Strength:

excellent sound reproduction, great price at UBID.com

Weakness:

none

I'll try to be brief since there already so many postings on this product. Read the other positive comments on this site. They're all true. These are excellent speakers, with very impressive clarity, spaciousness, and realism. I paid $347 each (from UBID.com) for the first pair, then a second pair for $327 each for my father-in-law. I could not be more satisfied with these speakers. I used to use Infinity RS2000.4 speakers. Performing A/B comparisons makes it obvious that the Infinity Overture Compositions 2 are superior. If asked to compare these to other speakers I have listened to in dealer showrooms and friend's homes, I IMHO feel these are better than Klipsch, Polk, B&W, Boston Acoustics, and certainly Bose.
A few quick tips on auditioning speakers; always make certain the amp or receiver's bass and treble are set to neutral. Always bring your own music CD's that you like instead of listening to what the salesperson wants you to hear because those CD's will invariably be ones that show off the speakers well. Also, do not be fooled by your initial response to speakers which seem to have incredibly strong bass or trebles; after a few minutes of listening to that, it starts to get annoying. I believe it's called listening fatigue. You won't have these problems with these Infinity speakers. (Please do not infer from my last statement that the Infinity's are dull, they are not.)
Feel free to send e-mail if you have any questions.
Enjoy.

Strength:

Size, quality, 150 watt built in amp, sound quality

Weakness:

none yet

I recieved these speakers 2 months ago after purchasing them from ubid. ($700 delivered) For their compact size these speakers put out incrediable sound. Highs and mids are very detailed and the bass is tight. These speaker are the ideal choice for someone who has a good reciever but can't push the high wattage needed for most of the larger floor standing speakers. The built in amps push the speaker nicely. Thats not to exclude them if you have a reciever that pushs the higher current wattage. I just know how expensive reciever are becoming to get a reciever that pushes large amounts of high current wattage to supply those power hugry speakers.
I read above and others have stated that the bass bottoms out easily. I haven't seen that yet. If you are looking to bump, bump, bump, like those anoying loud car systems that listening to that tasteless music (rap) then their isn't a speaker this size that can deliver that type of bass. Some good advise to those people are to purchase a powered sub. as far as sound quality and home theatre these speaker kick a**.
I have them set up with rs-3s in the rear and the cc-3 as my center. All purchased at ubid over the last 4 months. The only think I would recommend is the bass dial on the speaker be easier to get to. You have to take the speaker grill off for every adjustment. Minor detail but it is the only complaint I could come up with.
For any one having problems with the bass responce, make sure the speaker has some clearance under the bottom. The higher I set the speaker up ( with the adjustable legs) the better the bass responce. As far as speakers go I see this at $700 as the best speaker value out there.

I recently got a pair of these speakers at ubid for $339 each. Previously, I did not have any speakers, so my basis for comparison is mainly my surround sound TV. My setup now includes the Overture 2's, a Denon 3300 receiver, and Audioquest Type 4 cables.
These speakers sound great. You can hear a lot of detail in both music and movie soundtracks. As far as power, the combination of my speakers and receiver provides much more power than I would probably ever need for my 12x17 room (both in terms of volume level and bass)... but it's cool to have.

In order to compare things (i.e., bass levels, speaker placement, etc) I used the first 5 minutes of Star Wars as my sound source. The difference between my old TV speakers and the Overture 2's is immediately obvious in the scene where the star destroyer flies overhead. On the TV speakers, the sound effect can just *barely* be heard no matter how high you turn up the volume (it's mainly a low frequency effect). In contrast, the Overture 2's make it sound like it does in the theater. I tried turning up the bass all the way on the speakers to hear how it sounded; playing this scene caused my windows to rattle - A LOT. I turned it down after that.

During the first couple of days things sounded a little bright. I'm not sure if it was the speakers, their placement, or if it was the cables (I've heard there's a break in period for cables). I moved the speakers to not be "toed in" and now (a week later) everything sounds smoother.

Strength:

Tight, punchy and smooth Bass
Deep sound stage
Size
Excellent highs and mids

Weakness:

Flimsy grill (big deal)

Well, I saw the reviews for the Overture 2 here the other day, and couldn't resist heading over to SoundTrack in Boulder to hear these things. After a demo of well-produced Willie Nelson, Radiohead, Dire Straits and Pink Floyd CD's, and a scene from The Matrix DVD, I was convinced that these were some of the best speakers I have ever heard. Even compared them to "equal" CVs, BAs and others, and they paled in comparison.

I promptly went home, boxed up my bose AM5 set up (two rear dipole cubes, passive woofer - only 2 weeks old) and returned it to Best Buy. They weren't happy, so I slipped the suggestion in their Idea Box that they lighten the hell up. Then, after reading about the deals people were getting at the site, I logged onto Ubid.com and got these Infinity beauties for $327 each at auction. They were roughly $800 each at SoundTrack.

The powered woofers will (temporarily) replace the weak, passive woofer I had with the AM5, as well as the 301s, which have served me well for four years.

I am amazed at how well these speakers reproduce every distinctive sound in any source I put to it, especially CDs. I am hearing sounds I never knew were there, and in a balanced, extrememly deep soundstage. It's hard to find good mids these days, and the O2s fill that gap _well_.

The powered subs in each speaker are an added bonus and, if you live in an apartment or condo, can easily substitute for a powered, stand-alone sub for home theater applications.

Although these are a bit pricey in stores, it seems they are very easily acquired at a great price via the Internet. Therefore I am giving it four stars for value. As for overall...no question: 5 stars.

Enjoy!

Strength:

Nice soundstage, imaging. Great mids, highs. Excellent with jazz, pop. Outstanding when paired with a sub. Great value.

Weakness:

Cheap grille, easy to tip over. Needs a sub for HT. No LFE input. Not worth the retail price. Great value from Ubuid!

A great speaker and a great value from Ubid. I got mine for $387/pr--too high I think since some people got em for $287 or less. At any rate, even though I requested Ground shipping, I got them in only 2 days! (Their shipping rates, though, are suspicious and ridiculous). I heard some horror stories below about the condition of the speakers when they arrived, but I got mine in flawless condition. They sound excellent out-of-the-box. These are very efficient speakers requiring very little to drive them. Excellent soundstage, imaging and clarity. Very nice mids and decent highs. Good bass for music although you definately need a sub for HT. I have a Paradigm PS1200 and its awesome on movies (and hard rock). I've heard the ProTower 400's from Def. Tech.: also great towers (bass is a lot better than the OVTR2) but the mids and highs aren't as good IMO. The AR-3's are also very nice (their 300-watt built-in subs are awesome) but the sound is a lot less revealing IMO compared to the OVTR2's. If money was no object, I'll get the Paradigm 70P or 90P (or even the Studio 80's) which has great bass AND great dynamics. Anyways, right now, I'm pretty satisfied with my OVTR2's. I can't wait to see, though, how the new Prelude series will perform compared to these.

Strength:

Clear highs, solid midarange, powered sub with tight bass

Weakness:

Placement of base control, cannot bi-amp, bass does bottom out.

A wonderful speaker for less than $700 a pair. Not worth the MSRP of $2,200 so I am basing my rating on what I paid for them. Would actually expect these to cost arund $1,000.

Wonderful sound, but very source and electronics dependent. Was dissappointed with the sound at first until I put in Dave Matthews & Jim Mattheos. Very detailed highs and mid, tight bass. I actually thought the bass was very muddy when I first used them, but after 60 hrs break in, they sound great. Poorly produced CD's sound like hell. Well produced CD's sound incredible. it is very easy to distinguish the differences in production on tracks on the SRV Double Trouble CD. Also a big increase in sound quality after dumping my Kenwood receiver for an Onkyo. Try adjusting pins so that speaker is sloped up slightly in the front. Also found that it helped the base to place speakers on stone bases, so that sound from down firing ports does not get muffled by the carpeting.

Speakers work well for both music and surround sound. Bass does not reach down to 20 mhz but is tight and accurate. Not audiophile stuff but well worth a look at under $1,000.

Damn! I ain't no trained professional in business, but alls I know is that these speakers are incredible. I haven't even connected my recently ordered Kimber Kable 4VSs yet; I'm just using 16-gauge Radio Shack $0.20/ft. cable. I'd give the sound 5 stars even with the cheapies - I can't wait to hear what $4 a foot is gonna pay for! If you can get these speaker in your price range, seriously consider 'em. I couldn't step up to the O3's 'cause of price, but the bass is still tighter than my wallet. Tight lows, crisp highs, DAMN!
