Strength:

Cheap; good looks!

Weakness:

Sounds dull and uninvolving!

Uninvolving sound. I put in a better condenser (MKP) and some damping material (there was none!) and it got a little better, but it is worth to spend a little more money and look for a better centre speaker!

Strength:

Cheap. Produces a decent range. Can handle a reasonable amount of power (hey, it clips anyway). Looks nice, especially the beech version. Probably sounds fine and beefy if the rest of the system consists of $10 computer speakers.

Weakness:

Sound, and probably quality control as well. Completely negates the point and purpose of a center speaker, ruining any soundstage with a chunk of muddle and distortion right beneath the screen.

Oh my, what a horrible speaker. Now, the Eltax Millennium Mini are great little bargain-basement surrounds that do the job, while the Millennium Fronts are big boomy blurs, so I knew this "entry level" series from a "value" speaker manufacturer was a mixed bag to say the least, but it still seemed like a good option to fill out my second / older home entertainment system with a full 5.1 setup. What a mistake. Testing it as a left/right speaker with music, the speaker sounded... functional, that is, if you got past the nasty, harsh treble and complete lack of character. It also did a reasonable job as center speaker in a ProLogic setup (again, for music only). But as a "dialogue" center speaker in a 5.1 system, it''s an unmitigated disaster. The first one I got went back the same day, because it crackled and clipped at any pink noise test sounds. The second one didn''t have that problem at first, then developed it as well after a day or two, then settled back into "normal" operation. But it''s STILL a complete failure at producing the lower ranges of human speech. It clips audibly at certain frequencies (or certain actors'' voices!), has some undefinable problem with crossover and - saddest of all - disconnecting it made the system sound much clearer, opener, solid and free of any ear-grating side effects. Did Eltax even listen to this thing, or was it designed as a piece of furniture?

Any center speaker with a $199+ price tag should sound, well, acceptable. Eltax makes a number of extremely affordable and nice sounding center speakers (the Linear Response, Liberty and Cinemaxx seri
