I bought a pair of CF-150's 12 months ago. When I was shopping for a good pair of speakers I really wanted something that would give me both " in-your-face " Home Theater sound and a delicate, refined type of equipment for the reproduction of classical music. The CF-150's are more for loud, rock music with big BOLD bass reproduction. With the 15" woofers and high sensitivity, a power amp with 100 watts per channel will kick out sound that you can "feel". They are better than any Cerwin Vega's at any price so if you want something " loud & proud " for Home Theater the JBL CF-150's are the thing for you.
On the other hand it wouldn't be the best choice for Classical as would a pair of MISSION or PARADIGM speakers. The JBL's do what they do for better or for worse but for the price of $ 1,000 Canadian, these suckers go the stretch and you won't be dissapointed. Better for rock music & home theater rather than classical music but if you're not fussy get a pair and love them !!

I bought a pair of CF-150's 12 months ago. When I was shopping for a good speakers I really wanted something that would give me an " in-your-face " Home Theater sound and also delicate, refined, sophisticated reproduction forclassical music.

The CF-150's are punchy, powerful, bold, and refined. The bass reproduction is solid, midrange balanced and highs are taugh, crystal clear, with no distortion. With the 15" woofers, 98 db of sensitivity, and a power amp with 100 watts per channel, they will kick out sound that you can "feel". Anything wimpy and you won't get all that these suckers will offer. In my opinion they are better than any Cerwin Vega's at any price so if you want something " loud & proud " for Home Theater the JBL CF-150's are the ticket.

These BIG & HEAVY speakers have two large ports in the rear and boost the low end considerably. They are neither biwirable and have no floor spikes but the shear weight will keep them steady on any surface. The veneer finish is excellent and the build quality is sturdy. In my opinion if you choose Cerwin Vega's over the JBL's then you'll be wasting your money. They're quality speakers and won't dissapoint.

As I also like Classical music, they don't please me as do my MISSION speakers. The JBL CF-150's do best with Rock, Rap, Jazz & Blues are just too " punchy " for someone who also appreciates opera.

For the price i'm very pleased with my purchase and will keep them for many years to come. Buy a pair and love them !

I bought the cf-150's from j and r music world for 475$ for the pair! You honestly get what you pay for cause they were worth more than I payed! They say they go to 32hz which is true cause ive played it with an 30hz note and they went all the way! They are very efficient speakers cause I run them with a 85 watt reciever and i have no problem powering them! For sound they sound great and sound even better when there on concrete!Another feature whcih is very nice is a fuse so that while powering them at a normal rate {average loudness} they cant be blown up cause the fuse will stop it!They are a good speaker to start with or for the last set you ever want to buy!

Strength:

Clear, well defined midrange and highs. Tight, deep bass.
Overall sound is very well blended, bass is not overpowering compared to similar looking speakers(ie CV RE series)

Weakness:

A bit bright at higher levels

Excellent speakers! I was originally running them off of a Yamah R-V503, and they were quite good. I switched to a Yamaha C-2A preamp and an Adcom GFA-555 power amplifier. WOW. The sound improved immensely. The bass had an unbelieveable increase on peaks as well as in general. They sound good off of low power, but they love big amps! In my opinion, it blows away most of the speakers in it's class, annhiliating the similar but slightly cheaper Cerwin Vega RE and E series in all categories.
