Strength:

Pure treble and deep bass. Beautiful finish. Excellent build quality.

Weakness:

Big! They are hard to move around when trying to find proper placement. Luckily my dealer did all the work, but if I move, I'm outta luck!

I currently have four of the Evidences in my home theater setup (two fronts and two rear surronds). The sound is absolutely incredible. When I put on a DVD like Armageddon it's sheer bliss. I highly recommend the Dynaudio Evidence.

Strength:

Imaging, tonal balance, soundstaging

Weakness:

Other than price, not much. Bass perhaps, and large orchestral works may be better served elsewhere.

I spent several hours one afternoon at a local dealer who was kind enough to allow me a full audition. The rest of the
system consisted of the Wadia Power blocks, with a Wadia CD transport/DAC and a Mark Levenson preamp. I am sure the
Dynaudio's would quickly reveal any upstream changes in the system.

On Carmina Burana, I was not bowled over, and yet could not
explain why the visceral excitement was missing. Nothing
was patently wrong, just not quite right enough. I then
played some old blues recordings, which sounded tonally accurate if not very present. Then I checked out
Jon and Vangelis' Friends of Mr. Cairo, which opened up
the soundstage and was quite encouraging.

Finally, Vangelis' Opera Sauvage showed me what these speakers can do. Notes literally floated in the air, and I felt an emotional involvement one does not readily associate with synthesized music. All of the harsh edge was gone with a clarity and presence unmatched in my experience. I went immediately to the next room to hear this disc on the Revel Ultima's(no slouches either) and while very happy with their sound, they still were no match for the Evidence, at least on imaging and soundstaging. And
they were great on both, just noticably below the Evidence.

Summary: With well recorded music, and top electronics, you
will hear your money's worth on many, if not all, recordings. For macro-dynamics and low bass, I have heard better, and definitely recommend the optional subwoofer.
Nothing I have heard sounded smoother, although a few others
are close in this regard. But as for making notes float like
soap bubbles? Only the Evidence.

For a sense of air they are unmatched. Period. For hearing
what is on the record, again unmatched. If you want to save $ 50,000 and sill be wowed, I would hear the Revels.

Kudos again to Sounds Like Music in Phoenix for allowing me to hear their speakers undisturbed. If only everyone had their class.

Strength:

Rendering of Voices, seductive in any way, keeps you nailed at the chair

Weakness:

Certainly Price

This is the very best speaker I ever heard. And I´m willing to say: They are a quite big step ahead of the competition listed above.

After a big marathon of listening to the best speakers around there, they were my very favourites. Never ever had so realistic voices and soundstage in front of me. Since any of these above will make you happy in a way, the Evidence are certainly the best in resolution and tuned very balanced. The only drawback is the quality of bass if you see this in absolute terms. As they have the very best passive bass available, an active and regulated bass will strongly top this performance. Examples ? The BM30, a IQ-System bass or even a Genesis bass will do better. And I mean not only in volume or frequency range, but in resolution.

But for Mid- and Upperrange there is no better than these pieces of gold. In my 15 Years of addiction, this will make you happy for a long while. Heard those within an all Spectral chain. Was a bit bright to some, but maybe used with Mark Levinson´s reference gear you will never stand up anymore if you had a chance to take place in front of them.

Certainly too expensive for me right now I use the W/P 6.1 at home and I´m quite happy, too. At least since the latest interation to 6.1 which is an incredible improvement over 5 or even 6.0. But more of this at another position later.

5 Points for Value, cause (while expensive) I dont know of anything better yet and 5 for Overall for sure.

But dreams stay inside, if you can afford these, take my jealousy.
