Strength:
The loyalty of the Bose Inquisition.
Weakness:
Cartoonish and dull, inadequate sound. I can think of no vitriol that hasn't been spat at these pathetic, steaming piles already. It truly is a case of shooting ducks in a tub. While trashing these comical-farces-of-speakers is amusing, my day allows me to waste little time on dog feces of this nature. Similar Products Used: KLH, my Wal-Mart generic clock radio. |

Strength:
Makes a great paper weight.
Weakness:
The misuse of natural resources which take a long time to replace How can a company who spends $.50 for every dollar on advertising consider itself to be in the audiophile catagory? If you buy these speakers you might as well shoot yourself in the head. They absolutley suck. A technology that has basically not changed since the mid 1970's. I compared the Bose speakers with my $750 pair of Castle Acoustic Severn 2's (which have a real rosewood veneer) and the difference was night and day. Bose has done a great job in fooling people about what a speaker should sound like. Don't buy these awful speakers or anything else from this company. Unless that is, you like to listen to crap. Strength:
Unsurpassed frequency response at all sound levels
Weakness:
not enough bass for some peoples tastes....not for the person who drives around with $1000 dollars worth of amps and subwoffers... I see alot of animosity for the 901`s out there and I dont belive these people are true audiophiles. The music you listen to should be accurately represent what you might here at a live performance....not an artificially boosted levels of base that some people seem too enjoy these days. I have to think alot of people like the overloud thumping base you have with high powered subs boosting base to rediculously high levels. This is a matter of taste. My personal taste is to have my music presented to me in the most accurate way possible....via the Bose 901 ser IV. The 901`s are not suited to the super base lovers which is their only drawback. But most stereo speakers that I have heard are lacking in one respect or another and if you buy for base you sacrifice the true pureness of sound quality. My 901`s ROCK!!! they can achieve levels of sound that hurts the ear, shakes the walls and brings out vibrations and rattles in everything in the house.....except the 901`s themselves. Absolutly no desortion at any level of sound provided your amp doesnt start clipping. Clipping is caused by the amp not having the reserve power to allow the speakers to punch out the highs. The 901`s are also the most efficiant speakers in this respect allowing much more audio for the watt than any speaker I have ever tested. You really have to be trying to get your amp to clip with the 901`s. I have a Technics 250watt reciever that will clip with the 901`s only at max volume, most others start clipping at 50% to 75% full volume. The 901`s are not for everyone....just those who enjoy listening to music as it was intended to be heard. Similar Products Used: BIC formula 4, BIC formula 5, bose 901 series III |
