Strength:

Transparent, focus, great soundstage, holographic, sweet-sounding. Basically, put on a Chesky demo disc and the Contour 3.3 will pass all the tests.

Weakness:

Can be a bit too laid-back sometimes. Can make everything sound like easy listening music. Very natural bass but may not be enough for those who like heart pumping bass. Boring look.

I bought them based solely on reviews and I'm only using them (temporarily) with a cheap Thule Spirit 150W integrated amp. My other equipments: Pioneer DV-S733A DVD/DVD-A/CD/SACD player Kimber Silver Streak interconnects Ocos speaker cables I've been using them for only about 3 weeks (50 hours) and already I'm hearing great things out of them. It's like buying 3 pairs of different speakers for the price of 1. You get the transparency and holographic imaging of Wilson Audio speakers. You get the sweet and rich sound that you can normally expect from Avalon Acoustics speakers. You get the great soundstage and focus of Genesis speakers. Now, the above 3 brands have weaknesses beside the strengths mentioned but they are not present in the Contour 3.3. If you don't mind getting glued to your couch like me, buy Contour 3.3 speakers. Just make sure you bargain hard with your local store! NOTE: The music, company and atmospere are just as important as your equipment. I still get some enjoyment when listening to my friend's crappy 15-year-old car stereo as long as the music is good and you have good friends to hang out with. Of course, the same music will sound 10 times better on my home system.

Strength:

wide open/transparent/Natural mids-highs/ small foot print/top notch build quaulity/ well controlled bass VERY MUSICAL SPKR!

Weakness:

The bass is taut and well controlled down to 28hz, I like it but if you''re used to what I call sloppy bass this may be an area to check out ...long break-in time but an easy road getting there.

I bought these without hearing them (yeah I know). I went by all the reviews. From what I heard of them I was willing to take the risk. When they first arrived I hooked them up to an old (30 yr?) pioneer receicver (sx626 about 30 w per/ch). I did this just to run them in a bit before I hooked them up in my main system (still hadn''t sold my main spkrs yet). I must say that before these were broken in and with only 30 watts (only the amp section of the pioneer was used, the pre-amp and back was my main system) I was very pleasently surprised! They were very musical and had bass! I ran them periodically for about a month then finally hooked them as my mains. The frequency extremes still needed some more break-in time but was they worked in WOW! These speakers are all what you''ve heard from the other reviews here and they love music as much as I do. There''s not many things in the Audiophile world that I would suggest buying before hearing but these are a different story. Nice job Dynaudio! My system: Bryston 7bst amps Audio Research LS3B pre CAL CL-15 cd player Kimber kcag inter (cd to pre) Kimber hero bal. (pre to amps) Analysis plus oval 9 spkr cbls chk these out

Strength:

The open soundstage and the deep controlled and very detailed bass, wonderfull neutral mids and the detailed highs that really are in a league of there own.

Weakness:

Needs careful room placement and a powerful amp

I love these speakers and beucase that i´m a musican i spend a lot of time listening to music, so these are really more working tools than anything else.
The first time i heard about Dynaudio was during mixing of a record when i asked the engineer about his awesome studio monitors(M3 Main monitors and M6 Near-field)i found out that they where made by Dynaudio Acoustics and when i heard that they made home speakers to(studio monitors are not the best speakers for home use)i looked around and settled down whith a pair of Contour 3.3´s and i think i never could have made a better choise.
I listen to these speakers about 8-10 hours a day and i must say that you don´t need "drugs" when i you have the dynes around beucase you´ll be in musical nirvana anyway.
The Contour´s are not cheap but if you have $7500 over to spend on loudspeakers buy these and you´ll never make a better choise for that kind of a price.
I dunno really know what i would do without these speakers but i do know it´s hard not to be able to listen to them everyday.

Strength:

Closest thing next to having the artists perform in your room. Better recordings are absolutely frightening.

Weakness:

None really. To truly appreciate what they can do however you shouldn't skimp on the rest of your components- including the cables.

If you can fit 'em into your room and into your budget they may be the last speakers you'll ever buy.....which in audio-addict terms means you should get more then a year out of them.

Strength:

Natural sound with good detail and focus.
Easy to point out every musician in the orchestra.
The treble is excellent, detailed, it´s like having the drummer and his cymbals in your room in front of you,
it requires a good amplifier to show off the good sides.

Weakness:

It requires a rather big room like 8*5 meters and standing atleast 1 meter from wall with the backside,
otherwise it will be too much bass.
The crossover components at this price level should have good stuff, not electrolytic capacitors and ferrit core windings, shame to you Dynaudio!!!
I´ts a hard work to replace 2*47uF/100V electrolytic and a 1.5uF/250V MKT Polyester capacitor to Polypropylene ones, about 2 hour / piece.

A really good speaker with natural sound if you have the equipment and room it requires.

Strength:

clarify, image and pure musicalityIt is the most neutral and precise speaker I've ever heard

Weakness:

none!!

Everything I ever wanted in a box - looks, details, rich harmonic, speed, transient sound stage, and transparancy. Did I mention it's midrange? Female vocal never sounded so good .I think the 3.3 is one of the best speakers on the market today, the sound, bass, highs and over all best looking.love them and would never cosider
replacing them.

Strength:

Tonal accuracy. Highs, midrange, bass & the integration of the 3 first class

I was the first reviewer for this speaker model. I still own it & continue to enjoy it's sonic attributes. I have now learned to appreciate it's looks as well & it unobtrusively blends in with the rest of the furniture.

Sonically, you would be hard pressed to get a better all round speaker for the price,,, even by today's standards.

The rating by Jack below is unfair. I have been pro B&W for many years & still enjoy their speakers. Without doubt, the 801N & 802Ns are world class. But so are the Contours 3.3s. BTW, I still own a pair of B&Ws.

The Contours are more conservative in looks. Also, I noticed of late that B&W are following Dynaudio's approach in designing their bass drivers.

If you look closely at the B&W bass drivers in particular, you will notice the dust caps & voice coils have grown considerably in size. With a fixed cone diameter & throw, this new approach will shift less air (i.e. less bass), but will offer superior control in the lower registers, resulting in better quality bass.

Strength:

Superb detail, midrange purity and almost total lack of midrange coloration, deep tight bass.Superb in bird's eye maple(I have the rosewood, still great looking).Good quality WBT binding posts. The foam port blockers are great in some situations.

Weakness:

Total zeros like Jack. From what rock did you crawl Jack?
I am in shock a superb audiophile speaker like the venerable Dynaudio Contour 3.3 gets a 1/5!Ha damn you are a total retard Jack, you have no idea what you are talking about. The bass on the Contour 3.3 is tight, musical not overblown BS you are used to.Stop using your Top Ramen reciever. You are a punk with no taste, take your raggs outta here.1/5 means its a total joke,YOU Jack are a total joke.

Again excuse my long "weaknesses" section,I had to be said.

Now if anybody buys a speaker of this caliber then you must have or get a good power amp.I use a Krell FPB600 and the results are nothing less then musical.

The bass will remain tight and retain power with amps like the Celeste 4250SE,MOON W5 and even a Carver TFM-75.

I tried two ATI amps(the 1505 and 2505)all worked great(minus the more refined presentation of the Celeste and Krell)

The bottom line is the Dynaudio Contour 3.3's are superlative speakers at any price. When you consider these are around $7000 there are few in this price range that can even compete.

I have the 3.3's,Contour 1.1's(two pairs) and the Contour Center, all musical and uncolored speakers. And even the 1.1 have great bass.

Strength:

everything

Weakness:

maybe, just maybe, midrange can be a little fuller

I sold my Confidence 5 to search for something easier to drive at the same time will play lower. I started with Contour 3.3 and 802, you guess it, 3.3 came out on top. 802 is very impressive when playing loud, but it does not produce true music like 3.3 does. Budget was not really a constraint here, so I also audition speakers like Amati Homage. What a disappointment - very bright and lean sounding, not what Sonus Faber are known for. Owning Watt/Puppy and Extrema before, I can attest Confidence 5 are better than anything out there, and that includes 3.3, but 3.3's midrange is almost as liquid, high almost as delicate, and overall sound is more satisfying because it plays full range. If you don't mind the look, this is the speaker to beat for $7300, or any price.

Weakness:

Price... but isn't that the usual story for an audio product of this caliber?

I had been in love with my KEF 104's for going on 12 years. Recently I had started on, what has become, my every decade system update. It started with a new CD player ( NAD 515 which I love ) and progressed through a new amp/preamp and some decent interconnects and speaker wire. I had the bug... and just had to go for some new speakers. I am, in many ways, too pragmatic to call myself an audiophile. It was only recently that I actually proved to myself that wires can and do make a difference. I never thought I would ever say the 104's were, in any significant ways, weak. In fact, I almost dreaded my first listening session with the 3.3's because I was almost sure I would be very depressed over my substancial purchase ( yes, I bought them without listening to them ). Wow, wow, wow!!! I really don't know what else to say. Please don't tell anyone I spent this much on a pair of speakers!

None that were even close, but my last pair of speakers were KEF 104/2's.
