Strength:

Excellent sound quality for such a compact system!

Weakness:

none in my book

Justin, you're exactly right..Richard..shut the hell up!
What we're talking about here is the overall value of the product. The quality of sound you get from this system is hands down the best for this price range. I know of no other speakers that can compare with def tech for about a $1000. I have the procinema 100 set. I've had it for about 8 months now and I love it. The 10" sub is just astounding. It's hard to believe such hard hitting bass comes from that thing. The clarity is also unbelievable.
I highly recommend this system for people who want an AFFORDABLE surround/music system. That is, unless you whip out your spectrum anylizers which I'm sure you all have right? Richard, you have entirely too much time on your hands. Who the hell cares what a spectrum anylizer reads? Rule of thumb: What sounds best to you is right.

These speakers will make any music sound better. Except that is, country music. But nothing makes country music sound good.

Listened to them for a month - good bass from Pro Sub, but satellites are dull and unfocused. Checked them out with a spectrum analyzer and FR was terrible in my room anyway. Notch of 10db at 2K which you could really hear, rolloff > 12db at 16Khz, also very apparent in listening. Bass was very flat. I'm returning them and getting some B&W 602's.

Richard, shut up. Quit pretending to talk mumbo-jumbo. Of course these speakers showed the output readings you talked about. It's hard to find a speaker setup cheaper and better than the Pro Cinema 100.6. If you want to have better readings with your little machine, whip out your wallet, and spend a few thousand dollars more.

After spent a month research on this site and visited the local audio stores, I bought the ProCinema 100.6 with a 12" sub upgrade for under $1300. This is my first Digital Home theather system. I use the Yamaha 992 Receiver, Pioneer DV-505, monster cable XP and Sanus System's Euro Foundations adjustable speaker stand. After a week burn in and a little tune up follow by both manufactory's manual. I have to tell you the sound is 10X better than the Bose AM10 for movies and lot better than Wharfedale Modus Monitor MFM5 or the Infinity RS speakers for music. Well, It also looks extremely attractive in my apartment with all black furniture. Thanks to everyone that post your comment on this site. I have to give it a 5 +.

I agree with the better reviews on this product. I just picked up the package deal, minus the subwoofer (I have a Cerwin Vega already) for $780. That include the 4 satellites and the center. I LOVE these speakers. I couldn't be happier with them. First thing I did was play Steve Morse - High Tension Wires.. a very clean and loud CD... then Satriani, Metallica, Dire Straits, Clapton, Garth Brooks, Shania, and more. It did a wonderful job on ALL of it. But the main reason I bought them, movies! DVD of course. 1st Contact, Replacement Killers, Twister, The Thing, Spawn, you name it... all rocked! Great seperation, great bass, amazing. I recommend these hightly!

I don't think anyone will find a better home theater speaker package for under $1200. If you believe, as I do, that it's impossible to integrate your home theater system with your audio only system (I just don't believe you can put together a system that can do movies AND audio equally well without paying "mega" bucks), you should give these a listen. In their price range they are tough to beat. To appreciate them fully you'll need to audition them with a DVD player with a decent coaxial interconnect. I'm sure you'll be amazed at the quality of the presentation at that price.

Excellent product!

I went to a local audio store to buy the Pro Cinema 100.6 system. But when I got there the salemen showed me the Pro Cinema 200 system. The Pro Cinema 200 comes with 1 PR Pro 100's 1 PR Pro 200's 1 Pro Center C 2 and 1 12TL sub.The Pro Cinema 200 is a step up from the Pro Cinema 100.6.They had a Yamaha RX-V2095 hooked up to it and the sound was great!!!The sound was just as good as it is in the movie theater. The Pro 100's are for the Left and Right and the Pro 200's are for the Rear.I got a price of $2,365.50 from a store near me called Audio Lab.I think the Pro Cinema 200 is the best sub/sat system out there!!!!www.audiolab.com

Rob,
Try contacting costsheets at costsheets.com. I e-mailed them about a month ago and they gave a price of $995.00 including shipping, which is a terrific price for this set, but there could be a backlog. As far as choosing between the ProCinema's and the TaKe 5's, and price being no object, the ProCinema's win hands down. One more thing, Definitive just released the new Pro 80 series, which has a 4.5" woofer instead of a 5.25" woofer and the new ProSub 80 which has a 250 watt amp with an 8" woofer. The Pro 100's are rated down to 50hz and the Pro 80's are rated down to 60hz so you don't lose much dynamic range for a smaller speaker. I just bought the Pro 80's yesterday and hope to post a review as soon as possible. I am hooking it up to the new Denon AVR3300, which was released this week. A local dealer matched the lowest price I found on the net, so don't be afraid to use the net as a bargaining tool when dealing with your local retailers. Good luck to all and happy listening. Five stars to the ProCinema's and five stars to the Webmaster for riding this site of all the low lifes, so we all can get back to reading reviews and not auditioning roles for All My Children, which is exactly they were. Bye.

I am trying to decide between the Pro Cinema 100 set and the energy take 5 set. I have been unable to find an on-line dealer with the Pro Cinema 100's so if anyone could help me out that would be great. Thanks. 5 stars because I hear they are fantastic.
