Strength:

Wonderful sound quality, back-breaking abilities under 100hz, very clean highs

Weakness:

there's a hollow point in the mids; i had to double up with a pair of re-30's.

I will never regret dropping $700 for these masterpieces. I've owned a pair of re-30s for five or six years, and i have pushed them HARD for ungodly amounts of time over an extremely long time. They still sound wonderful and clear (though i've had to replace, and re-replace one of the midranges), so after buying this wonderful Denon DRA-685 reveiver to replace the Sony STR-D965 I blew up for the second time with the 12"s, I decided to invest in the big boys themselves. I had my eyes on these babies for a long time, and I simply don't understand why anyone would ever give the things less than five stars other than that they think they know what they're talking about when they don't like the way these speakers sound, when really they need to replace their receiver or cd player. I've had problems with that, and come to think of it, I didn't like my older pair at first, but it was only a matter of replacing OTHER components. Matter of fact, I'm going to the re-30s right now to tell those sneering "audiophiles" who think they can pretend to know what they're talking about where to go.

Strength:

Loud w/strong bass even with a low wattage receiver. Big sound for small price.

Weakness:

Need a very powerful receiver (at least 500watts)to get good, clean, defined sound out of them.

I don't watch alot of TV but wanted something for my entertainment center and something to just play music loud for when I throw an occasional party so all I really need mainly is volume and bass. I knew exactly what I needed. So I bought these CV's with the 9yr (blow 'em as many times as you want) warranty. I haven't blown them yet though. For $800 these speakers are great. As far as clarity goes, we use a cheap low wattage kenwood receiver. The speakers are extremely loud and get the crowds goin'. To my surprise, I hooked up a few different receivers that were all over 500watts and the speakers sounded pretty clear and every sound in the music was extremely defined for as loud as I had them turned up(I was yelling at the top of my lungs to my friend who was right next to me as we listened) Although these speakers are definately not audiophile quality, they definately perform well as a loud speaker that you can use and abuse. If you are someone who only listens to classical music, then I definately do not recommend these for you. If you are someone who just likes their music loud (be it rap, rock, techno, etc.) then by all means, these are it. Remember, before you buy them, if you are going to listen to these somewhere besides your home, make sure it's with a good receiver and they are positioned at least 15ft away from each other. These speakers are meant to fill a large area with sound and we have them 20ft apart at our house and they definately do the trick. Just so you don't think I'm some kid who doesn't know what I'm talking about, I do have a studio where I create and mix music and have around $10,000 in audio equipment that is all professional quality and is definately above and beyond these CV's. This review is nonbiased...only informative.

Strength:

Very clean bass and high frequency. Good Sound Stage

Weakness:

Only came with a 2amp fuse.

I purchased these speakers about a year ago. When I first purchased them, I was very disappointed in them. However, I knew that CV made a good and solid speaker. Therefore, I started to evaluate the other componets in my system. The first, was to upgrade my pre-amp, then puchase a quality cd player, buying quality interconnects, quality speaker cable, and then a quality EQ (I know may audiophiles would object to an EQ, but I purchased the C-101 from Audio Control, and I am greatly impressed. It comes with a calibrated microphone to allow you to see the problems in your listening room. Then it allows you to adjust for these problems to get the proper sound stage)

I found that by purchasing higher quality equipment, made all the difference in the world. I mean you could purchase a $50,000 speaker, but if your equipment is cheap, the speakers will sound bad no matter how good the speakers are said to be.

I am greatly impressed with the CV LS 15's. I do agree that you need a higher powered amp to run the speakers at high level without clipping. I'm currently using a 500 watt amp. I would also advise replacing the fuse with a 3 or 4 amp fuse, if your going to run at higher volumes.

My philosopy is stereo systems is, "You get what you pay for." I truely believe this is true in most stereo componets.

By far the best speakers I have ever had or heard. Very well matched with a high end technics receiver. This speaker is a must. You can spend more, but why? I havent seen a speaker out there with a better db range than this one. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!

I was in best buy looking around at the klh's when these huge ass monsters cought my eye. i played em for a while and have desided they were worth the extra 300 or so bucks more than the K's they sound much crisper, deeper bass, better highs, louder, better constructed, looks better.
but cost is a lil bit high but you get what you pay for!
as soon as i get my money. i think i will get me a pair of these hudge things. I think my amp should do pretty good with em. 200 watts to each channel, it's a 2 channel.

Strength:

Overall sound quality

Weakness:

None i have noticed so far

I just got these big brutal speakers and i love the sound from them and i havent runned them in yet..........i use a NAD C370 amp with 2 * 120 Nad watt. They seem to have what it takes to run these babies. They look really nice even though i didnt like the whay the look in the cataloque. It`s a great speaker for a guy like me, i`m only 15 so they really rock with the music i listen to. But i hope the highs and mids get even better with som running in. I got a very small room so i cant really crank them, only with ear plugs............i will be posting a follow up later when i runned them in and got better cables..............

Strength:

Boom... sonic BOOM! Clear strong bass.

Weakness:

need more power handling.
Cops. :)

I picked these up as an open box buy. It was a STEAL.
I currently am running a Carver Cube amp (200 x 2), and have blown the fuses on these speakers twice. But I must say, they have pissed off my neighbors. They sound great on my TV, and as others would have said, it would be good if they had dual midranges. the bass just takes over. :)

If you're into small speakers, do NOT get this. These babies will spook you. My speakers currently reside in my TV room, lurking in the corner....waiting to be fed some power juice.

If you like loud music with lots of bass, this will do the job. Works best with dance and rock. Classical music would probably sound better on a pair of infinity's.

IF you can get a paid, get 'em.

if not, well, yer S.O.L. :)
