsh. Ofcourse you have to choose the right kind of cables and eletronics. I use Marantz SR8200 to drive my horn and a Acurus a250 2x250w on the bass. This combination works very good. For RF-7 owners (all Reference people) that are not happy with these, be patient, it will get perfect when you have played about 600 hours. Then the fun begins.

Strength:

Deep bass (even without a Sub), High sensitivity (will deliver even with low watt receivers), Wood finish Great for Movies & Music, 5 year warranty

Weakness:

Can be harsh at high levels with a bright receiver (Sony, Yamaha) so, match it accordingly (NAD, Rotel, Marantz) , Cheap grilles, plastic feet, but I did not buy the speaker for these qualities.

Excellent speaker period. You will not be dissapointed go and have a listen. Be aware that to get the Klipsch 5 year warranty you have to purchase from a certified dealer which you cannot get from online dealers.

everything

These are great speakers. You can play them as loud as you want and they will keep on going with no problems. I had some Cornwall years ago that were the same way. Knocked a picture of the wall with the volume. When I went to buy new speakers I knew I wanted Klipsch when I went in and after a short match against some Bostons, I just bought them.

Strength:

What else needs to be said? You show me a speaker that competes heads-up with these babies for a comparable price, and I will show you a river that flows uphill without a pump.

Weakness:

None found, None expected.

These cabinets rock. Clear, breathtaking sound that is absolutely addictive. Low volumes, high volumes - totally irrelevant. I run them matched with the complimenting RC-7/RS-7 series along with two subwoofers and I'll say this - my sheetrock is just a'popping nails. But the sound?? Totally CLEAN. And EFFICIENT - read the specs, then throw them away. Your ears will tell you the truth. You want mediocre sound, with little discrete "toy" speakers that fade into your room decor? Fine, go live on Sesame Street. The Klipsch are for those who prefer to design their room around their gear, not vice versa. I did, and I shed no tears. Take your game up a notch, and do what I did. Pledge your allegiance to Klipsch. If not, have someone pass you a box of kleenex - you'll need it eventually. Now dry your eyes and get out of the way - I'm headed back to my den.

You name it!!!!

Weakness:

Feet are not very well made, but I didn't buy these for their feet.

Absolutely breathtaking. I can go on and on about other speakers, and how they rate against these speakers.Instead I'll just say that these speakers are excellent. I don't think I have even come close to breaking my pair of RF-7"s in yet, and they keep getting better and better with time. Very few speakers have I owned that I can say that about!!!
