Strength:

Sound nice, look nice

Weakness:

Not quite enough bass

These are incredible speakers. I got them online and am really happy with them. I hate to turn them off because they sound so awsome. I leave the cloth grill off because they look so nice. These are the best speakers at the best value.

Strength:

Breathtaking clarity - especially at high volumes, rich and full sound

Weakness:

At $440 a pair...not one.

My S310II's are awesome. While not an audiophile, I do have a critical ear...and I could not be more more pleased with the value of these speakers. I have listened to many more expensive speakers including Yamaha, Polk, Infinity & Bose. Nothing in the sub-$1000 range beats them. I have noticed that the system configuration has a huge impact on how speakers perform. I am running my S310II's with an Onkyo SR600 receiver, Onkyo S555 DVD/CD player, and Monster Z1 cables. I am continually amazed at the clarity and distortion-free playback at high volumes. I honestly do not believe there is a pair of speakers at a better value on the market...and if there is, I would love to hear about it for the next time I go shopping: jonxjizza@hotmail.com

Strength:

One word that really stands out with the speaker is clarity. The speaker sounds extremely natural in all the audible frequency spectrum.

Weakness:

The only weakness I can think of with the S310s is its size. Some people may think they are a little too wide, but again, that is why you can get that superb bass from its 10" woofer.

This is my second review for the JBL S310 speakers. Recently, I bought a Cambridge Audio P500 and C500 amp pre-amp combo, and after 4-5 days of breaking in, I decided to make another critical review of the S310s. All I can say is wow.. the P500 and C500 really taxed the full high-end performance potential of the S310s. Sound was so detailed, rich and warm yet it remained very clear. Rising from a progressive musical scale, the speaker displayed absolutely no weakness as it broadcasted each note unbiasedly and clearly from every frequency. This was a huge improvement over my previous Harman Kardon AVR210 receiver, where the music sometimes disappeared when the music hit the midrange area. I have to say, after a full year of listenting to the S310s with over 4 various sources, these speakers are an exceptional performance to value speakers. I can confidently say they outperform any speakers over the $1000 range such as Paradigm or Klipsch, and I will even go as far as saying they perform at the level of $3000 speakers.

Strength:

Nice cherrywood cabinets. Good looking, great for an AV main chioce.

Weakness:

Muddy base, less than crystal clear on mid's and high's.

These are good speakers for the money, but you get what you pay for with them. Perhaps I'm spoiled by my '82 vintage Yamaha NS70-T's, but compared to the Yamaha's, these speakers have muddy base and the midrange /tweeters are just OK. Perhaps they just need to "break in" but so far they are just very good mains for an AV system, hardly deserving the "studio" designation given them by JBL. If you want to listen to music as it was meant to be played, look elsewhere, but if you want a very good AV main, you can't beat the price.

This is a review for the newer JBL S310II speakers. They are so similar to the 310''s but have a little bit different look. I have owned both so they are both great. But the new ones take awhile to break in. But once they are, they absolutely smoke. I have heard much more expensive speakers, but the difference is only slight. Your amp makes a huge difference as to how these speakers sing. I was running a marantz SR-7200 and it was decent but when I started running the yamaha RX-V3200 that is when I heard the speakers come to life. I love these speakers, I love their clean highs, thumping bass, lack of distortion and their immense size. That''s how speakers are suppose to look. Great job JBL.

Strength:

Great sound, especially based. Excellent price. If you don''t want to spend over $2000 a speaker buy these and listen to music. If you want to blow alot of money and brag to your friends don''t.

Weakness:

none

Wonderful Speakers. Great clarity and sound. Excellent base. You can hear sounds on CD''s that you never have heard before. In fact, you can hear where the performers make mistakes. I listened to other more expensive speakers in the $1000 range in various sound rooms and they always sounded distant and isolated. These don''t. They fill up the room. I listen to alot of Jazz and they are perfect especially with Super Audio CD recordings of Miles Davis and Spyrogrya. My set up: JBL S310 mains JBL S center JBL S26 surrounds JBL PB10 sub Sherborne 1505A amp 200 watts per channel at 80 lbs. Strength:

-Big,deep and clear bass. -You can listen them without headache for hours.(For RAP lovers)

Weakness:

What???????????

I purchased it 2 months ago for 600 US$. I''d looked the best speaker for RAP music for 1 year.I''ve listened many different speakers from different brands. First I listened Jamo E670 and X series. Then Definiteve Tech.,Dali,KEF.Infinity and Canton. So I wanted to listen JBL. I was carrying a cd from 2Pac. When I heared the sound that comes from S310 I was amazed cause there was big and clear bass, very good mid and very good treble. I really wanna buy them but I hadn''t got enough money for them.I decided to buy S38.When I went to buy them there weren''t any S38. I was very unhappy. Salesman made me little discount. Then I bought them. I listened them with Yamaha AX-596.It is really clear bass and good sound.JBL S series is the best choice for RAP and Snoop Dogg thinks so cause I saw S312 in his house on MTV.JBL S Serie really kicks ass!

Strength:

Great speaker for very little money.

Weakness:

NONE

Absolutely great speaker. At first there isn''''t that much bass and the speakers sound tinny but let them break in and the sound completely opens up. The best speaker for under $1000. GEt them at Etronics and you can get a pair for the same price of one elsewhere. Make sure to use good cable like you should with any pair of speakers. (I highly recomend TnT-Audio TrippleT DIY speaker cable. It might be difficult and tedious to make but its deffinetly worth it and best of all its really cheap for how it sounds.) Also the sound of the of the speakers improve if you build short stands for them with spikes and attach the speakers with Blue Tac. This rasies the speakers to a good height and improves imaging and bass. And make sure you place them correctly, they like any speakers won''''t perform well with poor placement. But overall great product with a huge 3d soundstage and great bass.
