Strength:

crisp clean sound, excellent center channel speaker for the price and size

Weakness:

none thus far

I hooked this speaker to my onkyo dd838 reciever, with the dt10b's at front. I had to do some adjusting through my 838.the sound and clarity from the 245 was impressive. It handles the 5.1 dd very well.dvd movies and sound tracks are smooth and as accurate as you can get with a center stage speaker at the $200 price range.I shopped and listened to other brands costing $150 or more, but the polk 245cs was my choice for quality, sound and price.believe it or not folks! i'm using 11 year old bose 301's for surrounds! works very well!:)

Strength:

Clean clear sound - mate well with Polk RT series speakers.
Great value.

Weakness:

No audible weaknesses, wish the physical unit had a little more style.

This center speaker is a great value. I had been using a Bose VCS 10 center speaker before this one. The difference was startling to say the least. I didn't realize how much I had been missing. Cannot be beat in this price range.
Very clean and open sounding - quite detailed. This is used along with the RT 25 for front channels and RT 15 for rear. The Polk RT series offers great value also.

Weakness:

Blew up

Maybe I got a lemon, but my CS245 sounded somewhat harsh and distorted. When I turned my Onkyo 575 to 72 (out of 88), which is loud, but nothing my other speakers couldn't handle, I blew one of the 5 inch drivers. Took it back and exchanged it for a CS400. There's no comparison. The 400 has a much larger more pleasing sound. If you're not too serious about sound quality and don't need extreme volume, it's okay. But if you want good sound and intend to use it for music, I'd look elsewhere.

I bought this speaker from Crutchfield for $200 to go with Polk S6s in the front and RT25s in the rear. I really like the speaker, and for the price you can't go wrong. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a center channel speaker to compliment their other Polk speakers.

Strength:

Solid midrange. Good highs. Fit in my cabinet. Solid construction. Binding posts.

Weakness:

Highs not as detailed as the Boston's

Bought this after returning the Boston CRC which interfered with my TV (poorly shielded tweeter)and only had one bass driver along with a passive radiator. The CS245i is an admirable performer considering it's price and is a surprisingly good match for the Boston CR8 fronts. I did have to use the Yamaha's center EQ a little bit to achieve this.

For movies, voices are clear and natural which is just about all you could ask for. Sounds good at high volume with little or no distortion. I really can't think of any major drawbacks except that it doesn't have the same drivers as my mains. I highly recommend this speaker for any HT enthusiast on a budget.

System:
Yamaha RX V1000
Yamaha 5 disc CD
Mains: Boston Acoustics CR 8
Center: Polk CS245i
Surrounds: Optimus X44 AV (great little speakers)

This center speaker replaced my old Atlantic technology speaker. I was going to buy the CS400I but the price difference between the CS245I and CS400I prompted me to settle with the CS245I.

I was not disappointed with the sound this little speaker produced. The dialogue are now clear... I don't have to rewind anymore just to listen again to what was said in the movie and it matches really well with my RT55s..
