Strength:
Imaging, deep clean bass, wood cabinet accents
Weakness:
can be a bit "bright" on some material First of all, if anyone hears "little" sound out of these speakers, check your phasing-ie. wire polarity. These were purchased back in the mid-80's, and sound just as good as new yet. Bass is deep and tight, imaging very good, the only fault is a tend toward brightness on some recordings. I also appreciate the use of real wood accents on the cabinet-something that's hard to find today, adds a touch of class I think. Sure, there are better speakers out there, but at a high price tag, for little overall improvement. These old Advents are a classic example of a good accoustic-suspension design done well. Though they will never replace my Altec605 duplexe's for the sheer thrill of "being there", I highly reccomend anyone picking up a pair if you can find them. They stopped making them. Was'nt it great when speakers where made like this. I'm really sick of the new plastic speaker trend that infinity, polk and everyone else has slipped into.
