Strength:

bass is weighty for 6 1/2" woofer, looks, that midrange

Weakness:

can sound harsh in treble particularly if underpowered, need power to really go loud.

got these for next to nothing with a little damage to the venee.r sound is reaching with a smooth midrange like alot of transmission line types bass isn't as fast as it could be but well extended sounds like 35-40 hz the lowest. I am a celestion fan and quite like these. the tweeter can make your teeth grind though, getting harsh at loud volume but like most celestions i put that down to weak amplification (celestions need power) i cured this with 100 wpc proffesional power amp and the tweeter just behaved itself at any volume i desired. If you'r after a good sounding pair of floorstanders that that are tall and look great than buy with confidence not to forget that celestion bass weight sound and smooth midrange.

Strength:

Excellent detail, center image and sound stage. VG bass and a mid range to die for!!

Weakness:

Can get a bit shrilly at high volumes with bright music... Not a meatl speaker. Great for Jazz, Vocals, and classical.

This is an excellent speaker. I bought these at accommodation through my employer at that time. They are a 2 way transmission line with excellent bass, a very smooth and detailed midrange, but these have he same high frequency shrill at higher volumes like it's bookshelf cousin the Celestion 5. The sound integrates welll and really sound better with separates than with even HQ receiverer's, but we all know thats a very subjective area. I used mine with an Adcom GFP-565 and GFA-535.. Awesome sound. these are rare on the used market, and i've never seen a pair on Ebay in over 2 years. If you can find a pair in good shape..snatch'em up.. you won't be sorry. Expect to pay 300-400 or so for a good used pair. If your a vinyl lover.. try these with a good T/table and pre amp/amp set up. You'll be pleasantly surprised!!
