i bought this CR400 and Microseries 90 to go with my new new Yamaha 795 and Sony DVP6000 5 changer DVD/CD player and am VER happy with sound!! My friends are estonished when they hear the quality, and then I point out the little-bitty front speakers that are almost "hiding" in my bookcase (yes, i got the white as my wife suggested), and they are more estonished. The Cast-aluminum construction is the best on the market, each front speaker must weigh 10-12 pounds. You get the high-end Lynnfield series tweeter to go along with the 3 1/2 midrange, and the speration adn highs are very good. For my room Cr400 is very good, although I have a trade-in agreement to go to the CR500 if i think i need it within 30 days.

Buy these speakers, put in Fleetwood Mac "the dance", and you think you are at the real thing. Kenny G, Kirk Whalum, and other jazz tunes come through clear. Even Rush - Tom Sawyer - soungs great for jammin rock.

I looked hard for 2-3 months at Paradigm, Energy, B&W, and they are all good. I think the final factor was the high-end tweeter, the rock-solid construction, and the overall sond for the size. Was willing to go for a 12" or so bookshelf, like the CR7, or B&W 302, but could not hear the reason why.

I love the CR400 and feel that it is the best sub for the price. I use mine primarily as part of my home theater while watching movies. I have listened to music with it also and do not find it lacking. I have never wished I had purchased anything else.

i've had the CR-400 for a few months now, and am very pleased with it. for home theater, it produces excellent lows for it's size. it's more than powerful enough for my family room. i agree with other posters that a corner placement makes a huge difference, and one you get the crossover and volume right, it sounds superb.

I recently purchased this sub for $320. I have nothing but good things to say about it. It produces loud low bass that fills the room I have placed it in. I also have to agree that placement is important, this sub sounds best in the corrner of the room. Purchase this one while you can, I have heard that Boston will be replacing it with a new unit sometime this fall/winter.

Just for clear out, I think that message from Mr. Miguel Restrepo was wrongly posted here (he is talking about another BA speakers). About the CR400 my opinion is that this sub is very good for the price, maybe the best in this size. Of course, there are better subwoofers but there are more expensive.

I purchased a CR-400 along with a center channel as part of my initial journey into home theater. I've since gone the full package (Dolby Digital receiver, DVD player, center and surround speakers as well). I believe placement and settings are everything with this piece. With corner placement and careful adjustment of volume and crossover, I've been able to get wall rattling, floor shaking satisfaction (without distortion) for home theater use! Action thrillers like Armageddon, The Rock, and Crimson Tide sound especially great. I tend to shut it off when I'm doing audio only listening, a pair of Boston CR-9's are used as my mains with my home theater setup. I found that tweaking back and forth for audio and home theater use got to be too much of a pain. With the right placement and adjustments, satisfaction is assured at an excellent price. The size of the listening area is important as well (17 x 12 in my case). Excellent value for the money with some limitations.
