Strength:

Good highs, good bass

Weakness:

no midrange

I have had these speakers for quite a while. They are powered by a h/k pa5800 amp, for the price they are the best sounding speakers I have come across. They are also very durable. They lived with me in a fraternity house for a while and held up perfectly.

I just bought a pair of these speakers, and I think their wonderful! They have a good spread mainly due to the unique tweeter horn, and the quality and aesthetics of the actual speakers are a nice touch. I find they do lack bass, but I knew that when I was buying them. I wanted clear and concise imaging that was nt localized, and these speakers fit the bill at their price category. Coupled with a great sub -I have the Velodyne CT-150, yu have an above average set-up indeed! Cudos to JBL for a great set f speakers that wont damage the wallet too much!

Horns blow easily

This is a follow-up from my January post. I have absolutely loved these speakers. But the horns are fragile. When I first brought them home, my wife blew one after about two days. I immediately took the speaker back to BestBuy, and they replaced it. Now, after 8 months, (and a new receiver), both horns are dead. My Onkyo TS-DX777 has never been pushed past THX reference volume. EVER. It's too loud at reference level! Anyway, I am very disheartened. We run 5-channel stereo for CD's, aside from the HT duties.
I wonder if JBL had a bad run of horns.
I have HLS610's for surrounds, and the S-Center; and they are all singing fine.
Now I get to experience JBL's warranty program. Let's see how well they do.
I give a 5 for value, but a 2 for dependability.

Strength:

Crisp clean sound. You'll know what I mean when you hear them.

Weakness:

Not much bass

Great for listening to music or as the front speakers in a surround sound system. If you use these for a home theater system you will have to buy a subwoofer as their bass is practically non-existant. Their price was very attractive and they didn't have the "look" of traditional speakers.

Strength:

good value,play loud

Weakness:

none for $240.00

had hls 610 as fronts, they was not big enough for playing music loud. found hls 620s at best buy for $240.00. i looked at a lot of speakers, couldnot find anything under $300.00 that sounded as good .hls 620 have a much fuller sound and play much louder than the 610s i moved the 610s to the rear.they make a good rear speaker in a 5.1 setup if you dont mind hanging a speaker that big my system hls620s fronts hls610s rears optimus porc511 center denon avr95 receiver paradigm ps 1000 sub denon dcm cd player pioneer dv414 toshiba tp 50h60 tv ar cables
