Strength:

B&W Quality workmanship, not harsh, easy listenable sound

Weakness:

Must be bi-wired or bi-amped in order to get great sound.

Not thrilled with the speaker at first. Sound was muffled, and had to be turned up significantly to get reasonable ballance. After a few hours of use, and bi-amping, it sounds wonderful. Make sure you at least bi-wire this speaker and run it in before you judge it!

Strength:

Wonderful for a small room.

Weakness:

haven't found any yet

I got my tax refund and immediately knew I wanted to spend a nice chunk of it on a nice center channel speaker.

I'm running it through a Sony STR DE-845 receiver (monster cables of course). I didn't notice much of a defined sound when I first installed it, but over the course of three months the signals coming through the speaker grew more and more. I'm just now understanding that speakers need a "breaking in" period.

The sound of the CC6 S2 wonderful! I have terrible Fisher left and right speakers, but I didn't know it until I installed the CC6 S2 and realized how nice "good" speakers sound. It's a wonderfully warm speaker, especially when watching a DVD with Dolby Digital encoding. The sound envelopes the room and is very rich.

I'm a budding audiophile and so this speaker is great for beginners. I can't find a single damn thing wrong with this center channel speaker.

I'm now just waiting for when I can afford a nice pair of B&W left and right speakers.

Strength:

Performs beyond his looks, warm and detailed sound, sturdy finish, without the grill it looks splendid.

Weakness:

If you don't like the B&W sound,...plastic terminals instead of gold plated ones,

The thing i love about B&W is that they give a very special perfume to their products, when it is new it smells so great. It is a small center with a heavy construction, the cabinet is acoustically dead and very hard. Right out of the box i wondered what the hell did i buy here. It really does not sound good at all, but if you give it plenty of time....mine has been running in now for more than a year and it is just now that i realize how good it does sound. It gives me the impression of a large center in a small cabinet. Feed it enough power and it will be worth the money, but it needs power. The treble is soft and clear, it is important though to have an amplifier that gives enough warmth to take the hissh away. Neither should you be afraid of going loud, it can go loud, very loud. I don't understand why everybody prefers his bigger brother. If you make sure it is placed solid and in the right position, you ain't got nothing to complain about. I often use it for just mono music, makes a great soundstage. For this kinda money you get a lot of quality.

I use this center with a pair of 602s2's up front and 601s1's in the rear. Powering it is a Yamaha 2095. Sounds great in DD and DTS. Highly recommend this speaker.

Strength:

looks nice. sounds warm and can be balanced well with 601's or 3 series speakers.

Weakness:

muffled sometimes, shrill and tinny on high pitched speech. seems to lack presence so far.

im fairly new to home cinema and i got this along with 2 601's for the front and 2, 3 series speakers for the rears. i also bought a sony STR-DB1070 amp which matches them well. i have to say im pretty dissapointed so far. the 601's are great but the CC6 is really hollow. but ive only used it maybe 15-20 hours. i havent noticed any change yet but im living in hope. i phoned B&W and they said they would give their speakers 100 hours to fully run in and loosen up. but the problem is, i dont know in what way they will improve. i want them to sound FULLER, with more presense in the room without the muffledness.

dont get me wrong, its still a warm and nice sounding speaker. its just dialouge does seem slightly underpowered. however, upgrading to the lcr 6 is pointless unless you have at least 602's. even then they may be over powered.

my room is only 4x4 metre as well, so i really should persevere and see how it turns out. for its price its the best i have heard. it mimicks the LCR6 but with less power and flexability of sound. for £200 though its a fair deal.

my advice to anyone considering it is to go and listen to a fully run in one. im sure it sounds a lot better and would save you a lot of money by not buying a more powerful one. becasue im sure it has a great potential fully run in sound. if you own speakers less powerful than 603's then its IDEAL.

i've been using 601's as my front speakers for a few years and have been thrilled with the sound. my centre and surrounds were cheap technics. since dialogue comes through the centre channel, i wanted to upgrade. i saved up with the intention of buying a b&w centre, but when i checking them out, the dealer told me that i would be better served to get another 601 so that the sound will be even when something moves accross the screen. he told me it would be a better sound match. i asked why b&w made centre speakers if that was the case. he said it was due to the fact that many retailers won't split up a pair of speakers like he does.
anyway, i'm using another 601 as my centre and I've been very happy with it. the only draw back is that it's not shielded, so I have to keep it about a foot above my tv.

Strength:

looks great, can be used as a "large center", typical bw
build quality

Weakness:

a bit pricy

Finally broke down and got this center to match my 602's
Was a bit worried because of the "nasal" comments on this site, and the one I looked at in the store was a bit
nasal. But I thought that might be because it was in a
cabinet on a tv. And what a relief, I was right, when I got
it home no nasal. Sounded great but when it broke in WOW
really nice. I listened to a diana krall dts of her first
album and it sounded like she was in the room. Set it to large, set its level properly, and enjoy

Strength:

Small size, looks.

Weakness:

A truly dreadful product. Absolutely useless for dialogue which is a problem for a center speaker. Poor sensitivity.

I bought this speaker 2 years ago and persevered with it. This speaker must truly rank as one of the biggest lemons B & W have produced. My Hitachi TV produces a better dialogue reproduction. Initially I used it with the built in amplification of a Yamaha E 800 processor. I tried biwiring it as advised by other reviewers. Even my father in law couldn't hear the dialogue and just preferred using the TV and wondered what the fuss was with multichannel. Eventually I even tried biamping the speaker with a pretty good amplifier (a Naim Nap 90). It still sounded desperately poor so heaven forbid anyone using it with a cheapo Japanese surround receiver. The dialogue is extremely poor and is not very sensitive needing to be louder by more than 5 decibels than the other speakers. My system is based around a Naim Nac 102, Nap 250, Hi cap, 2 nap 90s for center and rear with a Yamaha E 800 processor. I feel justified now to give a review after using it for 2 years with no improvement in sound quality. I bought it because of its small size to fit in with the aesthetics of my living room. I have sold it for a quarter of its value for a B & W LCR 60 S3 which is a fantastic speaker. It is no wonder that B & W CC6 S2 is now retailing for only £99 as it is truly a dreadful product. E-mail me if you have similar experiences.

Strength:

solid build,crisp high end

Weakness:

sometimes it sounds nasalized with poor audio sources

I have been using my CC6 for about 6 weeks now, estimating around 125 hours of break in. I've been waiting to give my review because of the long break in period that I was told about at Digital Sound and from other consumers.

I have noticed a more open sound over the past few weaks.I have mine placed ontop of my 27 in. Proscan TV. Both sit inside of an open faced component cabinet,so I was worried about resonance from the area behind and to the sides of the speaker. I have not noticed any unwanted response and have added two types of sound absorbing materials to the area behind and to the sides just to be sure.

So far I have been pleased with its performance but did not actually compare it's sound next to any other center speakers because I already owned a pair of DM 303's that I was using for my mains and planned on buying a pair of 602s2's and moving the 303's to the rear. After discovering the 303's, I was hooked on the B&W sound and planned to upgrade to all B&W speakers as my budget allowed. Without a doubt the LCR6 is better, but also bigger and more expensive and would not even fit into my cabinet.

As I have read on this review page, some people are complaining about the CC6 doing a poor job on dialogue, but if the channel levels are adjusted properly (75 dB or more) I guarantee that you will have no problem hearing every word, as long as your driving it with a competent amp. I'm using a Denon AVR-2802 receiver and even still I've been able to achieve "movie theater" levels with articulate dialogue. I have bi wired my CC6, but have not compared this to single cable connection assuming it's well worth the extra $15 for cable.

In conclusion, I have no bad things to say about its overall sound, given a clean signal the CC6 sounds just fine.

following on from my previous post:

ive persevered but its been unsuccessful. dispite only having 601's and 303's its really dissapointing and shallow. it matches them but considering most of the sound comes out of the centre channel its a bit of a problem. it barely improves over the sound my tv makes on its own.

unfortunatly i probably wont be able to exchange it as its so late. it makes me want to give up but ill try to exchange for the LCR6. even though its matched with the 602's a lot better, it will still be fine with mine i hope.
