Strength:

"Very Detailed"SoundStage is terrific"Bass is tight and at the same time expanded"The lows are so warm, tender. These babies can go real low:down to 15hz.

Weakness:

None at all

These Speakers are trully amazing!Just looking at them for the first time it scares you due to their size. These babies are tall 50" and weight 125"lbs each.I've known about these speakers for a while and was waiting for a chance like this($1,500.00 for the pair) to own them. Please note that these Speakers are "triwirable" and must be hooked up correctly in order to appreciate their sound.I have mines "biwiring"the highs and meds" and sending the preout from my Pioneer Elite receiver VSX-49TXi to the "Full Range Low Level"in for the sub" at the back of the speaker.Doing this you will achieve optimum performance.Remember these speakers are built with a 15" 500watts powered Sub.Cables also make a big diferent so thats why I'm using Tara Labs RSC Prime 1800 Biwired".The sound is "Amazing"Detailed"Soundstaged"Warm".I am a Latin Music listener, specially "salsa" and the highs are out of this world... And for movies, My days of going to the movies are over, because my "home theater with these speakers sounds much better than going to the movies. My apt. shakes when I play action movies. My friends baptized the speakers with the name "The Two Towers" because thats what they look like in my living room.I have and 8 channel home theater(each BP2000tl has a 15" Sub) and all my speakers are "Definitive Technology". These Speakers connected correctly will compete with speakers costing 3 or 4 times as much and trust me I've listened to speakers costing over $6000 and I've not been impressed as with these speakers.I spend hours listenig to music and every day these speakers sound better and better.

Strength:

Sweet bass. It just hits and then it's gone. Try listening to Tool's H or Lateralus when you audition them. Also, they sound great with live recordings, especially if your amp has good DSP settings.

Weakness:

None, other than having to shell out for a solid amp and cable set.

The Definitives are amazing for the money. I auditioned some Bostons, Missions, and low end Thiels along with them. Nothing under 3 G's is even in the ballpark with the BP2000s. For more money, the 3000s or some of the mid priced Thiels are a great choice, but the 2000s still rock. I use them 75% for music and 25% for HT. I suggest taking some recordings or DVDs you're familiar with and you won't believe your ears when you hear them. FYI, I'm running a Yamaha Z1 and I've found that the Def Techs seem to be a good match for Yamaha products. I chose the Z1 over the Denon 4802 and 5800. All excellent products but this is my personal taste. Hope this helps.

I find it quite odd that you would complain about this speaker in the manner that you have. I have over the course of many years had the opportunity to audition many speakers and equipment combinations thanks to my friends in the audio industry and felt that the MS-908 held its own against speakers costing anywhere from 2x to 3x their own price. Included in this comparison were speakers from Proac, Totem, B&W, Kef, Ruark, Angstrom, Rega, Acoustic Energy, Monitor Audio, Monsoon Audio, Energy, PSB, Vandersteen and Castle to name but a few of the speakers I have had the privilege of listening to. I have consistently found the British speakers to have a consistent soft sound which makes sense given the smallish apartments and the reign of classical. I have consistently found the Canadian speakers to be much more neutral then their British counterparts. Again I speak in generalizations but go and Audition a midrange level Totem and compare it to a midrange Proac and you'll quickly see what I mean. Now this is where the MS-908 comes in. It isn't perfect for classical given it's more neutral sound characteristic but let them breath with jazz and you will be floored. Yes you heard me right. Traditionally British speaker manufactures roll-off the mid's and tweets in order to better handle violins. Listening to a wide variety of music will quickly tell you that the MS-908 is at home with a wide variety of music. Try listening to Cassandra Wilson's Strange Fruit or Branford Marsalis's Tain Mutiny at a healthy sound level on a typical British speaker and the dynamics go to hell because of that roll-off that I just mentioned. However, this is where the MS-908 shines. As for the bass comment, well I just can't figure out where that came from. What were your comparisons? I've listened to most of the MS-908s direct competition and you will be lucky to see multiple 6" bass drivers. Because of the cross-over point of the MS-908 being at 100 Hz the 10" bass driver doesn't have to get involved with the speeder upper bass region of lets say the cello or natural bass. Traditionally this is where larger bass units have fits. However, asking 6" drivers to delve into the the sub 45 Hz region is just stupid and unrealistic. Even if the driver can get there its capacity to move air is just to limiting a factor.

Strength:

Astonishing sound for the money.

Weakness:

Extensive trial and error testing to get them sounding just right.

I first auditioned the DT 2000s in 1995 and was absolutely amazed. At that time I could not afford them, so I kept shopping to find the best speaker once I could aford a speaker in the 3000-5000 price range. In Dec. 2001 I finally made the purchase of a pair of DT BP2000tls. I have not found a better resonably priced speaker in all this time. None can match the power and dynamic range of these speakers. It does take a lot of fiddling to find the perfect setup for a particular room. However, once they're set up, you won't find a better speaker for music AND home theater than the BP2000tls (except perhaps the 3000tls) this side of 5k.

Strength:

Phenominal sound, little floorspace.

Weakness:

None

I'll start off with this, I love these speakers. They do everything I ask them to do extraordinarily well. In the store I matched them up against a pair of Martin Logan's that sell for considerably more, and still like the Definitives more. These speakers pack a hell of a punch yet can handle a delicate soundtrack with the best of them. I firmly believe that these speakers can perform with others costing much, much more. Highly recommended.

Strength:

Incredible range. No need for subs

Weakness:

None

These speakers are fabulous. I don't believe you can find anything better for the money. Close your eyes & you'd think there was a performance going on in the same room; the soundstage is immense definitly aided by their bipolar design. I love the fact that I don't need a seperate obtrusive and ugly sub with these monsters. There's also so many options when it comes time to wire these things as well, which is a big plus.

I had the opportunity to audition these babies for an extended period of time with 12 different CD's & the Matrix DVD before making my final decision. After I was blown away with the CD's (from Strauss to Korn , Dave Matthews to some Trance/Techno, & Dave Wekyl to Fear Factory) I knew these were the ones, but after watching/hearing the Matrix through these I realized this was a steal. I often wondered how DT can sell these speakers for under $3000. One of my other finalist were the Martin Logans (yes, I know they're a very different type of speaker), however they just couldn't compete when it came down to more bass driven music, as well as home theater. Their sound is incredible as well, but I don't want to fill my room up with additional subs to compensate, let alone add the extra expense (plus, 2 subs are without a doubt better than one). Whoever said you can hide a sub anywhere in the room must have only listened to some cheap chain store HT speakers. My father has Cambridge Ensembles. These are very good satellite speakers with dual subs. This is how I first experienced a dual sub system. His brother-in-law has Ensemble 2s (single sub). No comparison 2 subs are better than one.

I'm actually watching MI2 at the moment. The volume is very low since it's almost 3am. Even at this low volume there's still a great presense from this speaker. I also believe once you go bipolar you'll never be able to revert back to standard speakers.

These deserve 10 for value & an overall rating of 20. I purchased these at Woodbridge Stereo in Woodbridge, New Jersey. Probably not a better place in the New York/New Jersey area. They're soundrooms are state of the art. You'd also believe that upon entering you'd probably pay more here than in another store, NOT TRUE. There aren't 50 pairs of speakers at 5 different heights here. If you're in the area I'd recommend checking it out. You can get their info on DT's website under dealers.

I would have to agree with Bob. I had my pair for about a year before I purchased a nice Jolida tube amp with seperate outs for the subs. I have mine tri-wired and it has made a substantial difference. If you haven't tried a tube amp your really missing out.

Strength:

huge sound, smooth, great sound stage

Weakness:

Huge cabinets, weighs a ton

I am absolutely thrilled with these speakers! I spend the bulk of my listening time watching movies, and could not be happier with the performance. These speakers are nothing short of amazing for home theater use and serve very nicely for music listening as well. I have an Energy AC300 Center Channel speaker to round out the front, hooked to a Marantz 880 MkII receiver. The combination has been wonderful, delivering excellent punch, clarity and seamless transitions in movie action.

It took me a while to find a bass setting that worked well for both music and home theater. I never thought I could find a speaker combination capable of 'too much bass' but the BP2000s will literally shake things off the walls. With the bass dialed in just under half, and the subs facing out, the result is a rich, clear, musical experience. At first, the combination seemed a little bright with some music. The sound mellowed nicely after a couple months of burn in time.

Simply put, if space is not a concern, these speakers will be hard to beat at any price!

Strength:

Would have some but I can't find them at a good price

Weakness:

Can't find them at a good price

Does anyone know where I can find these at a good discount? I found my last ones at 50% off retail and I would at least like to get CLOSE to that with the DF.

Internet, mail order, it doesn't matter, just cheaper then normal!
