Strength:

cheap, good at low -> medium volumes

Weakness:

only 140W & rattle with too much bass

speakers are ok, rattle too much when turned up loud. they couldn't keep up with the rest of my system, so i put them as one of my rear speaker sets.

as long as you don't need these as any type of "main" speaker, they will do fine.

oh, and i noticed these at my local fred meyers... you are retarded if you buy them at freddy's... they're selling them for over $100 i think... i got these for $52 including shipping.

I've had these speakers for 3 years and am still impressed. I went to Best Buy looking to spend about 300 bucks for a nice bookshelf set of JBL, Infinity, or similar set. Imagine my surprise when I listened to this set of 100 dollar models just for grins. It sounded twice as nice for a third of the price! So I'd guess that would make them 6 times the value! People may give me funny looks when they see KLH on the speakers, but then I'll play them. They are generally impressed...and then I tell them what I paid and I get raised eyebrows.

I've owned these great low budget speakers for two years. The value and performance of these speakers is hard to match. I highly recommend these speakers to anyone who wants hi-fidelty without the high price. Give them a listen and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Strength:

great imaging, PRICE, value, value, value

Weakness:

bass does get muddy at higher volumes, not so "punchy" as i hoped for

How would one go about "stuffing the cabinet with padding?" Seems like an ambitious project, especially for one with no experience with speaker alteration and who notices no way of opening them up. anyone have any advice?

Strength:

Price. Relatively deep bass output (an honest 50Hz, I'd say), reasonably smooth midrange, and great imaging.

Weakness:

Only real complaint (for the price) is the fact that the "KLH" logo on the front can't be spun (useful when the speakers are mounted horizontally).

Acoustic suspension design reduces bass distortion, but makes them less efficient. Since power is cheap, I think that's a good choice.

A great buy. Close your eyes when you listen to 'em. You'll find a flatter bass response down to lower octaves than any of its competition. The midrange isn't perfect, but it's very good. The imaging is also very good. In fact, I like these speakers better than KLH's larger and more expensive models.

These speakers sound infinitely better than those you get with those hoaky mini systems. In fact, they can hold their own with speakers costing 3 times as much. A great place to begin with a starter system.
