I have the klipsch ksb1.1's. I have had everything from bic, infinity, cambridge, and even bose. None of these other speakers can even come close to the Klipsch!Best speaker made especially for dolby digital.By the way, the bose 301's were the worse of the bunch!

I didn't have room for floorstanding speakers (I really wanted to get a pair of KSF 8.5s)and no budget for a subwoofer, so the 3.1s looked like the best alternative. My greatest concerns were (1) that the speaker would create enough bass so that a subwoofer wouldn't be missed too greatly, and (2) that their 94 db efficiency rating would make the most from my equipment.
I've had the 3.1s for several weeks now, and I am extremely impressed with their performance. I'm running a Harman/Kardon AVR20 II receiver, and H/K FL8300 CD player. These speakers make the most of the Harman's relatively low power, generating strong, clear bass down to 45 Hz. Their frequency response is flat throughout most of the range--I read elsewhere it's within 4 db from 50-12k. I listen to mostly acoustic music (guitar and classical), which the tiny horns do an amazing job with, but they also work well with more rock-oriented stuff, too. Highs are a tiny bit bright, but not offensively so. One of my buddies, who was aghast at the purchase of a non-3 way speaker, was amazed at the quality of sound and the size of the sonic image these things generated. These things flat-out ROCK.

The 3.1s pull double duty as home theater speakers through an older (93 vintage) JVC stereo VCR--and do quite a good job of it. There is enough bass present that flight and space combat scenes from Empire Strikes Back(THX version)can be felt through the floor and furniture--this from a speaker that's barely 18" tall. Dialogue is extremely lifelike. I'm amazed that so much can come out of such small speakers.

Combine that performance with a $302 price tag (delivered to my door via netmarket.com) and these things can't be beat! I am VERY pleased with my purchase.

I bought these klipsch speakers because I wanted better sound and bass production than I was getting from my infinity speakers. They have an extremely high sensitivity (94db), so they were good for my underpowered receiver. For the money and size, these are the best speakers you can get.

Klipsch Synergy Bookshelf 3.1. I am not gonna write a whole lot. These are the best sounding bookshelf speakers that I have encountered for <$400 street price. Tremendous clarity, clean, true to the recording, well built. They are a great choice for a small den or listening room, budget fronts for home theater, college dorm room or small apartment. The horns provide crystal clear undistortable sound, very high efficiency, and good bass for bookshelf speakers with front loaded port. I purchased a pair for a family member, and spent the whole day auditioning them on my system. They are my choice for a 2nd system speaker. I have Klipsch KLF 20's on my main system. Give them a listen.

Price, overall performance

Bass could be deeper

This is a great product and value at $200 per pair. These speakers will handle most requirements of all mid level audio systems. I replaced a pair of bookshelf B&W's and the sound is rich and clean, although the bass can be weak at times.

Was interested in purchasing Bose 301, but when i went to a hi-fi shop, they said Bose products were terrible. I asked why they don't sell Bose, and the salesman replied "We only sell speakers that sound good". This are the best sounding speakers for under $500. I have them set up with an Infinity BU-120 and everyone who has listend to them are AMAZED!!!

Good name - quality components

Weakness:

Overall sound dynamic

I have not purchased these, but demoed them at a local store that was closing them out at $100 each. Sounded like a great price for a good brand so I went down to pick up a pair. After listening to them compared to the others in the same room - Mission, Boston, and other Klispch models - I determined that this line is not as good as I would have expected from this manufacturer. They sounded much flatter and less dynamic than any of the others, including a smaller, but newer Klispch model (which was quite good). I still think this is a good brand, but I would recommend that you demo these particular models against others before buying them. The salesman felt the same way - the KSB 1.1, 2.1 and 3.1 are all inferior to the new models, which is why they were discounting them so heavily. They did not sound bad - just not as rich as the others.
