Strength:

Competing lines can't touch the value. Nice bass response for its size, excellent clarity, nice fit and finish, too!

Weakness:

None, at this price!!

I compared these speakers (~$280) with B&W 601 (~425), Pinnacle (imo a piece of junk if they were free) and NHT Superone (~$325) among others. No 2-way 6.5"-class bookshelf speaker can come close to the Mini Monitor IMO. The Mini is just as accurate as the B&W's while adding better bass extension. They are constructed more robustly (butyl rubber surrounds, poly cones, etc) than the NHT. Add one of Paradigm's PDR-12's and for around $650 you can beat systems that cost 2-3 times that. If you're on a budget (or not), these can't be beat! Get a nice heavy pair of stands. The Canadian speaker companies are very attractive--they can stay very competitive because of 1. the exchange rate, and 2. a lot of their R&D is financed by the Canadian government. In Paradigm's case, they can pass some of that benefit to the consumer.

no doubt about it these are incredible speakers for the price. but if you want to take them up another notch, buy some Vibrapods (rubber vibration absorbing feet) to put under them. a # 2 Vibrapod at each corner of the speaker does a lot to shore up the main weakness of this speaker - a somewhat loose and flabby midbass. they can be bought from www.audioadvisor.com & are definitely worth the extra $48. try it, you'll like it. overall I think these are 3 star speakers, but the vibrapods bump it up one more star. of course they are 5 stars for value.

I've just "returned" to the audio equipment market after having been well satisfied with a powerful older system having a pair of big, heavy, and oh so musical 3-ways which no longer fit in my new living room.
After much reading and listening, I selected the Paradigm Mini Monitors and a Velodyne CT-100 sub and could not be more pleased. This is a magnificent music system played either soft or loud. I do like bass, and that's why I got the subwoofer, but even without the sub the Mini's pump out an incredible amount of rich deep dynamic music in the low registers. In the mid to high registers the sound is smooth and sweet.

I would recommend these to anyone.

Excellent value in terms of price/performance. I wasn't a Paradigm fan until I heard these. The bass output for these little guys is tremendous. Bought them for $330 CAN. Goodsound.com compares them with the NHT Super-one. Both are excellent speakers but cater to different needs.

Strength:

Everything

Weakness:

They are a bit bigger than I expected

To start, I am a previuos paradigm owner. I already owned a pair of atoms and havel always been impressed with them.
In addition, I do not claim in the least bit to be an expert on audio equipment. I buy what sounds good to me and with what is in my budget.
I bought these speakers for my new home theatre set-up. I was looking for bookshelves to please my wife (she did not want floorstanding) but I was not impressed enough with the satelite systems in music to purchase on of those (although Energy's Take 5 and Encore were very close)
Orginally I was going to go with a pair of Titans and a C-170 but the salesman talked me into a 'trial' pair of mini-monitors with the matching center (C-370).
First CD I listened to was Alice in Chains Unplugged. When the crowd came in at the start of the CD I felt like I was in the audience. he music quality was in my mind bar none. I heard sounds on that CD I have never heard before.
I switched to something a little more lower end next Faith no More Angel Dust. These were only bookshelf speakers but I was impressed. I turned on my powered sub and who needs floor standing!
For Home theatre, with the matching center the sound was seamless and better than any theatre in the area.
I reccomend thses speakers for anyone looking for speakers in this price range but wants a lot more than what the price offers. You will be impressed.

Strength:

Clear and accurate!

Weakness:

If you are in to weird looking desings, LOOKS

These speakers for there size really can put out a big strong sound. They actually sound like floor standing speakers. You must have stands and not book shelfs. If you have them on book shelfs you will here a premature reverb(not good) but on stands they soun awesome! Use them with a CC-350m center and Titan rears or mini rears and get ready for a treat. For music they sound great for the size. You can't ask to much from a speaker with a driver smaller than 8" min but these sound bigger to the ear so who care how big they are...

I have a Yamaha RX-V795A Reciever to power it all.

Strength:

Value for dollar-Buy Again Rating

Weakness:

Needs a sub for home theater impact.

I purchase the mini-monitor for $350 two years ago along with a CC350 center and PS1000 sub. I auditioned several sub/sats including Klipsch and Definitive Technology. I did find slightly better sounder speakers elsewhere, but only in the $750-$1000 range.

Proper stands and placement improve things dramatically, but this is a given.

I'm moving these mini's to the rears and buying either monitor 5's or 7's for the front. Taking the step up to a Dolby Digital receiver this Christmas, and Paradigm all-around suits me fine.

I am extremely happy with these Paradigm Mini-Mk I speakers that I purchased a few years ago. They offer excellent crisp highs and a really tight sounding bass, plus they are reasonably priced (about $300). I have a very eclectic taste in music (everything from punk to classical piano). These speakers are great for someone who likes all types of music and doesn't want to spend a lot of money for some really great sounding speakers. I have mine on 24 inch high speaker stands and they sound great connected to my Luxman CD player, JVC VCR, receiver and NEC TV.

After living with the Paradigm Mini-Mk III for almost a year now I have been VERY satisfied. Theses speakers dish out great audio that is smooth and clean with lots of output. They also sound their best with the grills off and well isolated on stands that are filled with sand. Piano comes through very clean and detailed which is an excellent test for most speakers.
