I was on a VERY tight budget when assembling my system, and I came upon these. I am very impressed with the quality, as if I really did not hear music until I heard these speakers in action. They bring tears of joy to my eyes, and for the price I paid, to the eyes of my accountant as well. Only caveat is that with an impedence of 4ohms, make sure your amp can handle these beasts, they draw lots (and LOTS) of power. Overall, recommended with little reservation.

I just got my pair, and I am in love!I am hearing sounds that I didn't know were there!
When I was listening to Zoolok by Jean Michel Jarre, I could hear twice as much instruments and effects, as compared to when I was listening on my Pioneer Home theater system.(sucks big time. I just sold it off ebay)

Wonderful speakers. Five stars!!!

Strength:

Imaging
Price. The pair cost me $300 plus shipping at Ebay.

Weakness:

4-6ohms draws substantial power
Music seems "Muddy" with certain artist selections - mostly rock/pop

I was drawn buy price and manufacturer reputation into buying the Celestion Impact 40 and Center-Two speakers - perhaps the weak link in entertainment system. After relocating this product for ten months and upgrading every other component in my entertainment center, I am not altogether satisfied with the Impact 40s as they are a little "muddy" with many of my music selections (primarily rock/pop). I think that I found the optimum placement of these speakers. I do like their imaging overall, and I am imprest with the reproduction of country and instrumental music. I was told that by adding a good amplifier and a sub, I will be more satisfied. I bought the Parasound HCA1205 (realised significant improvement), I will soon buy the M&K 105 (or Paradigm 1200) subwoofer. Other equiptment: Marantz AV600; Denon AVD2000; Toshiba SD3109 (DVD/CD).

Strength:

Great value for the money, good bass, very musical with realistic soundstage.

Weakness:

Bass can be muddy at times with certain music such as heavy rock. 4 ohms requires a good amp.

I purchased the 40s for $300 because they represented a great value for a tower speaker which, according to many, could handle a wide variety of music, as well as movies, with a good deal of realism. To me, realism means a good soundstage with a sound at least reminiscent of live music or movie theater sound. I have not been disappointed. I use an Onkyo Integra M504 which feeds about 230 watts into the 4 ohm 40s and the sound is generally excellent on a wide variety of music including hard and soft rock, alternative rock, jazz, blues and classical. The sound is also excellent on movies played on my SONY DVD player and through my SONY DSS system. I highly recommend these speakers (if any are still available, or from the used market)to those looking for a great pair of Home Theater speakers (for music and movies) at an unbelievably low price.

Strength:

Very low and accurate bass response

Weakness:

Not very high primas

I bought these speakers almost 3 years ago. I have been useing them in a 5.1 home theater installation. I must say that you will be surprised from how low frenquencies they can play. On the other hand i beleive that the twieters are a litle week for the bass it produces.
