Strength:

Very good sound, attractive and impressive looks, Quality components

Weakness:

hmm...well it is large....and heavy....but then is that a weakness?

I bought this as a demo unit to replace my aging little PSB 100C center channel speaker. I loved the PSB but it was a little small and weak for my newer system. The VP-150 is a serious looking piece. There is now a VP-150SE(second edition?) which has a different arrangement of drivers....Tweeters on the outside and woofers all together in the center. I assume this gives better dispersion. The most important thing for a Center channel to do is carry vocals well. The VP150 does this very well. You can notice this esp. on female musical vocals at high volumes....very clear and sharp. The Titanium tweeters sound very neutral and natural. Axiom must have done some work to tame these tweeters since Titanium tweeters can be bright or harsh. This great speaker will extend down to 50Hz and can handle plenty of power. It's published to have 4 Ohms but mine actually says 6 Ohms. I asked about this on the Axiom owners forum (www.axiomaudio.com) and got a reply from Ian Colquhoun, the founder, president and chief engineer....he indicated it is actually around 5.5 Ohms.

This Center does a great job with both music and Hometheater and looks impressive doing it. The build quality is high, the price is right, the sound is superb and the warranty is long. Give them a try.

Just recieved my vp150 to finish off my all Axiom system.Once again I was impressed right out of the box with the quality construction of this speaker. After hooking it up I noticed quite a difference from other centers I have used. This one having way more detail.I can`t say enough about Axiom. They are in my mind great speakers. Thanks Marc over at the Audio shop for his honest recomendations and service and thanks to Axiom for making such great speakers that even I can afford. I am using Axioms m60ti for mains,Axioms m3ti for surrounds,Axioms vp150 center and their ep350 sub for some serious bass.Don`t think I could of done any better without putting a serious dent in my wallet.

Strength:

Build Quality, Sound, Sleek Design

Weakness:

None

I recently purchased my Axiom speakers from Marc Hallam of Audio Shop in Ontario, Canada: Excellent customer service, quick 2 day delivery to Southern California, and an outstanding value. The system consists of a pair of M60Ti's (front), a VP150 (center channel) and a pair of M22Ti's (rear surrounds). I am very impressed with the built quality, sleek and classy black look. The gold plated binding posts are topnotch with the M60Ti speakers having the bi-wireable ones. These speakers sounded phenomenon from the start, however, it will even sound better after a little burn-in time.

I played my 5.1 music sampler audio DVD and I was blown away by the deep, rich and transparent sound stage. From the percussion, piano, cello to the guitar, I listened and heard every single note with distinct clarity and realism. The midrange that I listened to filled a big void that my previously outstanding satellite system could not achieve. Now I listen to musical notes at their fullest range that I've never heard at home before, as though it was live.

I then tested these new HT speakers with Matrix, Fifth Element, Dinosaurs, U571...again, the rich realism effects/sounds were enveloping. The front and rear speakers deliver all the highs, lows, minute effects and loudest explosions while the center channel, VP150, projects accurate, true to life human voices. The VP150 is huge, with 5 drivers; 3 midranges and 2 tweeters. This is the best center channel out there at any price but it was only about $350, now that's a steal. It was awesome. I have to watch all my DVDs over again. These speakers have plenty of juice to shake up my entertainment room, 22'W x 22'D x 20'H vaulted ceiling.

In all, I love these speakers for their well built quality, uncompromising sound, simple and elegant design and outstanding value. I've auditioned PSB, Paradigm, B&W and Energy speakers. Axiom speakers' sound quality is as outstanding, if not better, for much less money. It's unfortunate that Axiom is not well known in the U.S. I highly recommend Axiom speakers

Strength:

design of cabinet, build quality,$$$$,very powerful,Clarity,Anti-standing wave technology, vortex port, dispertion and did I say powerful and price

Weakness:

maybe the grill but I am not nitpicky and you can't be at this price

I really like the way all of Axioms Millenia Line speakers sound and I believe if they made Receivers they wouldn't spend the money on DSP Modes,Advertising and also royalties like THX Certification and they would put the money where it counts and rely on word of mouth advertising.I must say that the only centre channel that I found more appealing was the Boston Acoutics VR 14 and I could do without for the extra $400.
I run a H/K AVR 310 for HT and a Yamaha AX-596 for music and the VP150,M80 and M3Ti set-up works very well all together.I don't use a subwoofer and I am not a big fan of them and I couldn't see why anyone would need one with this type of set-up.I bought the H/K just because I only paid $650 for it brand new but I would have preffered the Yamaha RXV 800 but the cheapest I could find it for was $850 so I couldn't justify spending the extra money because to do this centre justice it needs a power amp and the extra money I saved will buy one.
I really enjoy this cente and I can't believe how cheap you can get them for considering I paid $350 for mine but I hooked a guy up with my buddy at Audiotronic and he paid $270 for one a couple of weeks ago and also $950 for his M80's which is the new design and actually I heard that a new VP 150 is coming out and I am anxcious to hear it.
I have since demoed many centre channels in the past couple of months and SO MANY of them sounded so thin and very tiny sounding also.
I know it is very important to have a good centre if you are going to be doing any serious HT because at least 65% of the sound comes from the centre and I would pay more attention to it rather than the mains because it makes a world of difference and can change a whole system the most for the least amount of money.Like I said before the only speaker that I liked more was the Boston VR 14 and I beleive it was because it's dispertion was better than the VP 150 but then again if Axiom put even another $100 into this speaker I imagine it could sound head over heals above the Boston.

I really like the the clarity, dispertion and the performance the VP 150 provides and actually for that matter all of Axioms speaker do an excellent job at that and every other aspect.I have never heard such controlled speakers for such a low price and they never get boomy like most other low price speakers and their asking price simply astounds me everytime I look at it and compare it to other companies.

Axiom is the only speaker company that I know of that doesn't have a mark up of 300-600% on their speakers. For example a Yamaha RXV 800 is built for around $200 including everything and then it sold to the dealers for around $675 and then the dealer sells it for around $1000 and the MSRP is $1200 so the mark up by the time it gets to the customer is a awful. Then you have recievers like Denons where they don't have a Canadian Distributor and it gets even worse and also I KNOW it is much worse when it comes to speakers and stuff like cables.
You figure the VP 150 might cost $150 to build including everything and then they sell it to the dealers for $230 and then the dealer sells it for around $350 which is decent and any honest company shouldn't charge more than that if they care about their customers and it has obviously been proven that you can build a company from quality products at a reasonable price and also at the same time make a good living.

I recommend MANY poeple to Axiom and lead them to my buddy at Audiotronics and also answer tons of questions and they are always amazed and I do it because I believe in their products and they provide great service and I would recommend any of Axioms speakers and it is quite obvious that Ian Colquin and his employees have spent many years putting time into his speakers quality and performance and has offered people that don't have a big bank to have Audiophile quality sound. Thanks Miller
