Strength:

crisp bottom end fairly good imaging, not a bad price

Weakness:

cabinet resonances!!!! lack of true mid range

not a bad speaker but under some conditions, cabinet resonances seem to be quite noticable..... odd though because these can occur even at low volume levels... on the whole quite nice speakers for the price nice and compact with reasonable imaging, even if a little colored in the higher mid range.....

I am in the process of buying bookshelf speakers in the $300-$400(Canadian) price range and these were one of the ones I listened to. For some strange reason lots of people compare Energy speakers to Paradigms. This one is certainly comparable to the Paradigm Titans in that they both try to boost mid-bass. When I was listening to the 3.5's, the extra mid-bass almost seemed to produce abit of cabinet resonance. Don't get me wrong, these are great speakers. They have amazing imaging for their price, with decent coloration. But there was nothing about these speakers that "grabbed" my attention like I expected. I may end up buying these speakers, but I'll be looking around a bit more first.

I listen to my favorite band (James) on these speakers when I am drunk with Bob.

Strength:

Not many, overpriced, under performance

Weakness:

Blown woofer twice!!

This is rating for the Pro-22's which the salesman claimed were so wonderful at the time. Well the woofers have blown twice using a low powered 50 watt amp?? Volume never was cranked up as well. Replacement is over $200 each. Forget it. Warranty sucked. Energy spekaers were sold with a 5 year warranty NOT HONORED the first time the woofer blew under the so called warranty!! Back to classic JBL 4312's or 4410 studio monitors, these are REAL!! If anyone has a contact for a replacement woofer (reasonably priced) please email me [emailto:plin@inct.net]

For the $$ you cannot beat the AR 318/328 speakers if you can find them! Unreal price/performance bang for the buck!! Clear highs, accurate midrange, surprising bass response.
