Strength:

Clarity, superb rendition of voices. Non-muddling of complex movie soundtracks capable of taxing most centers.

Weakness:

Fairly large. Logo is a sticky tack-on-I just removed it!

I bought this speaker along with a pair of CBM 170s to replace an all Klipsch front end. What struck me most about the speaker was the clarity of the speaker. Voices sounded natural without any 'honkiness'. Also it was much less forward and aggressive than the horn-loaded Klipsches. The speaker also exhibited weighty dynamics and has a sense of authority that belies its humble price-tag.

Strength:

Clarity, impact, soundstage.. Very natural sounding and the speaker simply disappears. You will not notice the speaker at all.

Weakness:

None.

Ascend's latest and greatest! This is a superb center channel speaker offering crystal clear dialogue combined with a wide soundstage. And might I say exceptional impact, IMPACT! Special effects are incredibly realistic and truly "hit" you so you can feel them. For music, this speaker (as expected with all Ascend products) is very neutral and a joy to listen too. Smooth and detailed, but not bright with a surprising bass response. All in all, this is another exceptional product from the folks at Ascend and for its price, easily the best center channel available anywere.

Strength:

Full sound. Surprisingly good bass. Movie dialog is clear.

Weakness:

Not the most attractive speaker. Having my wife's favorite movie queued up and ready to play helped overcome her initial reaction...

Everything I was hoping for in a center speaker. Voices, soundtrack, and effects are all well represented. It's very pleasing that an inexpensive speaker can work so well.

Strength:

High sensitivity (92 dB), robust bass response (down 3 dB @55 Hz), solidly built. Vocals in movie soundtracks are natural, but strong; music is accurately reproduced.

Weakness:

None whatsoever.

I bought this center channel to replace the HTM-200 I originally had. While the HTM-200 is a capable surround speaker ,it left a little to be desired as a center. Well, the CMT-340c is all that I could ask for. Ascend, in introducing their first "dedicated" center has built a center that is worthy to be combined with the fabulous CBM-170 mains. The CMT-340c is a M-T-M (mid-woofer-tweeter-mid-woofer)design, ported for higher efficiency.
