Strength:

sound crispness, trebile, and balance is outsanding. features and physical appearnace are great

Weakness:

bass is not the best, defintily need a good subwoofer, othewise go for the 802's

This speaker is a perfect acoustic piece of engineering. The sound, bass, trebile and overall a smooth crip sound for all the movie listners and hardcore jazz fans. I went from a Polk 5.1 system to B&W system and it will change your entire precption of quality. I have to say this speaker must be used correctly, with the right surrounds and subwoofer, tv and cables. Please dont try this with amaturer equipment, it wont do justice.

Strength:

Extremely little colouration, no boxiness, total control, definition, very realistic, top notch vocals, huge soundstage,

Weakness:

shows the flaws in not so perfect recordings. Otherwise nothing.

I too tried the Nautilus 804's to see how well they performed in my living room, I was amazed by the openess, the cleaness and the lack of boxiness, total control they had over the music, instruments were so well defined and separated, the bass went so low. having heard how well these performed I was ready to try the slightly larger Nautilus 803's! whoah!!! what a difference, goodbye HI-FI, Hello Music, the N803's walked all over the N804's, if you have the extra cash it is well worth stepping up to the N803's, smoother highs, more natural bass, the scale of orchestras and bands is phenomenal! no boxiness, no distortion, control over mass instruments, I've still yet to run them in I've only had them a week now, one tip though, if you are not going to bi-wire I would suggest using a better interconnect between the bass and mid/treble inputs to the cabinets!

Strength:

Big,open,non fatiguing sound.Superb cabinetry,and great looks.

Weakness:

None really.

Gorgeous looks, superb build quality. They have a nice, well voiced, open sound, and a seamless integration of the frequencies, which makes for long listening sessions. Bass is ample for me,positioning of speakers and listening seat make a big difference, and experimenting is vital to get the best out of them. Midrange is superb and lucid,as is the nautilus tweeters, open and airy. I can thoroughly recommend the 803's,they are very musical, and revealing. They have no trouble for example,in revealing wether or not the PS audio power plant is supplying juice to the front end kit.

Strength:

beautiful mids, sweet highs, detailed (and yes) tight and strong bass.

Weakness:

too laid back with low power listenings or low power amplifiers. Accurate and sufficent power is required. Mids and highs are little bit closed wrt very open lines like JM Lab Utopia series.

A beautiful speaker with a lovely midrange, smooth highs and a detailed tight bass without spending a fortune on source and amplification. It is also ergonomic in size and more suitable in mid sized rooms and positioning than bigger models like 802 and 801. I have my 803s for more than 2 years now and I can definitely say they deserve their price despite the fact that they have their weaknessnes in some certain areas. Their imaging, soundstage and analytics are well defined and very satisfactory. They might be critisized for bass lines, but to me they have an accurate and well defined bass texture and a thight bass response. Midbass is better than lower bass information. Although 802 and 801 has definetely better bass defition and extention, 803 presents music without sacrificing the sufficent bass details. In mids and highs though, I found the critical information and presentaion was missing wrt bigger models. But for the price you pay you get the right product. Alhtough they might be thought for all kinds of music, IMHO they are well suited for jazz music. One important point is the right speaker positioning and vibration due to speaker movement. I listened them for more than one year on a carpet floor with metal spikes and I was not happy with especially bass lines. Then I put granite blocks under the speakers and changed metal spikes to Black Diamond Racing Cones (a carbon fiber cone to minimize distortion) MK4 version and my listening experience has completely changed! What a bass, how sweet mids! I heard the frequencies never felt before. To me, major reason behind many complaints about weak bass, roll off highs etc is weak positioning and distortion of these beautiful speakers. I have never experienced such a tight and strong bass from such a small floorstander speaker, they are only 30 kgs each. Strength:

Overall sound, quality

Weakness:

None

These are very revealing speakers! Bass is very tight and reasonably deep (there's no need for an additional subwoofer), mids are outstanding (vocals are world class), highs are sweet and natural. You can enjoy listening to these babies without any fatigue. My system consists of: Rotel RCD-1070 (CD-Player), Vincent SV-238 (integrated amp), Mogami Blue Diamond NF-Cables, Some weird computer-data-link-cable for the speakers (can't be beaten; a real bargain even if they look terrible!). I won't give five stars for value because I don't think that you can call any HiFi-equipment in this price range ($5200 are an awful lot of hard earned money!) a "bargain".

Strength:

Lovely midrange, treble and a powerful bass.Soundstage and imaging are fist rate.Beautiful looks and exquisite cabinetry.Well recorded female vocals are captivating.

Weakness:

Bit pricey, but heck this is how i enjoy my leisure time. Thats all.

I tried the N804's on a home dem firstly, and they seemed very bright after my CDM7nt's,but also very revealing, with great midrange and a tight, punchy bass, with extreme low frequencies not as good as CDM7nt's. Next at home, were the N803's again well run in by the dealers, the bass was far superior, lower and more dynamic, midrange and treble appeared more laid back than 804's,making the 804's seem very "hifi" by comparison. These 803's are very dynamic, and I keep nudging up the volume control! the midrange is wonderfully lucid, and treble very sweet and non fatiguing (804's could be harsh on some poorer quality recordings). I think the 804's would work well in smaller rooms, but if you have the extra cash, and the space, the 803's are just the ticket. So impressed was I,that I shall be placing an order for a pair of 803's.

Mid and High Range, A really great classy looking speaker!

Weakness:

A little pricy but well worth it!

These speakers continue to get better and better the longer I listen to them. I did not believe in the break in period idea but with these I have really noticed them changing as I have used them more. A excellent speaker with a mid and high that are to die for. Not to diss on the bass, because it is ample but the mid is incredible, something that many other speakers are missing. Especially the Definitive Technology.

Strength:

Clarity, smooth sound. Very accurate reproduction. Speakers can "dissapear".

Weakness:

Revealing - poor recordings are instantly exposed. The low end is not in your face - but I'm still many hundreds of hours away from completely breaking them in.

In my months of research, saving, and demos I could not find an equal to this speaker, period. Although I admit I am not a audiophile (I complained about spending $200 on cables after forking up 4 grand on a pair of speakers) I have been a lifelong music lover and musician and have run a number of studio sessions, working with high end JBL type reference speakers. I have heard and been through Infinity, AR, Bose (601's), Revel, Klipsh, Polk etc. Now for the audiophiles out there, this list may be a little light and consumerish, but that is where I come from. When I decided to purchase my main speakers to start my new system, I decided early on B&W. Partly on reputation, partly on sound, and partly on their technology. I was planning on purchasing the CDM series (7NT or NT). Then I though "maybe a pair of demo 804s" if I was going to fork up a significant amount of cash anyhow. But after painstaking research I decided I needed a Class A speaker and decided on the 803s. Went in for a demo - one demo only. I compared the 803's with the CDM9NTs, thinking I would fork up the extra cash unless I really heard a difference. This is the untrained audiophile ear. My rush to the CDs started at first with a cd I had burned with high quality MP3 sources - just for a quick demo disk with my favorites. Bad idea. These speakers really let you know the quality of the recordings, and only about 1 of every 5 songs on this disc sounded good (great, actually) and the others sounded like mush. These speakers are fantastic at pointing out flaws in recordins, so I decided to move to real CDs and plopped in Pink Floyd's The Wall. "Hey You" was masterful - very clean, smooth - every detail present. I had burned out on this album years ago, but suddenly it was brand new. I hate to say it, but it sounded beautiful. Then all the CD's came out. Crystal Method's "Trip Like I Do" was an experience, not just a song. The detail in the Maverick's acoustic guitars was amazing. The speakers dissapeared. Orchestral works were alive - as if they were in the room with us. Thanks to B&W I can look forward to many thousands of dollars more in spending on my new home stero/theater. Do not listen to these speakers if you want to save money for something practical, like a car, mortgage payment etc. There is no going back.

Strength:

Excellent mid and tweeter.

Weakness:

Pretty big as apposed to 804's. Other than this nothing. A little big pricy.

These are some great sounding speakers. In fact if you have the money buy the 803's instead of the 804's because they are much better in the bass end. In fact with these you really do not need a sub. Of course as always the mid range and the tweeter on these speakers are excellent and so much above the norm. They really bring out the best of music and you hear things so much clearer and you even notice the mistakes that you did not hear before.
