Strength:

Clarity, Sound stage, Very effcient speakers, ect.....

Weakness:

Klipsch forgot to obey the laws of physics. Bookselfs aren't supposed to sound this good.

The whole Klipsch referance series is amazing. I went with the RB-5 over the RF-3 due to the better woofer and Mahogany cabinet design. And beleive me that just because the Rb-5's are bookshelf speakers doesn't mean they sound like them. These sound better then many towers I have listened to. Basicly the RB-5's are the RP-5's without the sub. Hmm RB-5 800$ the RP-5 $2000. The choice wasn't hard I just bought the RB-5's with a complete surround system for less the the price of the RP-5's alone. And the KSW-12 sub adds more then suffient base to the system.

I was able to pick up all my sourounds as a package deal for $1500 at Tweeter. I got this price after much searching and taking advatage of tweeters price matching policy.

Front: RB-5 500$ MSRP 800$
Center: RC-3 250$ MSRP 350$
Rear: RS-3 400$ MSRP 550$
Sub: KWS-12 350$ MSRP 499$
Total: 1500$ MSRP 2199$

You might be able to find better deals through internet ordering but you might not be able to return after 30 days.

Strength:

dynamics, soundstaging, tonal balance, voices, there are too numerous to mention all.

Weakness:

Bass could be a tad more extended and deeper but who cares.

I thought i would never find a monitor speaker that would really sound consistently good. What a find. Many audiophiles will never discover this gem because it is made by Klipsch. This will be a shame. If they only knew. This speaker has a tonal rightness that many audiophile brands could learn from. It images exceptional and has great sounstage depth and width. It never sounds bright or harsh unless of course the recording is that way. It has high sensitivity but its load is not friendliest to small power triodes. You need at least 40-50 watts of push pull tubes or 70 watts of solid state to really make these speakers sing. Two months of break in is absolutely required or 200 hours. I am using a vac avatar integrated with a rotel 991
cd player and rega 35 turntable. i have found that goertz interconnect and ag2 speaker cables have mad a great synergistic match. this speaker has so many special talents
but more in a subtle nature. my hats of to klipsh. a classic in the making. but who will discover it?

Strength:

superb soundstage,"makes you sit up and listen"

Weakness:

absolutely none

I was looking for something to replace the anemic Kef's I owned and when I auditioned the Klipsch, it was like coming home.
Best monitors I've heard, better in midrange than the KG 5.5's I've owned. I'm no audiophile but I do get tired of hearing about "accuracy" from the experts. The "accurate" speakers I've listened to (BW,Kef,Meadowlark,Kirkstraeter and so on) put me to sleep.
Give these a listen, sure the horns are bright but when I've listened to live music, the instruments are "bright and clear in tone."

Strength:

midrange, dynamics, lifelike portrayal of instruments, ability to play loud and not distort, use of tubes compliments or solid state.

Weakness:

impedance a little low.

this a follow up review to a very amazing and capable loudspeaker. this speaker sounds simply realistic with the right amplification. i am using it with a 15 watt antique sound labs integrated and an arcam a85 integrated. either amp sounds wonderful. the midrange is glorious. no other speaker i have tried sounds so true to the timbre and color of real instruments. again not many audiophiles will even know about this lost jewel. it simply shines among the hypeout there and must be listened to at home with patience to fully enjoy its compelling and magical qualities.

Strength:

these speakers can play how lound you want them to play , and they are the clearest speaker I'v ever heard on voices and guitar and other instruments.

Weakness:

they are a bit hard to place

i bought these speakers two weeks ago now to replace my Bose 901's whitch i thought was a really good speaker and it is , but compared to the klipsch it is nothing .the klipsch speakers handle all types off music beacuse its fast and correct and the horn reproduce all instruments and voices lovley .but to get the most out of the speaker you need a sub i use the ksw15 and that is a perfect combination .

Strength:

CLarity, LOUD, looks, all around a great speaker

Weakness:

none

This speaker has amazing clarity and can get as loud as the amp you have pushing it can go. The music is crisp and clear, the RB-5 has everyting you should expect in a speaker without a subwoofer. The bass does not get extremely low of course but it is tight and fast, souds great! I have an Onkyo TX-8511 and a Velodyne CT100 to compliment my klipsch speakers. These are the best sub 1000 dollar speakers i have heard and highly recommend them.

Strength:

Looks, Highs, Bass

Weakness:

None so far!!!

Using the RB-5's as surrounds with KLF-20 fronts and KLF-C7 center. These completed my speaker package and my how they compliment my system. DVD-Audio is nothing less than spectacular and DVD's in 5.1, well lets just say you'd have to hear it to believe it. Using a Rotel RSP-985 pre-amp and a Carver AV-705x power amp. Waited for the right price and I'd say $399 was a steal. Couldn't be happier

Strength:

Clear mids and highs. Wider dynamic range.

Weakness:

While much better than the synergy series bookshelf speakers, they still lack the warm lows I perfer.

Since my wife wouldn't let me keep my original purchase, the SP-1 towers, I went back and got SB-3's matched up with a KWS-12 subwoofer, and I was OK with that for a while, but I was already spoiled by the range of the towers. So I decided to try the RB-5's. What an improvement! I ran the RB-5's throught the sub and got more bass than I needed! These are so much more efficient. Now when I listen to music or DVD my couch serves as a messager. Awesome clarity, great for watching DVD.
If you can't have powered towers these are the best thing out there.

Great little speaker... found out that the RB-5 II isn't even shipping yet so the only 'revised' RB bookshelf speakers are the RB3 out there. The new internal wiring doesn't make as much of a difference as I would have liked to believe it did.

Compared to Paradigm Studio 20, the vocals aren't as rich, but these go louder and are more dynamic. The Studio 20's bass seems to go deeper with synthesizers while the Klipsch seemed deeper listening to bass guitar. Listening preference really. I thought the Studio 20 was better with a Citation 7.0, while the Klipsch is better with a HK Signature 2.0 preamp. Really, it's equipment matching though the Citation is $1500 more than the Signature. Still, this speaker can definitely run with the best of the sub $1000 bookshelf speaker market.

For reference, I use a Parasound HCA-1500A power amp.
