Strength:

HHMMMM........Highs

Weakness:

poor base, mids tend to be right in your face.

I'm very unmoved by these speakers. The V1.8 has next to no base and the mids smash you in the face. The soundstage collapses if you move to one side of the room to the other. Depth is also a problem for these speakers. Yes it's better than your average speaker but this not your average price. I like to compare speakers in the same price range. My results were that the V1.8 is way over priced and CAN NOT proform at the same level at other speakers in this same price range ( Snell, Vandersteen, Martin Logan, B&W, PSB, Alon) and the list goes on.

Strength:

Accuracy in strings reproduction

Weakness:

none

I am a professional musician, and just after playing the Saint-Saens Organ Symphony I happend to hear a CD of the same symphony in a listening room at an audio dealer. When I heard the pedal tone organ with the strings at the beginning of the 2nd movement my mouth just dropped open--- it was exactly what I heard on the symphony floor. I compared speakers all over town and couldn't duplicate the warmth and emotional impact of the Energy Veritas. I ended up buying a pair for my home. No tech talk here, just a pair of ears that know what music sounds like.

Strength:

Build quality, overall sound stage, dynamic range

Weakness:

Aluminum dome tweeters can be a little hot. It all depends on the associated equipment though.

Overall fine performer. The equipment used with these speakers must be good quality. Great sound staging and depth. Not for those who prescribe to the myth that "different is better".

Strength:

Beautiful Cabinets, phenominal bass, perfect mids, stunning highs.

Weakness:

Quite heavy. Get a helper if you need to carry them downstairs. Like a well built cabinet is a weakness!

I've read some of the other reviews here where people aren't satisfied with these speakers which leads me to three conclusions: 1:They've never heard live music 2: they don't know how to set up speakers in relation to room boundaries 3: They hooked them up to poor equipment or cables. I know these are discontinued, but if you can buy a good pair used, buy them. These are wonderful speakers. I have a large listening room (25x18) and they produce almost too much bass. You can feel it in the listening chair. Make sure they are away from corners and walls a good 3ft all around if you can unless you like loads of bottom end. Everyone who hear mine ask where the sub is. They can't believe little 6.5" drivers make all that bass. The mids and highs are stunning. No colouration and silky smooth with no shrillness whatsoever. They produce a huge deep soundstage, have boundless dynamic range and can play at enormous volume with no compression or strain at any frequency. In sum they give you a big sound with accuracy, dynamics, punch, detail, delicasy and ambience galore. But please note, these are Big room speakers that require a powerful amp. I also recommend Tri-wiring them as this opens up the soundstage even more. Reference quality speakers to be sure!

In evaluating speakers beauty is always in the eye of the beholder, That said. The Energy Veritas 1.8 overall wasen't my cup of tea. I felt that the veritas handled most of the music I played rather well but it just could not get me excited. I certainly felt a lack of controlled base. Depth was thin. I personally found better speakers, I ended up buying a pair of Martin Logan SL3 Request and I am very excited about them.

Strength:

everything, loud, great bass, great highs

Weakness:

yeah right

im listening to these suckers right now, ACDC ilve thunderstruck, i swear im right in this concert. These speakers are so clear, all you need is a nice system to accompany them, but if you got some money to spend, spend it on these.

Strength:

Terrific highs, OK mids and surprising bottom end.

Weakness:

None

Just installed these. Pleasantly surprised after a few hours of testing. Tried them first with my JVC all in one receiver with a DVD movie, sound was muddy, no definition, no presence. NOT happy with these for home theatre. Moved into the audio room, tested with my Adcom components which are a GFA5500 amp, GCD700 CD player and GTP450 preamp. Started with 12 gauge zip cord for speaker wire (was in a hurry), was still not impressed. Changed to monster power line 2 plus cable. Sounded Wonderful. These are very power hungry. They need 100 watts to come to life. Final test was trying them with my analog system which consist of a pair of McIntosh MC2/40's running mono, a carver preamp and technics MK12 turntable. The klispch laScala units sound better, but these have a home on the digital side of the room. For cd's, they are the best sounding speaker I own.
