I was at a local high end shop looking at the VR950s (which I purchased and love) when one of the sales people told me that the VR200 sub was on sale for $399 because it was being discontinued. I immediately said that I wanted it and while I was there picked other surround speakers to go with it. I have the VR12 for center, VR950s for mains, CR6s for rears and the VR2000 for sub. I was a little worried because my listening area is about 17' by 17' and I had been told by a few people that I might want two subs or a strong 15" sub. Let me tell you that I was truly blown away by this sub. I keep it down below half power and I am still finding myself adjusting it down one notch at a time. The base is clean and mixes beautifully with the rest of my speakers. It makes a bigger difference than I could have ever imagined. It works very well with music or Home Theatre but I particularly like it with HT. It comes with a polarity switch, tone control, volume control, and a switch for On/Auto On-Off/ Off. One thing that I never realized was how complicated it would be to set up a sub woofer. Other speakers that I've bought I hooked up and spent about 20 minutes making adjustment to my liking but with this thing I've been watching movies all day and I'm still tuning it to my liking. When you get it just right it is like magic! I think that my biggest problem was that I had the volume up too loud on it to begin with. Like I said, I still find myself turning the volume down little by little. This thing has power and it is THX certified. I got it for $399 but after listening to it I would easily pay much more. Get one now before they are gone and you are stuck with a super high price newer model.

Strength:

THX Certification, Dedicated THX/AC-3 input, Phase switch, Adjustable electron crossover, Speaker and line level inputs and outputs, and solid construction.

Weakness:

No gold plated five-way binding posts. Enclosure is a little large for 12 incher

This powered subwoofer never ceases to amaze me. I have owned a Velodyne FSR-15 in the past, but the VR2000 has left me just as satified if not more so at times. Kick drums and explosions have never felt so authoritative. This subwoofer has tons of features on it so even those who do not yet have a Digital Dolby/DTS system can utilize this sub. Like others I have read about, I purchased my VR2000 for $600.00 because it was a discountinued model. The VR2000 has definitely enhanced my listen pleasure more than I ever imagined it would. It sounds solid, effortless, and controlled at any volume. But when it needs to it can make the mice nervous. I glad others who have purchased this subwoofer feel the same as I do.

I have lived with this sub for 2 years. It delivers well defined, powerful bass, but must be placed with care, as any sub should. If set up correctly, it will add a nice, full low end to movies and music. It does not go down as low as the HGS series from Velodyne, nor the Sunfires (etc.), but it also does not cost as much as they do either.

Easy to set up and very well built, it can take a pounding as I like to listen to music with alot of bass as well as movies with action and sound effects.

Highly recommended.

picked up this sub at a local dealer for 600$ closeout. If you can find one of these babies jump all over it. This sub has the ability to due music very well and Home theater. Most subs don't move quick enough to reproduce music but this one can and does. It has 350 watts, variable crossover and is front firing with two ports in the rear. If your looking for big sound, clean reproduction then this is the one. I rated it a 4 because I don't think anything is perfect.

Strength:

The thunder rolls.

Weakness:

None for $699

Coupled with VR-500 in HT system and all is well. Played with crossover so the 500 does upper bass and the 2000 lies in wait for the intense scenes. I've had unaware guests startled at some heavy sound effects. Great for music too!
