For those who would rather waste their hard earned money on over priced JBL's or Pyle, or other cheap immitations. Let me just say that these speakers rock.Ask anyone who just granaded their Boston Acustic's |

I can't believe I've wasted so much money on these speakers. I think that Cerwin-Vega makes better speakers for the bucks. |

The 701's DO ROCK! They pump 200 Watts a channel! After listening to DVD's of Godzilla and Tomororow Never Dies I was just left shaking my head at how awesome these speakers really are! I had to remind myself over and over that I |

From "Walt's"> post Kids Kids Kids, Listen to the beautiful sound that Bose has offered for so many years now. Do you think companys like Cadilac and other GM , NASA, The USA Olympics,(just to name a few) would use Bose if it was Junk?? Not! Of course I guess the executives are dumb, Hu? -No, it's called brand recognition. NASA uses Bose as NOISE CANCELLATION, not hi fi. GM's sound systems are poor. The Ford JBL mach, Monsoon, and Infinity are FAR better "stock" systems. The Bose still sound grainy. BTW: Bose could have been an incentive as lowest name brand bidder!!! NOT QUALITY That would be misleading to think they are high quality sound. |

That's interesting, Jimmy. Why do you think the Cerwin Vegas are better? I thought they sounded muffled and flappy. Which model are you referring to? My Bose are still making me happy after 2 years. |

Staggering that one can consider himself an Audiophile and like Bose. I think there should be a term like, "Bosophile" or the like that describes someone who likes to listen, but doesn't have any capability to distinguish poor, limited range paper speakers from high quality units made from quality materials. One could say "I love my Bose" and "I enjoy their sound" but if they say "My Bose sound better than anything, then they cannot meet the criteria of being an audiophile because that requires 20hz to 20khz reproduction which NO BOSE can do by design. |

I feel those who bash Bose are usually impressed with the phoney bass thumping (noise makers). These same guys work at McDonalds!! Not GM or NASA! "Realistic highs and lows can only be Bose" |

I use Bose 701's for my fronts and center (VC 10) and I am happy as a pig in ShIt when playing a movie or just watching TV. I watched Dragonheart DTS 5.1 today and I was blown away, I love them!!! I listened to Klipch and many other brands of speakers, for me the Bose just blew everything away in my price range. I know that a lot of people out there don't like Bose, but people who hear my system say that it is just like being at the local AMC! If I had only had the cash I would have purchased some 901's. Hay variety is the spice of life, don't get too upset, it's not that big a deal, and finally I LIKE IT THAT WAY!!! |

I can't say that I've compared my 701's to lots of other high end speakers. I did purchase them at a store that I worked at though, after working there for a year and playing with all the different speakers and setups. I'm quite pleased with them. They sound good for a wide range of musical types and volumes. Placement is indeed critical, as it is with most Bose products. They also seem to mix a little differently than some speakers. For home theater, they nearly remove the need or desire for a subwoofer (provided you have the bass mixed in). I've seen lots of Bose-bashing here, and it's not deserved. I proved people wrong with some of the opinions on paper cones and Bose sound while I was working in audio. A few of these opinions are from people who don't even own Bose speakers apparently. I find Bose products from my 701s, to my dad's 301 and 501's, to the other systems and speakers that I spend a year and a half working with to be of great quality. Again, I haven't played with multi-thousand dollar sets of speakers, but I figure, if it costs more, it darned well better sound better too. 701s are actually the best all around Bose speaker, as 901s aren't really designed for home theater due to the "all midrange" setup and omnidirectional sound they produce. 701s are also easier to position well than 901s, which are EXTREMELY picky. I believe (for those that don't know this) that the 701s should be positioned 8-20 feet apart, at least 2 feet from a side wall (on the outer side) and about 2 inches from the back wall. Bass can be tuned by moving the speaker closer or farther from the back wall, as there is a rear bass port. To conclude, 701s are great all around speakers, their only downside being the placement issues, the size, and the fact that they aren't shielded. |

I really don't know too much about speakers and such, as I am just getting into the audio world, but I think that these speakers sound pretty good (not great, though). And considering that I got them for free due to a mistake, I am going to give them 5 stars. Heck I would even take those crappy cubes Bose makes for free and then sell them. Over all though, the 701's are pretty good. |
