Great sound deep bass with strong highs.powered by an sony str-de835.you don't need a sub woofer when you own these speakers.I've had these speakers since they were put on display at sears.they have lasted me for a long time with over 2000 hours of play. I recommend to anyone who love bass.

Strength:

Amazing, tight, thumping bass for a 10".

I am, admittedly, not an audiophile, but I know what sounds good and what doesn't. I listened to quite a few speakers before settling on these puppies. I have had them for slightly over a week, and am very pleased. Remember that for some of us price is an important consideration, so the price/performance ratio is important to me. I got these for $260 delivered ($97/each on UBid auction, $60 UPS ground shipping).

I have an older Sony STR-D1015, which seems to put out plenty of power to make these babies perform. I am a heavy rap/rock/trance listener, so the impressive bass performance dropped my jaw. I was stupid last time and bought Bose 301's for the name -- weak speakers.

Anyhow, I am very pleased, and since I did extensive research in the under $300 category, I can say that this is the best speaker out there for that price.

Strength:

speaker surrounds are a pretty color

Weakness:

bass is boomy and distorted

This review is based on a comparison of Cerwin-Vega E310 and
KLH 1230SB. By far the KLH speakers sound better in all areas. Heard these both today in the sound room at Fry's so I can't say the environment was great, but I couldn't believe the Cerwin-Vega's sounded that bad. They were playing some sort of rap music which I hear from these reviews are the sort of music the CV's handle best. Bass was
muddy and distored. Highs were raspy. There was no salesman around so I switched to the KLH speakers and the sound immediately sounded more clear. Bass was tight and highs were clear and not too bright. I suggest that any interested in the CV's compare them to KLH. I did not buy either one.

Strength:

Inexpensive

Weakness:

Dull, muted sound

I have these and the Infinity SM215 hooked up to my receiver and there is no comparison. The sounds and clarity of the Infinity far surpasses that of the 310. I have to turn the volume way up on the 310 to match the same volume as the 215 but the sound quality isn't close. I paid $77 each for the 310s and will use them in another room. The 215s were only $87 and are a much better buy.
