I just purchased the AM10's after testing many other, much more expensive brands. I listened at a high end stereo outlet that offered many systems, setup in various sound rooms. HANDS DOWN, the bose were way superior in sound for home theater. All others were just noisy when compaired to Bose. Yes, even the little AM-6 system beat other brand systems costing three times the price. Let your ears be your guide, I repeat, LET YOU EARS BE YOUR GUIDE! Dont settle for just noise, listen to Bose. The quality is so much better that it isnt even close. I love my new Bose AM10's. Heck!, I'd even settle for the AM-6's if I had to chose between the others I listened to. I'd give them 5 stars but I didnt like paying for those expensive brackets (my only gripe).

I personally own the AM7 and AM5. I am not going to say they are great speakers. Or that they are worthy of their price tag. But i have read some of these posts and realize that a lot of people out there will listen to the speakers, then see all this hype, and think they are terible. There not terible, and their not great, there just all right. Most people seem to just follow the crowd, they will "just go with the flow". Maybe instead of litening to other people, try making a decesion on your own. Too many people just speak, or type, or whatever, before actually thinking.

Josh is right! As an x-Hi-Fi salesman, speakers sell themselves. What you hear is not what I hear or he or she here's. Buy what ya like! Just make sure you have a price in mind and take the time to listen to as much as possible in that price range. You might be surprised. The two star posting by the way is my own opinion not yours.

I have a moral responsibility to report my Bose experience. I got the Bose as a gift and was under the impression (aided by Circuit City) that they were the best in their class. I built my home theater around them and remained under the impression that this was excellent sound. Then I started to get curious. Movies just didn't have the umfp and clarity I was looking for. I was sold on Bose so I figured it was the receiver and the VCR and eventually the DVD.
Guess what, it was the Bose. I am not a Bose Basher. I am an X-lover, which is much different. By not listening to any sales person, but by using my ears I have found them to be extremely overpriced and easily beat. I just sold off my Bose system and am looking forward to my new system in mid-June. I actually paid for the new speakers and a 10" powered sub for what I sold my Bose system for. I would not recommend this setup at all. The bass module is weak and has a very limited range. It is also not a complete transfer for Dolby Digitial. For Home Theater it is not tight, but punchy, suddenly thumping in the middle of the Bass range. Please look at other HT setups out there and save yourself the feeling paying too much for too little.

I give these 1 speaker because they are overpriced, lower quality, and limited for Digitial Theater, with a very poor Bass response.

You know being a:Musician
Hi Fi salesman

Does not exclude one from being tone deaf. If somebody EVER says "Well I have the Infinity Epsilon system, but I still think Bose sounds GREAT" indicates tone deafness.
I doesn't even take a trained ear to tell Bose is junk. I suppose then you can own Legacy Audio Focus, and yet Fisher speakers still sound awesome.
Bose offers the LEAST true audio reproduction for the MOST money. As a salesman, then you knew the scam. How could anyone point someone toward Bose and sleep at night? HUGE PROFITS!
If anyone hears a high end system, and still prefers Bose, then they truly cannot hear the astronomical difference. Probably the same people that keep tone controls fully maxed and all EQ sliders to the top.
If you fall into this category, you may have severe hearing problems and I urge you to seek medical help, and an audiometric exam.
Value and sound get ONE star.
Because I used to sell REAL speakers.

I took pride in never pushing anyone or anybody in buying something I knew I could make a profit on. I asked honestly what they wanted to listen to and showed them and let them listen to every other speaker product in their price range and then let them make their own decision. I'm not fond on Bose speakers but there are some people that are. I quit the Hi-Fi business because scamming the customer was something that my employers expected and something I was'nt willing to do.

These speakers REALLY are below par, and I'm speaking from experience because my sister owns them...They have a terrible midbass thump and somehow the sound doesn't gel together as it should. Plus the build quality is flimsy for the (exalted) price they're asking for this product. Here in Holland, every decent hifi magazine leaves them alone except for Q&Q magazine, which is owned by......Bose!! So much for objective journalism! And in response to some previous postings on this site, I would like to add that:
a) I don't care if the guy is a "Dr." (Dr. Bose), even if the bloody Queen herself had made this product I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole.

b) I'm not saying this because I can't afford this crappy product, I own Mission 753 Freedom speakers which retail at about $2000 US dollars if I'm not mistaken, hooked up to Myryad amplification and source, which will blast Bose out of the sky.

So give yourself a chance and audition some decent speakers ( eg. B&W, Dynaudio, Mission, Kef, Chario etc.) before you decide to buy Bose, you won't regret it!

Whatever Juanita, thats more info than I needed. I have the AM10's and really love them. Especially with DTS DVD's. The Eagles reunion Dts DVD sounds fantastic with my Bose. I havent heard such audio clarity since I use to hang around the recording studio with my father when he was recording. If anyone that has these isnt getting great sound, then recheck your receiver settings. I had mine wrong till I read the setup manual, which covers all receiver settings. Since these are small sized speakers, I had mine set for SMALL. WRONG!! The manual says there full or LARGE speakers and to set the receiver as such for the different speakers. Then, I put in the Eagles (not listed in the manual). WOW!
