lack of bass when using them as fronts.

I have the ls-15's, the ls-c6, 2 lw-15, and the ls-8's.
I use my ls-8's as rears for my sound. When i whatch movies i get scared. i have 4 15 inch subs, (all made by cv), i have cv's best ceterchannel and cv's best rears, i have a 50" tv and when i whatch dvd's i want to whatch it over and over again. Playing musix is awsome! Im only 16 and i spent all summer working to buy this. My friends love coming over to my house and chilling, whatching movies or just sitting around listening to loud musix. My dad gets made because its so so so so so loud. My mom loves the loud musix. All this stuff is in my basement. Sometimes i just play the musix and go outside and play b-ball. Its crystal clear from outside! I recommend ALL CERWIN VEGA products not just for loudness but for clearity aswell!

handles the highs and midrange very well, loud

in the under $200 range per speaker, it's hard to find a better deal than these. they are crystal clear, and can play very loud w/ out distortion, a signature of CV. if you're a bass fan, you'll prob want to get a sub with these, and then you're all set. another solid product from CV...i definitely recommend the LS-8's.
p.s. it really sucks that people rip this speaker up with 1 star ratings...that is simply ridiculous and inaccurate, and quite unfortunate to any readers. apparently these people are uninformed...i can see maybe giving a cheap pioneer speaker a one star rating...but these are truly a steal at the price they are.

I bought a pair of LS-8 speakers for about $250 from Best Buy without doing any real research. When I got home and hooked them up there was a light Buzzz sound as soon the amp was turned on. You could not hear it during loud music, but since I like softer music this "cheap speaker" like buzz during the quiet parts made me mad. I wrote Cerwin-Vega to see if it I could do anything, but I got no reply from them (I asked twice). I gave up and took the speakers back.
Then, this time, I did some extensive research on all types of speakers... the result - Tannoy M-2 Speakers for about the same price (just a bit more). Well, I hooked them up and WOW! I had no idea good speakes made such a difference! I could not be happier with my Tannoy speakers.

Never again Cerwig-Vega. Although I understand that Cerwig-Vegas are really good if all you care about is LOUD MUSIC! So if you want clear sound I say stay away from Cerwin-Vega.

Excellent Clarity and Great Soundstage if you power them well and surround them with other Cerwins.

They are weak in the bass department but they are 8" bookshelf woofers. If you want to use these as fronts, GET A SUB.

Great speakers for the money I was previously using an ancient pair of unknown fronts and the difference was night and day. I'm using a Cerwin 10" sub so the lack of bass is not noticable.

For a small room they are more than sufficient and they deliver. I have pushed them and have not yet tripped the fuse.
For large rooms however they probably should be uses as rears.

so far i haven't had any trouble from them but they distort about 25 watts from blowing the fuse if you want some speakers either get bose or cerwin vega

These give you great bang for the buck. I especially like them for movies, but they are very clear with music as well. I like the clarity most.

bass

These speakers are a good buy for people looking to pick something up for under $300. They provide clear sound and are nice with dvd. Clearly there are better speakers out there, but these are great for the money. Personally, I'm more into the clarity and singing than the bass, which these speakers give you. If you want more bass, try JBL.
