Strength:

Build, presence, Detail

Weakness:

Front panel is easily snagged, weight

I bought these off a nextdoor neighbour for £50 with stands 5 years ago.Ran then off an old JVC midi system and couldnt belive the difference.

Now run them from a maranzt setup with super results.
The high notes sound detailed and crisp with midrange strong.
The bass how-ever sounded quite loose until I refoamed the woofers. ($25 dollars for a complete kit from speakerworkers.com)
Bass is now very strong and crisp.
The only downside is the front covers, perfect for a cat scratcher and am unable to get replacements from anywhere.

Very good!

I have two sets of these. Very unusual for the time JBL product. Not glitzy and very flat frequency response. The crossover was helped along with research done on the L212. Used a 10 inch woofer with a 3 inch diameter edgewound voice coil with a 7 3/4lb magnetic assembly. Didn't go as deep as 12 or 15 inch woofers, but was more musical in my opinion. Usual 5 inch mid and 1 inch domnee tweeter.
