Very impressive bass from such a small floor standing speaker. High's are exceptional as well. Midrange can get a bit bright. I would personally put these up against anything from Paradigm, Mission, Polk, etc. Works well for music and home theater. Can be had for a reasonable price either mail order, or at auction sites.

Bought them at Onsale.com for $201 each. Phenominal! Infinity has always impressed me with their speakers, but these things made me walk with a limp. I love the internet, and the things it brings. Fifteen years ago, before going to college, I bought a set of Infinity Bookshelf speakers. I still have them and they still sound great. These speakers have incredible range, great seperation and the ability to run a seperate amps to the speaker. I hope to get Thirty years out of these. I'll check back and let you know. 5 stars for sure.

Speakers are the best I have heard. Got them on auction a few days ago. I did not realize they had such a big foot print though. My soundstage is just too impressive for my 20 inch TV. My wife insists on having a smaller pair of bookshelf speakers instead. If you want them they are yours for $150 each plus shipping. They are brand new, hardly used and come with 5 year warranty. I hate to part with them, but my wife is winning this battle.
Contact me at srschoen@mindspring.com
I still have the boxes, manual, etc. I can ship anywhere in the 48 states for around $20 each.

Cross posting a review that has as much to do with these stunning speakers as it does to do with my new Dennon 3300
---

okokok ... so I've been waylaid by my office mate about the wonders of Dolby Digital/DTS/voice matched blah blah blah ad nauseum ... I consider myself reasonably informed about music, but I've had to piece my system together on the cheap since I've been a student for the past decade ... just recently graduated, and am earning a paycheck so I figured I'd upgrade the rack ... first, what I have: an old OLD Luxman integrated amp (55W?), Mission bookshelves, Nakamichi Dragon TD, Linn Sondek Turntable (Yes an actual TURNTABLE), Monster Cable and a Fisher 24-CD Player (yeah I know - so sue me), and a host of other inconsequential pieces ... believe it or not this sounded pretty good in my small dorm room and apartments over the years ... comparable to the Rotel, Adcom, Magnepan's that I've heard (but obviously not equal) ... Flash forward ... I recently picked up a raft of Infinity Delta's 60's ($179/per), Delta 40's ($159/per) and a Delta center ($119) for nearly nothing at onsale.com as well as a pair of Bose AM-5's at a yard sale, so now I have to quell the itch and go for the Dolby Digital/DTS as much as I've poohpooed it over the years (toy audio) ... I'd read the reviews here and elsewhere ... settled on three widely disparate units - the Dennon 3300, the Yamaha DSP-A1, 2095 and the Pioneer-27/26TX ... the Dennon cost the least of this bunch ($770 from Uncles Stereo) ... didn't consider the Dennon 5700 or the 3600 because of the big BIG dollars and I don't have such an esoterica audiophile's ear ... listened to all of these units for my smallish attic apartment (sloped ceiling 12x16?) ... admittedly, I didn't hear it in my apartment but in a listening room on a set of Paradigm's ... so hear's ;-) my impression ... the little Dennon "that could" blew away the Yamahas and the Pioneers ... I put in Miriam Makeba and she was "standing in front and off to the right" when I closed my eyes (and I've seen her in real life ;-) ... this system is going to have sound good for both music and HT and so far in all my listening sessions the 3300 blows me away (and I'm a cynic!!) ... DD/DTS whatever ... I'd buy this just for its stereo fidelity!! ... the salesman and all you kind folks talk about component switching, DASC (sp?) whatevers and 7.1 whatchamalcallits ... I'm sold on just the STEREO!!! ... sure the DSP-A1/2095 and the 27/26TX have great DSP modes, Midnight Modes, yaddah yaddah yaddah ... my friend with a 2092 (precursor to the 2095) hasn't switched DSP modes in 2 years ... I'm used to having to get my butt up to change the volume so I don't care about the remote and its "crappiness" and by the time I do, we'll have mind controlled Wintel thougt-screens that allow us to envision the mode/volume/effect we want and "make it so" ... who cares? ... I'm ordering a 3300 for my apartment tonight ... I'll post more later about my impressions when I've rattled the plaster off my walls with a little more Makeba/Duke Ellington/Lillith Faire stuff and let you know ... feel free to e-mail ... 5 flaming hot speakers for what I expect to be an AWESOME investment

---

so its IN!! .. I hooked it up and had to spend the better part of an hour configuring it for my room ... no, hit-power-and-select-the-source business here ... very frustrating ... the sound definitely needs tweaking which is most easily accomplished via on-screen displays ... I wish mucj of this could be accomplished with knobs and dials on the receiver itself, but the spartan nature of the face plate does look nice ... I'm going to deduct one speaker for the difficulty of setup ... it sounds good, better than my Luxman/Mission setup from before, but not great yet ... I'll post more once I have it fully tweaked

---

Roughly one week update ... it sounds good ... no make that great ... awesome Stereo Fidelity ... I have my old system hooked up simultaneously so I have a jungle of wires snaking out the back of my rack ... place looks like a total diasaster, but I wanted to compare the sounds fairly ... So on to the review:

Luxman/Missions - baseline old standby, great transparency, clear imaging, uninspiring but tight bass

Luxman/Infinity 60's - stunning!, all of the above and bass to boot!! ... maybe I should've stay with this?

Dennon/Missions - make my old Luxman sound like a paperweight ... what was I thinking? ... bass still tight and tinny but much less so ... I want to "feel" the bass in my Gap Band CD ;-)

Dennon/Inifinty 60's - Direct Stereo Mode - I must've been deluded before ... sounds like I've been listening from under a pillow until NOW! ... great speakers and the power to drive them ... makes a HUGE difference

Dennon/Inifinty 60's/40's/Center - 5Ch Stereo Mode - this is THE ONLY WAY to listen to my CD's from here on out ... my kness totally melted ... Ella Fitgerald never was so close, I can hear the swallowing she does between breaths in Porgy and Bess as if she was right in front of me ... the music "comes alive" and surrounds you with non-cheesy surround sound (I've heard too much of that)... I dunno how they did it but I like! ... Don't particularly care for the other DSP effects at all (Mono Movie/Rock Arena/Jazz Club/Video Game/Matrix <- all interesting but VERY quickly tiring) ... still playing with the effect setting's and speaker placement, but I live alone and can afford to piddle around with this to my heart's content ... no wife and kids to bother with, and after this who needs them? ;-) ... okokokok so maybe you do but this is a Stereo BBS basically right ;-) ... so roughly $1,400 into this (Dennon and Infinity's) I realize that I have to upgrade my CD player and interconnects (I'm using generic cheapo RCA cable and Low-End Monster Speaker Cable) ... think I'm going to go for a Dennon 2500S but I given the past price history (I haggle like a Bedouin) I have to search around exhaustively for price (please e-mail if you now of a good deal on this unit) ... BTW, you can get the 3300 for $715 from Uncles Stereo (NYC) ... I paid $775 and when I called them back about the deal they gave one of you (which you told me about - Thanks!!), they offered to discount my next purchase ... Hats off to Uncles!!

Strength:

Solid built, superb treble, impressive bass, decent price

Weakness:

Wish the bass could go lower, but for the price it's more than capable.

$199 each plus shipping got me a pair of these from OnSale. Sounds great! I don't even need to increase the treble on my receiver and the highs are crisp and clear. Otherwise, it can be a little too bright. Midrange and bass could be a tad stronger but way more than acceptable for what it is. Manual can be more user friendly, for now it doesn't offer much. It would be nice to have 2 more of these or Delta 60s to form a whole set, but for an apartment dweller like me that's too much of a luxury in space. Go get them, it's way worth it.

When I read reviews, I try to look for the ones that critisizes the product. That way I can see what the faults are and decide if I can live with them. That being said, it was hard for me to decide on Delta40 because there were no bad reviews. NONE. not here and not anywhere. I haven't heard a single person who gave these speakers a bad review. Even a guy at my local hifi store (which sells JBLs only) recommended them to me.

So I auditioned the delta40s for a week at my house. Originally the plan was to get these from an expensive store who allows trials and return them and find a cheaper one. But when I heard the quality and the accuracy, I couldn't bring myself to return them. I rather spend the extra money than part with the delta 40s for a week or so.

These speakers truely belong among the Gods :)

P.S. What da hack is John K on?.. this is Delta40 section. If you have a product that is not listed, you tell the Webmaster. Not put the review where ever you see fit. Idiots like that don't deserve speakers like these.... he'll probably hook them up to his walkman

Strength:

Highs are outstanding, overall sound quality excellent, great sound stage

Weakness:

just a bit short on the bass end, but impressive for an 8"

I've had these speakers for a year and eight months. Got them from Ubid for about 350.00 which I'm still very pleased about. UPS even dropped one as it was cosmetically damaged upon arrival. After numerous conversations with ubid and UPS I gave up on any credit and refused to return them as they of course couldn't ship another set. One corner had sepeation of the plastic black finish so I just glued it back and used a Black Sharpie to fill in any areas that showed the wood. Sounds aweful but you can't tell. Still worked great, and after a few days I couldn't bare to send them back.

After reading a few reviews I was inspired to comment. These speakers are excellent. I'm amazed anyone could call them junk. They must have gotten different speakers than I did or otherwise I have an ear for crap. The Emit tweeters are unbeatable. The tower's Box and unique shape is impressive, mids are clean, and bass is adequate. Lows are definately this speakers weakest point, but they are still very strong for the 8" driver. I have considered a sub especially with the addition of a DVD for home theater, but these things are real work horses. I just don't see the necessity of a sub (granted I don't have one). I've had subs in the past but not in a home theater system. I hate the muddy bass they can have and these speakers produce tight, crisp, punchy bass. I'm sure the 60's are even better. They have preformed perfecetly since day one and I too started listening to music I haven't played in a long while just to hear what I was missing. They still impress me almost two years later.

This is a great product, maybe a bit steep if your paying MSRP, but myself and the other net setters got an aboslute steal. Infinity has lived up to their reputation for me without a question!!

By the way the spikes fell out of the box that was dropped and Infinity was super, sending me a new set of two for free. I just emailed them and they sent me back the replacements right away. Great customer service. Rare.

4 stars because I know better products are available, but these are the best I've heard.

Strength:

Very Clean sound, great bass and highs

Weakness:

None

Because I'm lazy, I'm going to include this summary for all my recently acquired components and give each component its own individual grade.

My system:
Receiver: Yamaha HTR 5150 (part for part same as RX-595A)
DVD/CD: Toshiba 2109
Main: Infinity Delta 40s
Center: Infinity Delta Center
Surround: Infinity Delta 30s

My listening room is approximately 25' x 22'.

The receiver is everything I need in a 'cheap' receiver. I found it at onesale.com for $405 shipped to my door and 1 year free financing. It is the cheapest receiver that I've found that includes decoders for Dolby Digital and DTS. It also includes inputs for 5.1 channels in case they come out with a new format in the future. The sound is very crisp and clean (like most Yamahas) and it has switchable speaker impedence out so that it can handle my 6 ohms speakers (I haven't found any other receivers in this price range that are switchable). All in all I highly recommend this receiver.

The DVD/CD player is alright. It has what I needed (component video out and digital sound out) and was very reasonably priced at $230 to my door and 5 free DVDs and 13 free rentals. The picture is crisp and the sound is awesome. I don't really believe in spending a lot of money on DVD/CD players, digital sound is digital sound. I trust the name Toshiba in the DVD world, as they invented it.

My main speakers, the Infinity Delta 40s, create an excellent sound. Great bass and great high ranges. The cabinets also exactly match the Toshiba 61" big screen I have. These 3-way, 6 ohms speakers really live up to the Infinity name. My only problem has been with poor quality recordings. I have one Christmas CD that I tried playing and you could tell that the CD was burnt off of a master album because you could hear every crack in the needle. The receiver/speaker combination almost recreates the sound too well in these instances. High quality recordings are no problem. I picked the pair up for $330 delivered at egghead.com. Not bad for $1360 original retail speakers.

My center speaker, the Infinity Delta Center, matches voice with the Delta 40s perfectly. The 5 1/4" woofers provide just enough kick and I can't say enough about the emit-r tweater. Another egghead.com steal at $130 delivered for this $550 speaker.

For surround I'm using the Infinity Delta 30s, probably overkill but I just couldn't pass up the egghead.com prices and this also prevented me from having wires hanging down the wall from the speakers. Putting the wires in the wall would have been quite expensive as I have 14' ceilings and a finished basement. As I use the speakers only for surround, I cannot really testify to their quality. They reproduce the effects very well and I am quite happy with them. They are 3-way 6 ohms speakers that originally retailed for $1100 and I got delivered for $340 (yes, more than I paid for the 40s) at egghead.com

Still need to pick up a subwoofer.
