Strength:

8" Subwoofer

Weakness:

Heavy!

This speaker is amazing! No ordinary center channel speaker will come close to the sound the CLR2300 produces. The 8" sub provides excellent low end sound from the front of my home theater. I had no idea how much sound I was missing from the center channel. I listen to a couple other Def Tech center channel speakers before I bought this one. There is no comparison between center channels with and without a subwoofer. Try it out, I know you'll love it.

This speaker my pose a problem to some people. It is large and weighs about 35 pounds. In most cases, it won't fit on top of a normal size TV. I suggest making some kind of a shelf for it.

The first CLR2300 I bought was defective. The sub didn't work. The store I bought it from replaced it, no questions asked. That is the first time they had seen that kind of problem. My view of Def Tech was not tarnished by this incident. It is an awesome speaker!

Strength:

Perfectly matches my lovable BP2006TLs-they all sound great together

Weakness:

Installing feet & logo---sheesh!

I had trepidations about spending money on a speaker costing almost 3 times as much as the Polk center channel speaker that I already owned . Now I'm proud of money well spent. This speaker sounds great. But this owner installation of the feet and logo are a bit much--there's nothing like swinging a hammer at a piece of audio electronic eqipment that you just paid $600 for!! I know it's all due to the different possible orientations of this speaker- and this is a minor point- but my speaker remains logo-less.

Strength:

Strong sounds, classy design, easy setup

Weakness:

N/A

Voice-matched to the 2004s that went with this speaker, I have been pleased with the performance thus far. My number one problem with the low-end JBLs that I used was that the center channel was always so underwhelming. This has not been a problem with the C/L/R 2300.

The powered subwoofer is a nice touch, though I believe the real key to great sound is high quality construction and materials.

This is my favorite speaker to date, therefore, I suggest you look into owning one yourself!

Strength:

Amazing! CRYSTAL clear sound, yet packs a serious punch! Must be heard to believe!

Weakness:

Absoultely none!

Okay, the thing is, a powered center speaker, with a built in sub, simply must be heard to be believed. It adds an entirely new dimension to your surround system. I was a bit skeptical at first, like, is it necessary for a powered sub in a center speaker? Let me just say, it will absolutely blow you away! The argument against a powered center is, there simply isn't enough lfe recorded for a center channel, so it's not necesssary.... wrong, so wrong! Okay, I admit it, I'm a Definitive fanatic, you either love the Definitive's or you don't care for them. But honestly, if you give this center speaker a listen, YOU WILL CONVERT! What really stuns me about this speaker is how low it goes, and how much it adds to your system, but yet sacrifices NOTHING in in imaging and clarity. To me, I've found if you want bass, you must sacrifice the clarity, and vice versa. This center speaker sacrifices NOTHING!

Please, please, just give it an audition. I'm not going to say buy it, because I still believe that something must be heard first before taking the plunge, but I am as certain as I've ever been about anything, once you hear this speaker, you won't be able to crank up your system again until you have one for your own!

Folks, it's that good. It does not get any better.....like I said just simply audition it, I won't go into the details because it's just wasted space....I will just say go listen, period!

My system for the record:
Definitive BP10B's - fronts
Definitive C/L/R 2300 - center
Definitive BP2X- surrounds
2 PF15TL+ subs - the house rattling part of the system!
