Strength:

Beautiful finish, clear loud highs, and most of all....PRICE!

Weakness:

Lackluster response starting in the lower midrange all the way to the bottom. Probably can be somewhat offset with the right subwoofer tweaking.

I just got this speaker in my H/T setup 2 weeks ago. The reason I tried it was do to some good reviews I had seen on other sites. I was looking for a decent center that would match well with my all Polk setup (4 Polk RT55i's & a small Polk sub). I know this sounds weird, but the Polks have a trilaminate dome tweeter that Polk no longer uses. The reason I decided to go with a horn was because that the Polks highs are very bright & loud (the way I like them), and I figured that the horn would blend well with them. I tried to find a decent used matching center, but to no avail. Anyway, this speaker is only used for watching movies, but I did check it out with some music. As far as the finish goes this is a beautiful speaker. With a glossy veneer top & bottom it looks alot more expensive than it is. It has 2 6.5" woofers with the horn in between. The enclosure is not ported, so the bass response is lacking. But if you have a sub in your setup, you shoud't have a problem there. The highs are just as bright as I had expected, and (after alot of tweaking) aren't too far off from the Polks. The movement across the soundstage is not as apparent as expected. It does a good job of reproducing both male & female voices in the higher midrange frequencies. But the lower the range, the speaker's shortfalls show themselves. There isn't much midbass either, and while listening to multichannel music this is a big problem for me. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure if you had the whole Acoustech package, you probably wouldn't notice this. However when compared to the other speakers in my setup, it just doesn't compare. I know that it's not even broken in yet, so I'll give it another few weeks before I decide if it stays in my setup. Bottom line...I'm sure that if you got the whole package from Acoustech you would probably be happy. Especially for the price.
