Strength:

Sorry no strengths that I could find, excpet for the design perhaps.

Weakness:

Wordt speaker ever in this price range. Cheap sounding speaker in an expensive wrapping.

I did not actually buy this speaker. But went to a B&O dealer to take a listen. To hear if it is really that bad as everyone says it is. I came to the conclusion that this really is a piece of crap.

My B&W DM604 (which are much cheaper than the B&O) are sounding 10 times as good. Don't understand why people can give 5 stars for this product. For god sakes, please listen to some other speakers before you buy B&O. The people who rate this speaker 4 or 5 stars probably only listended to B&O and no other speaker.

If you want an appealing design go to www.piega.com to see if that is anything for you. Piega is also expensive but at least they have a decent hi-end sound, and you can buy them as active speaker (but that is an option).

Only thing about this B&O is the design but I liked the Piega designs better. I give this B&O one star, and that is for all the trouble they have gone through to create this sci-fi design.

Strength:

Uniqueness

Weakness:

Lack of Bass

Lack of bass was fixed with a Velodyne HGS-10. Sound is perfect now. Truely amazing what kind of sound these can reproduce. Hooked up to a Beosound 9000 make it look like one of the best looking systems out there. The Velodyne adds even more finesse with the sound and size. I can see where people mind find it overpriced but the thing with Bang and Olufsen is that the components that you buy will not be outdated in couple of years because they came out with a newer and "improved" model. The systems are meant to last for a long time, with their style and build quality, just like a Rolex.

Strength:

Looks, only looks

Weakness:

Everything (except from look)

People who are ranking those at 5 stars just show everybody that they never listen to other speakers in the same price range. They must care just about the look, and not the sound.

Sure they are not the worst sounding speakers on earth, but for the price, they are truly the baddest quality/price/performance speakers you can get.

Bang & Olufsen is exactly like Bose, but for people who have more money to waste.

Strength:

Beatiful design and good sound for such a small unit

Weakness:

price

I don't quite understand why people bash B&O speakers. it seems that there are alot of bitter listeners out there who only wish they could afford such a beautiful piece of equipment. they may argue that it doesn't match other speakers in its price range but may i ask how big those other speakers are? enough with all the bashing...i suggest you go and have a listen for yourself. in the end you are the one who has to come home to them.

they are truly magnificent.

Strength:

Good sound for size. Designed well.

Weakness:

Price point. Lack of bass.

I think that B&O buyers are a certain type of people, that just want to own a B&O. Like my parents. I really can't say that I am impressed with the performance of this product. Don't get me wrong, the sound is great, but when you are listening too a 'busy' piece like let's say Mozarts Reqieum (I don't really like classical music, but I feel it's the best way to test a set), sounds tend to blow eachother away. There is always one sound dominating, which doesn't happen with my JBL LX33 speakers.
When I play it on my own set, I just hear more......
With a set this expensive, I expect it to be perfect. Only the name B&O makes me expect the best of the best. But this isn't the best of the best, it's only very good.

Strength:

Exceptional sound, Super-cool design, small footprint

Weakness:

Kinda weak on the low end...you definitely need a poered sub to take care of that. The price...darn things cost an arm and a leg.

You open the box and out come the two thinspeakers from their case which is very well foamed. You get a base for each speakers, 2 3'm cables, and instructions.
Setup is easy by connecting the cable to the speaker, selecting at the switch on the bottom of the speaker whether the speaker is the left or right speaker place both speakers on their lusty stand, connect the SuperLink cable to your Bang and Olufsen system and you are ready to get cracking those CD's.
The speakers are long spaghetti objects which on the front is the black grill covering the speakers themselves and getting dust off of them and on the back of the speakers it is mirror-like which you can see yourself. Wow! A mirror and speakers!

Supposedly each speaker is tested for hours to be at a perfect tone in multi-million dollar sound rooms and you can see the difference. Each speaker is a work of art in itself. Great bass, treble, and surround functions let you kick back and relax while feeling like you are actually where you song was recorded. A nice, round, thick, chunky sound which sounds as if it is going through an amplifier. I did not believe it until I actually listened myself. The sound is almost indescribable. Worth every cent!

These speakers are for the listeners that want to integrate sound into their life and not the other way around. hardcore audiophiles will not appreciate the design...these people weigh sound over looks...In the end you are the one listening to them so go and demo.

Strength:

Looks and convenience of course, and...uuhhh.
Best for rear speaks, so-so for mains.

Weakness:

Bass, dynamic range(as has been said),Bang(pun intended) for the buck.

If you want a slim set of speakers, you could certainly buy some newform ribbons or Boehlenders and pay less for far better sound.
If used in a HT setup( as the B & O store had them also setup) they work reasonably well. But then again, so do my
PhaseTechs at a fraction of the price, or any one of a number of good speakers. If you are not well off, and have mondo space considerations, and are using them as other than mains - save your money and buy something else.
B & O makes some cool stuff, but their speakers have always trailed their other components IMHO.
This is the stuff your parents(or other non-audio enthusiasts) buy.
The 8000's sounded significantly better, but are even more pricey, so even there you can do better for the $$$.
Not terrible, but more limited than they should be for the cost. there are many great speakers that will have adequate bass without a sub at this price point, and monitors(Alon or Totem or Dynaudio, etc...) which kick the cr@# out of these for a similar price range. If you audition your other options and buy these anyway, I can't help you. You picked style over substance. Enjoy.

OK, they are fairly unique. Except Piega, perhaps, which is
like so-o-o much better it can't be conveyed.

Great Speakers! Although bass may seem underpowered at times, overall effect is great. Paired with a decent sub, they are unbeatable. Vocals are clear and crisp, perhaps only second to the B&O 8000s. Great speaks for any kind of music.

Strength:

Easy to accommodate due to small size. Soundstage huge despite the size. Very sophisticated technique. Good definition. Design.

Weakness:

Bass at high volume. Otherwise none.

The Beolab 6000 is an accomplishment. As a B&O fan I have spent hours listening to the entire Beolab range. And quite frankly, I think its amazing how people can write a review of a product they have only listened to for a very short while. I mean listening to a Bang&olufsen product for 10 minutes hardly qualifies as serious listening nor is it appropriate to write a review without having the right knowledge of the product in question.

When they created the Beolab 6000 speakers, Bang & Olufsen's intention was to create a speaker that would blend in perfectly with the rest of your furniture and which would be at its best without you having to change the design of your living room. To accomplish this goal the speakers had to be small. There is nothing new in creating small speakers, but what the Beolab 6000 offers in comparison with other speakers of the same size is an amazingly huge sound stage, good definition, and an always entertaining and lively performance. The sophisticated technique, the bi-amping, shows once again that Bang&Olufsen is much more than just design. It has taken the company years to create and improve the bi-amping technique. And quite frankly I have not heard a speaker the size of Beolab 6000 that sounds this great. When most of you write that the Beolab speakers lack bass compare them to e.g. a Dali Menuet or a B&W DM 603 where the low end is absolutely missing. In that sense this speakers fulfills several goals, good sound, fantastic design, which is actually very rare these days. Aren't you sick and tired of having your living room filled with black boxes that decide where your furniture can be placed without jeopardizing the sound of that black box? And that's the strengths of not only this speaker but the entire Bang&Olufsen concept.
