These speakers are connected to my Klipsch sub-woofer KSW 15 and so that is why it sounds very good. When I disconnect it from the Sub. it didn't sound that great as I praised it several weeks ago. It doesn't sound better than Polk RT800i, however, the design looks better. It is far below B&W DM604-S2 in sound quality. But 300/pair I am happy with it. If I don't have the Sub-woofer I would return it and buy the Polk RT800i or I would spend more money to buy the B&W DM604-S2. My system components are: Adcom GTP450,GFA5400 and GCD700 about 3-4 years old.

I would just like to make a change to my review which is two down from here, I replaced my custom built rears with Klipsch KSB 1.1's as of yesterday(1/25/01). I just wanted to add that in, I am officially complete for now.

Typical Klipsch balls, speed, and detail, but this time with a nicely done midrange as well -- and this from a ProAc owner, so I knows me some midrange!
For the clearest and most open sound, try reversing the wiring on the woofers (a simple job, just unscrew the woofers and reverse the clip-connected wires), then place the speakers on plain 16" X 16" (give or take) patio blocks. The re-wiring will put the woofer into what sounds to me to be the more correct acoustical phase alignment with the tweeter, and the patio blocks with raise the tweeters to ear hight, and provide the speaker with more stable footing (and therefore tighter bass).

Well, i first went out to tweeter, etc to look around and gape at those high end speakers, when i saw a mad sale on klipsch ksf 6 (or something low like that) i was blown away at the price of only $300. So i grabbed a pair and took the babies home, i didnt expect much bass from the 8in subs but was very anxious to hear the horns.
WOW, with my harman kardon avr10, with 40watts/ch i made 5 of the 6 night-light plugins in my house fall out of the power outlets.
I am extremely happy with the bass and i dont think ill ever need a bigger bass driver then what i have now. The horns are VERY clean and crisp with responses as tight as ahhhh, never mind. Its tight.

Now i have a pair of Ksf 8.5 and again im EXTREMELY happy with them for the $600 bucks i paid. Music listening is a pure pleasure.
Recap:

Highs:
Extremely Crisp highs and tight lows.
Incredible bass
VERY well constructed and long lasting even though i abuse the hell out of
em.
AMAZING efficiency, 40 watts = GREAT BASS!
Lows:
Be careful with these speakers in hardwood finished rooms, with their
incredible efficiency you can destroy your ears from the high frequency
response of the horns, they are slightly bright.
CArpeted rooms sound amazing, the carpet absorbs any glare.

although the rating is 5 stars i would like to make it a bit more
precise, i would give them about a grade of 92-95 < slightly bright.

for the money, GRAB EM!!!

I got a great deal on these speakers from Magnolia Hi-Fi, the pair only cost me $330. I was impressed with the speaker from the first listen but noticed that the tweeter in the floor model was blown, perhaps from careless customers, but nonetheless, I got a new pair in the box for the same price and am loving every minute of usage. I am running them along with the Velodyne CT-100 10" sub and the combo probably requires the least expense for the sound and capabilities. The receiver I have them hooked up to is the Kenwood VR-2080 with DTS, AC-3 and all the other goodies. For only a 2 way speaker these Klipsch offer great all-around sound, from the extremely clear highs (from a horn tweeter) to the nice tight bass, and well rounded mids. I use 12 guage Monster Cable for my connections and am pleased with the setup thus far. I can't wait to get the theater aspect of my system completed. I hope you can enjoy these speakers as much as I have. They are the best buy for the money.

Dear Audio Listeners, After having my very fine Jensons hooked to my Kenwood receiver for maybe 10 years and listening to the audio definition of my friends' systems, I decided to have a look for the highs that I knew I was missing. I made the rounds and listened to dozens of speakers in the range of $300-$800/pair. The Klipsch(s) were the only ones I went back to listen to more than once. I bought the 8.5s home on a trial/money back basis (this specific model was on sale for $400/pair!) as the fellows stressed I should experience the sound with my own tunes in my own home. The experience is and continues to be a revelation of things to be heard, especially in the high range. I am more than pleased from every aspect, pop music definition, power to elevate to the dynamic extremes of classical, and of definition of my TV and VCR movie signals.

I baught the 8.5 klipsch speakers about a year ago. I have been Moving alot and had to try alot of diffrent rooms. I got them for $600 and it was money well spent I had a pair of JBLs and the diffrents in sound qulity is overwellming, I had them wired to too diffrent amps, a pretty cheap aiwa and a sony the awia I think did not have enough power to run them real loud with out distortion but the sony that puts out 100watts can do the job. I can make every one leave the room screaming when I really let them do their job. The bass is exclent and the Highs are just as good with clear mids. They have a smooth sound to them so you could play them alot. Although I have run into some problems I push them pretty hard so sometimes the wires on the woofer cross and it shorts out my whole system and I have to take them apart and fix them. Plus the woofers like to pop when I really push some bass through them. and the finsh was not as nice as I would have like it, but I'm sure that not all of them have these little problems. I really put speakers to the test when I have them and overall these have held up pretty good and have some exclent sound to them. I am deffently a klipsch person now. I Can't wait till I get the new line of Synergy towers I'm going to get the SP-1 for $1100. But for the 8.5s I give them the thumbs up they are very exclent loudspeakers for the price, however if you are thinking of buying them I would go listen them and some other speakers before you buy the best way to tell if you going to like a speaker is to listen to them with the music that you listen to. But if you do buy them i think that you will be very impressed with their sound.
