i ve tested them all around, and nothing beats them, even atc scm10 which cost three times more than minipods in Holland.
their value will totally distructed in the surrounding-use. cos they r too decent to be put in such a place.
they r the right choice for a nature-warm setting, which provide u the pleasure of being up late( certainly, when the volume is low tuned, it will still sing though others might not, try, u will hear.)
thye will sing quite well in the middle level volume, and with sub it will be far more invincible.

Strength:

Sexy looks, great tweeter, free shipping, great bass [for size], environmentally sound packaging.

Weakness:

No way to demo them in the US, *long* break-in period, terminals don't take spades, friends get jealous.

I was torn between these and the energys for a while. The e:xl 16s are nice sounding and a bit cheaper but I couldn't get past the camaro styling. After a 3-week wait while Blue Room got their US distribution in order [all fixed now] I finally got my blue babies. One note: the actual color of the speakers is a bit lighter [more turquoise] than is shown on the site.

At first they sounded a bit harsh and boomy, but after breaking them in and moving them out from the wall a little more everything tightened up. Note that the break-in period took about a month [I'd estimate ~100 hours]. I am actually quite satisfied with the bass performance. They won't rearrange my organs, but I have neighbors anyway and they're in an pretty small room [13 x 14"]. Watching the woofer move is a thing of wonder. At moderate volumes there's probably 1/2" of travel!

Anyway, I'd love to give them a 4.5 but I'll round up. Definitely a 5 for value. I'm looking forward to getting 3 more for HT. These might not be perfect if you listen to jazz or a lot of female vocals, but all my Blue Room records [yes, same company] sound fantastic.

Strength:

Look, sound

Weakness:

Look which fools most of the people even some serious audiophiles

Although it was the look which attracted my attention, it was the sound which really pinned me in the shop first time I came across it. I was looking for a small system for my study and my target was Mission 750LE. I have never thought Minipod can sound so loud and so clear.
7 days of conituous playing with all sorts of music from classical strings to rock & roll, my Minipods have never failed to deliver what I would have expected the album will produce. An A/B comparison with Tannoy M2.5s, the Minipods were outstanding. The Minipods were also significantly better sounded when comparison was made between KEF Cresta 2, and also Mission 750LEs

Strength:

Alien-meets-Roger Dean* looks, cool tripod landing legs, great value, and (most importantly) the sound!

Weakness:

Friends think they're toys.

I originally bought these thinking I'd use them as second speakers in my bedroom, but once I deflated the shipping bags and beheld them, I just couldn't hide them away in a bed room! Instead I did a big no-no: I removed the front speakers from my Energy Encore Surround System and put the MiniPods in their place! Please don't hate me, but they are SO COOL LOOKING I just had to have them on display in my living room! Alone, without the Encore sub firing, they sound great. Once I got the 5-inch woofers broken in, the bass really began to pump for a speaker that size. I had a musician/audio engineer over and he was blown away by the sound, which he described as "very accurate." (We were listening to a CD of music he wrote, recorded and mixed, so he knew what he was talking about.) But I don't want a speaker that's just "accurate," I want one that ROCKS, and coupled with my Encore sub, the Mini's do just that! I'm still tweaking the crossover point to find the perfect balance, but I have to say I like the sound better with the MiniPods than I did with the smaller Encore main speakers. There has always been (in my mind) a hole in the mid bass with the Encore system. The Mini's, with their larger woofer and bass port, deliver what the little Encore's could not: smooth, rich mid-bass! (I'm powering my system with a Yamaha RXV-995, so I'm providing powerful clean wattage, which is a must. They sounded muddy and flat on a mid-priced Kenwood amp I tested them on.) So if you want the coolest speakers around, and want to rock your ears AND your eyes, get the MiniPods. At the very least, check out the web site: it's as cool as the speakers! www.minipod.com (Note: the name is a bit deceptive: with the tripod legs, they stand about 15 inches tall: not so "mini," but calling them MidPods would have been unthinkable!) *bonus points if you know who this is!
