I went to Circut City with five CDs of my favorite music (usually includes Tony Levin on bass). When I left, I had bought four of these great speakers. Yes I said FOUR. The sales guys wanted to hear what four of them sounded like and hauled them home for me. Needless to say with eight twelve inch woofers in my living room, the whole neighborhood enjoys my speakers as well.

Strength:

would make a good doorstop

Weakness:

sound

These speakers are horrible. They are loud and inaccurate. Where is the imaging? I don't see how anyone could give these speakers a rating higher than a 1. Well I guess I could.... they could be deff. Come on people look at the build quality on these things. Its horrible. Sounddesign at kmart has better build quality than this junk. Do yourself a favor and go listen to at least paradigm titans and a pdr-10 sub. It can kill any of this stuff. If you have more $$$ go look at the B&W 600 series which can kill anything cheaper than it.

I previously owned a pair of Polk Audio 5+ jr bookshelf speakers. I liked the speaker but the tweeter didn't accept a high amount of volume because the protective circuitry would cut out and make the music sound extremely dull. The speakers had a 1" silver coil dome tweeter, a 6 1/2" midrange/woofer and a 6 1/2" passive radiator. Power handling was 100 watts.I wanted to take care of this problem so I decided to check out loudspeakers for a good price. The answer was DCM. I bought a pair of KX-212's and I can only say that these are the loudest, clearest, and distortion free speaker I have ever heard. I love them!!! Caution: Do not turn up these speakers around glass. Shattering may result.

I own a set of KX-212 speakers and Love the rich (TONE) that these speakers reproduce-they have excelent mid range IMPACT-something that MANY speakers are missing.they also have some of the loudest cleanest bass..you will find ANYWHERE in the price range.

my only complaint was the bullet tweeters Lack of Clarity and separation at high volume ie.everything sounds like a constant ringing at cymbal frequencys.
Im looking for a suggestion as to replacing the tweeters..any suggestions.
Please e-mail me.

The KX-212 is an excellent speaker for the money (I believe they list for $400 EACH, not per pair as listed above). They are well built and can play very loud and clear.
However, I must inform Brian S. that the KX-212 DOES exist and that it was the top model KX loudspeaker. The KX-12 series two is relatively new (relative to the KX-212) and the DCM website is even newer (they've just recently updated it). I'm glad you're happy w/the speakers but you should check out the history of the speaker before condemning its reviewers as misinformed!

Strength:

cheap price for LOUD speakers

Weakness:

Tweeters make your ears ring off the hook by the time the woofers start cranking good.

I tried holding my hand over the tweeter at loud volumes and it sounded better at loud volumes (my ears are still ringing from my test 5 hours ago and I only played it loud for less than 2 min.s, I don't like damaging my ears so I can hear/feel the base, I'm going to replace the tweeters w/ something that does not SCREAM so loud and nasty! >>>> on replacing the tweeters. The tweeter is a 3/4" horn-loaded bullet tweeter.

Strength:

fast responsive bass 12' woofers but not the thunder of 15' **great for college parties and hard to steal b/c they are so big and tall!

Weakness:

Not the same base as 15' Cerwin Vegas. These speakers like to be cranked but are still ok/so-so at lower volumes on my kenwood.

I went to CCity and heard these bad boys on an Onkyo M504 amp and they rocked the house so I decided they would work in place of the Cerwin Vegas that I wanted. But after running them with a descent Kenwood (kr-v9080 2x120watts) I am still wanting more depth but definitely do not need louder. Three seconds and your ears are starting to ring, no joke, great for college parties.

I went to a local store and blind tested all the speakers and these were by far the best. The cds I tried out were Korn, Tool, Rage, Depechmode and Mozart. How could a speaker that is this good be this cheap! Great highs mids and lows. I dont see how cerwin vega and others compete. If you get these speakers make sure the hole neighborhood likes what kind of music you like and put extra nails on all the things hanging up. Id give it a higher rating but seens how their is only five stars ill give it five.
