Just purchased a pair of BIC V604 speakers, V52si surrounds,and V62CLR center channel. Hooked up with a HK AVR20 receiver and HK 8400 CD player. I had a $700 budget for speakers and I originally targeted the Energy Take-5 system. I was using a sub/sat setup at home and liked the sharp imaging afforded by satellite sized speakers. While shopping I came across the BIC V604s and remembered Julian Hirsch had given the smaller V504s a good review. I listened to the V604s and really liked the bipolar sound they put out, plus a very low bass suprising from
any speaker in their price range (list $700.) I compared them to NHT tower speak
ers also at the dealers, I am not going to say that they sounded as good or better than the NHTs because they do not, but the NHTs were used as a standard and the V604s compared favorably to the NHTs at a 1/3 of the price. I found a very good review of the BIC V604 and V62CLR combo at hometheatermag.com, the reviewer calling the V62CLR the best sounding center channel speaker at any price, the reviewer also felt that a subwoofer was optional with the V604s. I
purchased them two weeks ago and am very pleased with them. The bipolar sound provides good imaging with the added feeling of depth and spaciousness to the soundstage.Some might not like this type of sound, I am not going to debate which speaker design is superior, only that I have had a sub/sat system and now this system. I liked them both, but I am leaning towards the dipolar sound. I
initially spent some time positioning V604s and adjusting the bass down one click and the treble up one click to come up with the best sound for my room (large room with 12' vaulted ceilings). Hometheater sounds great, the center channel and left/right speakers provide truly sealess imaging. Some might want to add a subwoofer but at this point it seems unnecessary. For music listening I can not believe the sound/value ratio of these speakers. I am listening to CD's I haven't listened to in years and am really enjyoing the bipole sounds and below 30 Hz bass. I removed a driver to inspect the insides and found several cross braces and large well constructed inductors on the cross overs. Speaker connection is through gold plated five way binding posts. Bottom line, the V604s cost $380 for the pair, $129 for the V62CLR, and $110. for the surrounds. Based on price/performance I am giving them four stars, list price for this setup is approximately $1200.

I've had my V604's for about 2 years now. At the time, they cost me $400 a pair.For the price, I have yet to find a better pair of speakers. Mine are powered by a NAD integrated amp, which is a bit underpowered, but they still sound great.
They have tight low bass, a nice midrange and good highs. The bipolar design produces a deep, wide soundstage. My only recommendation is that these speakers be used in a fairly reflective room placed about 3 1/2 feet away from the wall
to get the best soundstage.

I have had the BIC V604 with BIC V62CLR center speaker for a little over a year and am still very satisfied. These speakers did not get much press, but what press they got was favorable. The V604's provide a soft focus image, as is typical of bipolars, and plenty of satisfying low bass, I have not felt the need to add a subwoofer. I have been running them with a HK DPL receiver and I am about to convert to a Yamaha 995 or 2095 receiver. These speakers list for around $650, but they can be had for around $400. I think that even at $650. you would be hard pressed to find a better full range speaker, assuming that you like the bipolar sound.
