i have to agree that these speakers sound great. The tweeter is great, bass is sufficient. Great for movies. I have listen to many speakers like bose, sony, klh and cambridge but by far these are much better. I would not trade my Infinty 2000.6 for any other speaker. Worth every penny which for me came out to 550.00 dollars. Not bad.

I'm not sure if I like these speakers or not. I have them hooked up tomy new Kenwood 1090 VR receiver, and I use them with an Infinity CC3 center,
and two RS 2000.2 surrounds. I also have an Infinity BU-2 sub. The soundstage seems kind of weak when I am listening to CDs or watching movies. The sound
is too localized to the speakers and lacks richness. The RS 2000.2 surrounds
are terrific on their own. They produce rich sound. The 2000.6's seem too
directional. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, or maybe it's the receiver.

I purchased these speakers in the summer for my small home theater. I was very impressed by the sound and clarity. They are the best speakers I have found and the price is great. My advice is if you are putting together a small system these are a great way to go.

I just purchased a Sorround Sound system, a set of the 2000.6 one of the BU2two of the 2000.1 and one CC2, I think these speakers are great the sound is
very clear when I listen to a CD, watching a movie is even better the Theather
like atmosphear it gives is just great. I'm using them with a Onkyo TXSV636
receiver wich is a Good Audio receiver with Pro-Logic Sorround sound,Live,Arena
Theather,Hall. The price is up there but for the quality is really good I paid
519 for the 2000.6, 399 for the SubWoofer BU2, and I got luky with the 2000.1
they had a set of open box and i only paid 89.94!! for two, great!!! the center one
was 269 I sugest You go out there and test all the speakers and you will hear
the diference. You the purchaser has the last word!!!!!!!!

These are by far the best sounding towers for the money, I got 'em for 549 and teamed them with a CC-3 center and RS 2000.3 surrounds creating a completly stunning and realistic home theater for a very modest price. In my opinion these babies get 2 thumbs way up. If you don't got 'em buy em.

Strength:

Picks up detail like a pair fo Snell C5's. Very efficient. Sophisticated clarity. In my opinion, better than the Infinity Composure series when listening to a live recording.

Weakness:

Bass is not too responsive. So much so that I have a PAIR of Infinity BU-2's to make up for it. Come watch a movie at my place!

I recently upgraded from an H/K AVR75 (pretty medium grade stuff) to a H/K Sig 2.0 and 2.1. My CD player is a H/K FL8550 (HDCD). I have noticed that the speakers are even more crisp than before. When disabling the subs, midrange is a little lost in the bass (or vice versa). There is no distortion, just a little less precision than I want it to be, so I recomend a good sub to help with the bass. For the kind of equipment I have running these babys, I still don't plan on replacing the speakers. When I purchased them, I knew that I would need to get a sub - which made it a perfect plan to go full bore and get an entire theater setup. When I upgraded my CD player from an FL8450 to an FL8550, I did notice that the CD player made a HUGE difference in bass response with these speakers. I would attribute that to the speaker's efficiency.

Strength:

Very musical sounding speaker with more than ample bass

Weakness:

The spikes are a pain to set correctly on a carpet

I cannot understand all the negative reviews I have read here of the 2000.6.

I have owned these speakers for over three years and have absolutely no inclination to want to replace them.

The bass response of the 2000.6 is more than adequate for music and Pro Logic. In fact, I had my subwoofer off while playing a movie for my brother and he could have sworn I was using the sub. The only time I use a sub is for DD 5.1 because it is needed for the LFE effects which go below 30 hz.

I have found the 2000.6 better for music (especially classical) than any speaker I have ever owned.

The only difficulty is if you own a wall to wall carpet. You may find yourself having fits until you can get the spikes correctly so the speaker does not wooble.

I know that this speaker is no longer available (replaced by the RS-5). But I felt I had to say something about a speaker I love but which many others complain.

I'll say it again: These speakers have an excellent bass response down to 35 Hz. For HT, practically everybody needs a powered sub!

Good speakers for the cash, but if you're looking for bass, these speakers just don't have it. They definitely need a powered sub to be effective. Otherwise I'm really impressed for the price.

Strength:

Sound, style

I have used these speakers for 3 years and I have not noticed the weak base response that is complained about here. I am using an Onkyo receiver. It goes to show that since about 1/2 the posts are favorable and 1/2 are not, sound is another one of those subjective likes/dislikes. I strongly suggest you take these posts with a grain of salt and do your own listening before you make any choices.

I've just recently discovered this site and am quite surprized at some of the negative reviews for these speakers, as I have owned a pair since Nov. '96 and have been satisfied with their perfomance. When I was auditioning speakers in this price range (I paid $550), I listened to most of the usual suspects (Paridigm, Boston, Mirage, Polk,etc.). All were 2-way towers with dual 6-8" woofers and 1" dome tweeters. They all were pretty good but I thought the Infinity and Paridigm sounded best. And they both were connected to the same integrated amp (Marantz PM57) so they were easy to compare. The salesman described the Paridigm as having better bass response, but what I heard was a more recessed mid-bass. Which speaker was more accurate I don't know, but that really isn't important, either way I perfered the sound of the Infinity. Also the Infinity has far and away the best tweeter of anything in it's price range, smooth, spacious, and detailed without masking other frequencies. Admittedly, I am not a fan of metal dome tweeters. Yes, they sound great on cymbals, but they leave a metallic "after-taste" on everthing else in their range.
During the first year I was using a $400 JVC receiver to drive them. They didn't sound as good as at the dealer's but I just passed it off as differences of room acoustics. I tried 12 gage cables and that was well worth the money. In the next few months I added surround to my system with a Yamaha DSP E492 3 channel amp/processor and the execelent Denon AVD 2000 digital pre/pro. Dolby AC3 and Pro Logic sounded great but I soon realized music didn't sound quite so good. After many auditions I purchased a Marantz PM68 integrated stereo amp and suddenly I remembered why I chose the RS2000.6s. Bass was deeper and more defined, not the 1 note blob of sound I grew accustomed to, mid-range was smooth and musical, and highs were even sweeter yet still detailed. I know this description sounds cliched but it is apt.

This leads me to believe that Infinity should have rated these speakers at 4 ohms. They really come alive with an amp with a solid power supply. On several occations I've had guests ask where I am hiding the sub or if there's one built into the speakers. No one ever made similar such comments with the JVC in the system. No, they won't do the bottom octave, but nothing, at any price with just a pair of 6.5" woofers will. People need to be realistic. Speakers are only as good as the electronics behind them. I recommend them (or the nearly identicle RS-5), but as always, listen for yourself.
