First I'd like to say that I purchased these speakers in January of 2012. For some reason AudioReview stops their "product model year" at 2010.

I’ve been following Ed Frias’ line of speakers for many years, knowing his reputation, however not being able to audition a pair it took me awhile to place enough trust in his design capabilities to order a pair without having had the opportunity to listen to them first. I’m glad I finally did take THAT leap of faith. I can say without hesitation that their sonic performance far outweighs their price. I sold my Klipsch LaScalas, which retail for around $7,500 / pr., and have not regretted it for a second. I know I will never part with the T-50's.

Their CLARITY from ~30Hz the highest frequencies is simply AMAZING. The dynamics and sound stage literally place you in an environment of “BEING THERE”. These are without a doubt the FINEST speakers I’ve ever heard and I’ve heard many. Very High Quality, in ALL respects, are the most appropriate words I can use to describe them. These are not your run-of-the-mill $3,000 speakers. They simply astound me every time I listen to them… both CD or DVD source. Simply LIFE-LIKE.

The T-50’s come in a Black lacquer piano finish which is as exquisite as the sound which flows from them. The finish is simply impeccable... PERIOD!

Everything about these speakers reflects the very highest quality in audio design. I would challenge anyone with speakers costing 2x to 3x as much to contact me for an audition. I’m in Columbia, SC and would be happy to let these speakers “speak” for themselves. You’ll walk away amazed and truly understand what the word BARGIN means.

Please feel free to e-mail me to discuss an audition in my home. I didn’t have that opportunity. You won’t regret the trip.

    Walter :)

PS_ Ed Frias doesn't have a Web Site and doesn't advertise. Why would he when he has all the business he can handle via word-of-mouth reviewers like me and limited production stock.

The T50's have a precision of clarity with a depth of sound that is very rare. The soundstage is enormous. They are perfectly smooth in transition from highs to lows with precise smooth and full base. Dynamics, articulation and detail are full and complete as every individual instrument is ditinct. The cabinets are beautifully finished in a grand piano style gloss black finish. My Wife , who also plays piano, loves the sound and looks as they have a large presense in our music/theatre/family room which they have more than earned along with our surround EFE T-42 towers and C-20 center channel. I built an entertainment center arround the speakers which works beautifully.

Ed Frias' T-50s are an upgrade for us to true audiophile speakersfrom his highly modified BIC Dv62 series, which we enjoyed form years. I did an EFE speaker comparision as my ear has become much better over the years. The Dv 62cls are very good speakers, the EFE T-42 are excellent with the T-50s being works of sound art, taking sound to another level. Are there better speakers? Maybe, but I don't care. What a value! Mywife and I have been completly fooled while listing to movies in surround movie mode. We thought planes, vehicles, storms, rivers etc. were real. Our poor dog gets confused too! I supplement the base on the low end by a 12" SV Subwoofer down to 17+- hertz. Play the T-50s in stereo and you will be in a concert hall.

Later this year I will upgrade my power from a Marantz Reciever at 110w channel @ 8 ohms rms to 200-250w per channel. This is recommended by Ed as they can handle and need the power and I want to take full advantage of the speakers capabilities. Wth high quality media, player, amp and cables, you can experience music at its maximum via the T-50s. Ed Frias' advice and service have been outstanding. One speaker was damaged by FED-Ex and Ed made sure I received a perfect replacement. They are large and heavy. I placed mine on felt furniture pads to move if needed.

In all my years as a consumer, the EFE T-50 speakers at $2890 pair are by far my number one value in any purchase of any kind. Fel free to email me with at any time with questions or comments; pmter@cox.net

What to say? An awesome speaker! I have auditioned many speakers in my experience as an avid audio buff, and I can honestly say, there are few speakers which compare with these. There are a few speakers I have listened to which would compare favorably, like the Mirage M-3si and Legacy Focus. Their cost, $3000 to $6000+, places them in a different category, not to mention the expense. The dynamics of the EFE T-50's are way beyond expectations. In fact, the dynamics are so significant, as to be near overwhelming in my space. The demo. CD included with purchase really highlights their capabilities. The articulation of the T-50's is exceptional as well, especially at higher volumes. While listening, I could hear the separation of instruments to a degree I haven't heard with any speakers I have owned.

In short, these are truly outstanding! If anyone is serious about spending a decent chunk of change for a set of speakers, these should be placed at the top of the list. In my view, you will not find a better value, compared to performance, in this price range. At approx. $2800, they are a steal.

I should also mention the great customer service offered by Mr. Frias. He put up with my extensive questions, without complaint. It is truly unusual to find this kind of service anywhere. There was even follow-up on Mr. Frias' part, to ensure my satisfaction with the purchase. Bravo!

    Strength:

Great highs, lows, and midrange. I don't have to adjust my treble and bass at all.

    Weakness:

    NONE...

I purchased a pair of T-50s from Ed just this past weekend. October 29, 2008. I drove to Ed's home to pick them up because I live in Phoenix, Az and he lives in Prescott, Az. approximately and hour drive away.

I was running at the time 4 Infinity SM 112 speakers and I THOUGHT I had great sound. Once I connected the T-50s I thought I had died and went to heaven. The clarity and balance of these speakers are incredible! Not to mention the design, elegance, and pure beauty of the black laquer. I find myself just sitting a staring at them all the time. I love my music even more now and with the quality of these speakers I have found myself expanding my musical taste because before only certain music would sound good on my system.

I want a another pair to compliment the ones I have already. Ed will be hearing from me very soon in the near future. I can't wait!!!! Thank you Ed.

Beautiful Construction, amazing piano black finish

    Weakness:

I have not heard a speaker that can rival these in articulation and detail...not to mention accuracy, richness, and as the other reviewer said, “imaging and dynamics”. I have not sat in front of speakers (until now) that have the ability to make you completely forget the source and draw you in as if you were there live. I struck at the perfect time with these and only paid $2,000.00 instead of $2890. I was ready to pay $5,000 for a pair of Vienna Acoustics but a friend of mine auditioned his EFE AR.COM DIY speakers that he built and convinced me to buy these. I am very happy I ended up going with the T-50 towers. I was a bit nervous at first, not having even heard these speakers. But once we got everything set up, all the apprehension melted away, replaced by sheer joy at what I was hearing and the work of art that sat in front of me on the left and on the right.

I also purchased the matched EFE T-20 center channel -- again, absolutely blown away by the sound quality and value of this speaker. I will be buying a pair of the EFE B-15 speakers for my surrounds.

I recommend these speakers to the discerning listener...I recommend them to anyone for that matter. You will not be disappointed.

    Customer Service

Unrivaled. Ed is in a class all his own. No one can match the attention to detail and responsiveness of Mr. Frias.

    Strength:

The EFE T-50s have Absolute definition, unmatched imaging and soundstage, lifelike dynamics, and a truly mouth-dropping finish. They are stunning to look at, and if you didn’t know any better, you would just let them sit there for the looks. But no my friends, these were created to dictate man’s greatest audibles – and that’s what they do and do so better than any speaker I have heard, sub 15K. Ed Frias, how did you do it? Bravo.

    Weakness:

    Yeah right

A speaker with the same attributes as its creator, Ed Frias – true, accurate, full of life, one in a million, an absolute rarity. I have never, and I mean NEVER, heard a speaker quite like this. I don’t understand how this speaker can do such things; how ANY apparatus can -- how is it possible? That is not a rhetorical question, I really want to know. I was stunned when I sat down and listened to these – my brain was truly perplexed when I heard piano strings played through these speakers with my eyes closed; I was convinced the sound was coming from a $350,000 Steinway and Sons concert grand piano, played by a master pianist inside a Long Island Hampton’s coastal palace. And when I opened my eyes to see the sound was coming from two cabinets…like I said…perlexion. Other words that come to mind; awe, amazement, dumbstruck, pulsing euphoria, ecstasy, ARRIVAL!

After auditioning many speakers and then learning about the speakers from Ed Frias, I decided to take the plunge, and without the benefit of hearing the T-50's, ordered a pair. I was anxious about how they would sound, but when I landed the speaker cables on them, and powered-up my system, my concerns vanished. My impression was and is, to say the least, very favorable. Clean, accurate, room filing, glorious sound. I have auditioned speakers costing upwards of $20,000/pair, and believe me, these can hang in with the best, especially when one considers the price difference. I am happy on all counts, and the wife approves of their looks (and sound), in spite of their size. Prior to purchasing these speakers, I was considering upgrading my whole line-up of gear, but at this point, the sound is such that the urgency to do so is gone. If you are a bang for the buck type of person, consider these T-50's or perhaps other speakers from Mr. Frias. It would be hard for me to imagine being disappointed. An added plus when I purchased the speakers was the fine experience I enjoyed in dealing personally with Ed Frias.

    Casual Listener

After deciding to invest in a high end stereo system, I had opportunity to spend considerable time (many hours over many days) listening to the excellent line of EFE Technology speakers... and gradually developed an "educated" ear... to the point where I was able to discern (oftentimes subtle) differences in various speakers, and appreciate the differences in performance various speakers are able to provide. Now, I suppose that different listeners have (perhaps radically) different ideas of what makes a great sounding speaker... but, if you want "commanding presence" in a speaker (without having to hock the farm to get it)... then the new EFE Technology T-50 tower speaker is something you must consider. You owe it to yourself to check it out! The "commanding presence" of this speaker takes various forms. First... the physical appearance is quite striking with its sleek, glossy, piano-black finish that just seems to have "quality" stamped all over it (kind of like a Concert Grand Piano). And then... there is the sound. Smooth, natural, detailed, expansive, room-filling sound that just totally immerses you in the performance. The bass is riveting... it is deep, clean, precise, and powerful. All in all, these speakers provide an extremely enjoyable listening experience, and it's hard to imagine that anyone could truly be disappointed when listening to them. These speakers will be very hard to beat, and they provide incredible value in a high-end system... whether a 2-channel (music only) system, or as the front left and right speakers in a surround-sound home theatre system.
