I have owned this JBL center channel speaker for almost a month now and am very pleased with it's performance and looks. The horn tweeter reproduces dialouge and highs accuratly while the dual 5 1/4" speakers do a great job with mid and low range production. The cabinet works well for my application even though it is larger than most center channel speakers. I also really like the adjustable rear support which allows you to direct the horn tweeter down toward the listener if the speaker sits above ear level which is the case in my situation.

I was very pleased with the tonal quality. Voices were very rich and good sounding from this speaker. The frequency can also handle much more base across the centre channel...unlike most lower priced centre channels.
Now the bad: What was very annoying to me was that the speaker had poor magnetic shielding and distorted the colours at the top of my 36" Toshiba television. I had to place the centre channel on top of a main speaker in order to finish watching a movie!

I would've given this product 4 stars but because of the distortion I can only give it a 2. Either my Toshiba is too sensitive or JBL screwed up somewhere.

Possibly the BEST Center channel you can buy. And im not exaggerating either. Its a MUST HAVE if you have the matching SVA mains. typical JBL product!!

Ever since I saw this baby at work, I knew I had to have it. Unfortunately for JBL, these things haven't been selling too well. For most people they're just too damn big and expensive. Personally, the size doesn't bother me. What did was the $300 price tag. I got mine for $150 on a closeout, and can say it's worth every penny and more. I used to have a POS Jensen center channel that I got for free. Never knew what a difference a good center speaker could make. It's awesome with music and dvds. Check this sucker out at you're local BB, they might have some left in the low 200's. Definately a winner if you can live with the size.

Picked it up for $67 from Ubid, brand new. It is the best center speaker I've ever owned, working well with my two SVA 1500 speakers, which I got brand new for $114/pair from Ubid too. I have a rather small apartment, and the sound coming out from these babies just fills up the entire space with unbeatable quality and clarity. For the price and the quality, 5-star is the must!

A great center speaker with a powerful sound. In my opinion this speaker is perfect as a center speaker in serious home theater installations. However I currently use my two SVA center speakers as surround speakers and I very satisfied with the performance. The "old" surround speakers, a pair of SVA 1600, have become center speakers instead. This has became a perfect configuration in my home theater together with a pair of SVA 2100 that I use as front speakers.

The SVA center has only one drawback and that is the poor magnetic shielding. I my case this is not an issue at all since a use a projector in my home theater. For me this is a very nice speaker which I highly recommend!

Kick Butt

Here's the deal. The JBL 1500 is the same speaker as the SVA Center. Anyway, I put my 1500's on top my 50" Ultravision and they totally kick butt. The bass does NOT distort and the highs and mids are SCREAMING. The Matrix just comes to life. If you can find a pair of SVA1500's then get them. I have the pair side by side and they even look great. I took the feet off the bottom and put the bottoms together. I have the 1800's for my mains. I am going to get another pair of 1500's to put back in my rear.

Wow! Ive finally Finished my home theater with an awesome Center Channel speaker from JBL. I found this speaker at Best Buy for $225.00. I love the sheer size and it fits well with my Mitsubishi 55" bigscreen. Another thing I love is the huge port in the back. It rivals the port in my Hsu Research TN1225HO subwoofer but the port in the subwoofer is still bigger. I have the speaker in the middle of 2 JBL TLX181's and 2 77 Minimus surrounds. I used 10 gauge Monster Cable for the center and front speakers and 12 gauge wire for the surrounds. You dont need SVC mains only. It blends well with other large JBL speakers. The SVC center makes a huge difference in sound over the JBL MR center I had before. Good center channels make a HUGE difference. I cued up "Terminater 2 Judgement day" (my favorite DVD for sound) and my whole system was very powerful at moderate listening levels. I never heard such great 3 dimensional sound like it before. I even cued up "Full Metal Jacket". This DVD was made with Dolby Digital Mono(the sound only comes from the center channel) and the center channel brought a life of its own to this 1 channel soundtrack. The JBL SVC center channel was indeed the difference in completing that beautiful sound in my home theater. I highly recommend it!!!

Video Shielding

This is a pretty good center channel, especially for the price you can get it for now. My only complaint on it is the video shielding isnt the best, I had to raise it a bit off my tv because it was distorting it some. Other than that it i have no complaints. Good low frequencies for 2 5 1/4 speakers and the imagins is GREAT on it.
