    Strength:

Crisp and clear high, instrument are placeble. They are nice to look at (the IMF's aren't!)

    Weakness:

    Boomy bass

I own these speakers for about 6 years now and found them alright for the money I payed. They were better then the amplifiers I owned. Only after the last upgrade (second Rotel RB-971 mkII and better diodes in both amplifiers) they didn't really satisfy me anymore. High tones still sounded crisp and clear, basses however boomed ever more and became tiresome. I finally found IMF TLS80 to replace the AR's (por dios wat een speakers!!) and use them as rear channels. The combination (IMF's front and AR's rear) is great!

    Strength:

    Clear highs, good mids.

    Weakness:

A little boomy bass (no problem to me, because i have an excellent subwoofer)

Sounds pretty good in both music and home theater. My system: Onkyo txds-747 (receiver) Pioneer dv-343 (dvd player) AR 328 ps (fronts) AR 205ps (rear) AR 225ps (center) Rel Q100E (subwoofer)

    Strength:

Excellend Bass, with a deep, rich soud that fills the room.

    Weakness:

    Mid's slightly lacking.

I was trying to decide between Infinity Overture 3 speakers, JBL Studio 312's and these ( ok, not a fair comparison the Infinity speakers are 5 times the price with a built in powered woofer but one must be willing to sacrifice for quality ) and while the mid's and high's on these fall short, not by much at all. I compared them to the Yamaha's and these blew them away, better than the JBL Studio series too by a measure! For the money these are fantastic and I wanted a seperate subwoofer anyway, but I found that it was not even necessary most of the time. I find they do Acid Jazz and Classical just as well as the heavier stuff. The 328's are a very versatile speaker, while the Infinity's did Jazz exceptionally but did NOT like rock n' roll! ( and needed a seperate sub anyway )

Excellent value for the money, beautiful speaker sans grill, and powered by my Onkyo w/ Sherwood CD player these are truly fantastic. Worth three times the money.

I'm a po' college student and I think for an enthusiast looking for something sans built in woofer these make a great choice ( get the Velodyne! ). The audiophile may find them slightly lacking, but hardly dissapointing. I find the limits of my Onkyo and room acoustics before I find a shortcoming in these speakers.

    Strength:

Good (not overpowering) bass, very clear mids and highs. Great price, best value out there.

    Weakness:

Packaging... would not stand on their own when delivered.

I looked for speakers for ~ 8 months before buying these. Much of my basis for looking at them came from the AudioReview reviews of them. Unbelievable. I listened to them at a Sears, which I'm sure annoyed people all over the store (it got a little loud). I have them powered by an old Onkyo TX-80 for now, 33W/channel, and they get LOUD when I need them to. I can't wait to get some real power running through them. Of course the bass doesn't hit 30Hz, can't ask that from an 8" woofer, even if there's two per speaker. Everything above that sounds wonderful, whether it's classical, electronic, or alternative.

I Originally tried to buy them from JandR.com but they were discontinued. Found them for $30 less from accessories4less.com, with some very minor cosmetic imperfections (dinged corners). From the way they were packaged, I wonder if anyone has a pair that doesn't have at least some minor damage. That's my only complaint.

Besides that, there's no speaker out there that can come close for $350/pr, and it'd be hard to find good competition for the $700/pr list. These speakers have been discontinued, so they may be hard to find, but if you do, grab them. You won't be sorry.

    Strength:

Very punchy deep bass for 8" drivers, goes good in a home theater

    Weakness:

The mid range could be stronger

These are really great speakers for the money considering I paid $205 out the door for the pair at Sears. The 8" drivers really handle the bass well and with my Onkyo 105 watt amp they really get loud. They really work well with a seperate powered sub!! Ratings for value are off the charts!!!!

    Strength:

graet bass, hights and mids. looks good

    Weakness:

    none iv'e seen

I bought those speaker because I saw they were in a sale.
To my suprise, I found that they are GRAET and the sound really really good!.

They are load, and I don't have any problem with load volumes, which I hear most of the time.

They are very accuracte and the sound is very clean.

I Think they are the best choise less then a 1000$.

    Strength:

Great Bass, looks great by my Hitachi 61 inch, very clear sound.

    Weakness:

    none

I bought these speakers about 3 days ago and they are great I just love them. If you like bass and loudness these speakers are for you. These speakers produce great bass. I was watching Independence Day on DVD, and it shook the room even the couch I was sitting on. It was like a earthquake.

    Strength:

    Can be driven LOUD

    Weakness:

Home theater setting where you need much boomy bass.

I must say. My ears got jaded very quick. It was awesome to my ears used to nasty Aiwa shelf system. I was gonna call it quits but my gut feeling told me to pay a visit to L.A. Audio (very knowledgeble, great help. I went there to audition paradigm monitors. OMFG what a difference!

Needless to say. I brought home both monitors. Mini to replace sh*tty stock ones from Aiwa and Monitor 7 for my main living room system.

AR was promptly returned to Sears... thank goodness...

AR 328ps is good for home theater i guess.... but the sound is boxy. I dunno how else to describe it. It lacks detail. It lacks soundstage. It fooking lacks just about everything compared to minitor 7...or even mini monitor but hey it was only 240/pair. You DO get what you pay for.

Once your ears get jaded and they do get jaded faster than your income, there is no going back.

Go try Mini Monitors if your budget don't allow anything higher than.. say $300. You won't be sorry. It's more like night and day.

    Strength:

blends perfect with any speakers, voice clarity like no other, I like the look of the speaker myself.

    Weakness:

slightly low bass response, can be taken care of easily with a subwoofer.

Anyone who still has questions about this set of speakers can quit worrying right now, I believe these speakers are by far and above the best speakers in their price class. I did alot of research before I bought these, and I can't be happier than I am now. The bass response is not quite as definitive as one would think, but with a subwoofer these cats will rock and roll. I hav a Onkyo DD receiver and a Infinity BU-120 subwoofer, and when I kick in a dvd or favorite cd, it is like heaven. I give them a 4 and a half, slight bass response and I believe there is no perfect speaker either. These are close though.

    Strength:

great tight bass, horn tweeters, cherry finish, great looks in general

    Weakness:

    box packaging (this is packaging?)

These are clearly the best speakers that can be had for less than $325 delivered. These rock so hard that I can't even fully test them in my apartment for fear of eviction. Everything that I have thrown at it from Bach to Metallica and inbetween is crystal clear. The bass output is boomy if placed near the wall, but more importantly is realistic! No bass boost Aiwa shelf system here. I can't say enough about the horns in these speakers. I never knew music could sound this crisp, clear and beautiful. My only complaints are with the ridiculous packaging. AR should be ashamed! The pitifully small amounts of styrofoam that "protect" the corners were in pieces when I received them. Be prepared to send them back due to muffed corners. Once straightened out, sit back and enjoy. I have these as my fronts, cs225 in center, and ps318 in rear (complete overkill having 4 towers in my system but it rocks!) There is no better way to go! Hooked them up to a denon avr2800 and let the 5 channel stereo fly! Man these are unreal, I almost cried when I first let them loose. Nothing can even touch them for less than 600, and for $600 you can have both the 328's and 318's delivered to your house! (www.netmarket.com) Outstanding!
