I stumbled on these while shopping with a Friend (who ended up picking up a pair of eXL-26s). I was looking for some speakers myself for my Onkyo 905TX Stereo for my apartment. I have limited room, I was floored my how good the eXL-15 sounded (okay, they're no 26, but they're 70% less in price =-) Really amazing Bass from such a small speaker, I'm able to run them "flat" on my Stereo and be amazed by the clear sound. One warning, Energy tweets need a break-in period of a few days, after about 2-3 days they sound better. I'm able to watch moves at low volume, and make out every word, something few speakers seem to be able to do (lets face it, we've all done the volume shuffle between action scenes and "quiet" scenes, well you don't have to with the energys, they pick up the smallest sound and reproduce it so clearly that there is no need to crank up the volume. I picked up a pair for $169 at The Good Guys (I talked them down from $199). They sounded better than some of the "full sized" $400-500 speakers in the same sound room there, from some of the best names in speakers, hell they blew the Boston's away, and Boston has been a favorite of mine for years (my Car is all Boston).

Strength:

very nice speakers

Weakness:

weak bass

Nice speakers for their price. Have them set up in a dolby digital environment with a center speaker and a powered sub. They work quite well in this setup.

Brought home a pair of exl-16's after being impressed with their warmth, but my room is very small and it seems those speakers are more suited as a budget alternative to filling a large sized room. When placed in a small room a 6 1/2 inch woofer creates more volume than is pleasant in a confined space. So the solution to my problem was stepping down to these exl-15's, which I must say I am very pleased with thusfar. At moderate volumes these speakers are very musical. Energy gives you the most tech at the lowest price in the speaker world.

I bought these based on various reviews I had read with no audition. I replaced a Bose Lifestyle 30 system with 4 e:XL-15s, a e:XL-C center, and the e:XL-S10 sub. I have a Sony Strdb930 receiver driving them. This system blows away the Bose for a fraction of the cost. The e:XL-15s deliver good sound without the sub, but sound fantastic with it. I'm surprised at how much bass they put out by themselves. Of course, they are much larger than the Bose Jewel cubes, but in white they look good attached to my walls up near the ceiling. I don't think you can do much better than Energy speakers for the money.
I got mine from www.Audioshop.on.CA. Marc was very helpful, shipped the speakers the same day, and I received them in two days.

Strength:

Nice vocals, true sounds and good price

Weakness:

Non found yet

After much debate, I went with the Energy instead of Bostons. I am bias towards Bostons and they were my first choice because of real vocals and true sounds. Until I accidently hit the button to play these was when I really discovered Energy. There speakers made the Bostons (CR6) look and sound old. I now have a new outook on Energy Speakers.

Strength:

Crisp mid-range, small & cheap

Weakness:

Peaky highs, weak lows.

Paid approx US$150, exc ellent strong external build quality, internal "carpet" lining and cardboard port is a bit tacky but cone appears to be well made. Can't get enough of it apart to examine the crossover or tweeter assembly, quality and design appear similar to a set of Wharfedale Modus speakers in another room.

Sound is nice and crisp, the lows it does produce are
quite defined and not muddy, but due to the relatively
small size of the "woofer" (more squawker) it has difficulty reproducing loud low-frequencies (they sensibly
only extend the low-cutoff to 60Hz). Mid-range
and high-end are managed well and are extremely clear, although on some less than stellar recordings the highs can be a touch sharp. I'm driving these speakers off a Pioneer VSX-5300 which can push them to their 100Watt "limit", and these things happily take whatever I throw at them without distorting, and get way beyond a comfortable listening level at only 1/4 power or so.

Considering how cheap these things are and how solidly made
they are, with nice solid connectors with option for banana-plugs, they produce excellent sound, and with a small subwoofer to compensate for the weak bass, they are good value and a good choice for smaller areas not requiring
"big" sound. They make excellent surround speakers for a home-theatre setup too.

Strength:

Price, sound quality, size

Weakness:

none so far

These speakers are the first set of speakers I have. They sound very good. And for the price, they're the best.

I personally like the eXL 15 better then eXL 16. I am now looking to upgrade the two front speakers to a bigger set of energy. If anybody's interested, they can contact me. I still have the original box for the pair.

Strength:

Beautiful clear neutral sound

Weakness:

no low bass (but then what would you expect out of a speaker this small)

Considering the fact that you can find these speakers for less than $175 they are an incredible deal. The bass is very quick and very tight. The bass is lower and louder than you would expect from a speaker this size. The bass is not quite as impressive at low volumes, but I prefer to listen to my music a little on the loud side anyway. The midrange and high tones are very clear and distinct. Listening to the Beatles I could hear everything clearly. You could almost hear the size of the recording rooms in Eleanor Rigby. Nine Inch Nails sounds great on these speakers, except for a few of the songs that are so noisy as to become annoying (the speakers are almost too clear for noise like that). MDFMK has a very good sound on these speakers as does Aphex Twin. The driving bass and the wide range of tones and volumes in the industrial and electronica genres really show off the quality of these little speakers. They are perfect speakers for a small room, but I would definitely suggest moving up to the e:XL-16's or higher for a larger room. Overall I commend Energy for offering such wonderful speakers at a good price.
