Strength:

Clarity, soundstage, Bass is strong and tonal, Hi's are musical but not laid back. Very sturdy!!...great solid construction...doesnt look too bad either.

Weakness:

Not bi-wirable...if that is important to you, hard to place in small homes because of space required around cabinet due to 8" woofer ...needs stands to get full performance.

Bought These 5 Years ago and never looked back! Great, articulate Bass from long throw 8" woofer, added to super silky smooth and detailed 1" silk dome tweeter make for years of revealing, powerful, and fatigue free listening. Speaker mates well with my parasound creek amp/pre combo, and allows for great soundstage and voice reproduction...at the same time it comes through for acoustic rock and bass heavy electronic stuff. Always felt like I got way more for my money than others and everyone who's ever heard them agrees. I would highly recommend as used speaker cause mine are out of warranty and still going strong but took 'em in for checkup before warrantee ran out and they still reproduce to factory spec's. Great service too! Would recommend new as well if possible but... discontinued. Celestion used their laser measurement technology to build these and still uses same design philosophy on all their high end models. Very happy with purchase.

I purchased the Celestion Impact 20's in the summer of 1995 through mail order. The Speakers have a 8 inch woofer and 1 inch tweeter and are approx. 20 inches high. These speakers really sound good. they have a very smooth balance. While the low end is not that heavy, you should check these speakers out if you are in the market for new speakers.

Strength:

Looks, 8" woofer, natural, balanced sound

Weakness:

not biwirable

Good value speakers. Only 40cm high but with 8" woofer. Produces very natural balanced sound, smooth, well projected vocals, extended bass response, clear highs. Can play very loud, producing thumping bass! Good stereo imaging, but a bit fussy over placement, though. Has high 90db senstivity and 8ohms, therefore very easy for even modest amps to drive. Very nice cherry wood finish, they look very svelte with grills removed.

This is a clarification of my review of the Celestion Impact 20 speakers. The actual cost of a pair should be $200 to $250 and not the $400 which
I quoted previously.

I bought a pair of Celestion Impact 20s about a year ago to use in mycondo. I also bought stands since they are too small for floor mounting.
With the right amplifier they are very musical with very clean highs
and midrange and an ample and clear bass. The 8 inch woofers are rare
in a speaker at this price. I believe they are discontinued but, if you
can find a pair for around $400, you should try them! I give them a
rating of 4.5. (I haven't heard anything else in this price range
that sounds as clean and musical as these.)
