Strength:

Sound quality and incredible value! One of the very best speakers in this price range!

Weakness:

For the price - ABSOLUTELY NONE!

I have only owned these (Bronze B2) for a few weeks and I am not even sure they are fully burned in but I feel compelled to rave about them. First, these are the BEST speakers I have heard at this price point (retail $400/pair) they simply demolish the competition. The sound quality is fantastic, smooth, warm, yet detailed and lively mids with articulate, detailed highs, with just a slight hint of treble bite. Bass is excellent, extending deeper than a lot of other bookshelf speakers (regardless of price!) and there's no mid bass hump like so many other speakers bring. The soundstage is wide and deep and these speakers simply disappear and have no box colorations to hint that you are listening to speakers. The transparency is very good as well. These sound fantastic for a wide variety of music styles, I have yet to find a single genre that these don't handle well, whether jazz, classical, blues, ambient, newage, acoustic, etc. If you're a serious rocker though you might want to look elsewhere. The build quality is Ok, nothing to write home about but the binding posts are high quality 5 way and the speakers can be bi-amped or biwired. I find them to be an easy load for most amps/receivers, I drive them with a 50 wpc Cambridge Audio integrated and it drives the MA's with no problems. Overall I am very impressed with these guys, they have been well reviewed and certainly live up with the hype. I would give these a serious listen along with thier bigger brothers the Silver S1 if you're looking for a pair of excellent value bookshelf speakers under $1000, I think you would be hard pressed to find a better deal unless you buy used, build your own, or get one of the consumer direct speakers. In fact I believe 98% of people would be satisfied with a set of Bronze B2's for many years to come, with no plans to upgrade. It's the remaining 2%, the so called 'audiophiles', who keep the high end companies like Dynaudio and Genesis in business, otherwise these companies would have gone out of business long ago due to brands like Monitor Audio :)

Strength:

very good soundstage and imaging... superb mids and bass, crisp highs

Weakness:

none whatsoever in this price range

When i was using my Mission M72i with my HK 3550 (225)... i was happy with it. But when i heard this speakers (Monitor Audio B2) for the first time, i was blown away... This definitely should be a MUST HAVE! what im also amazed is the price of these babies, very competitive compared to other budget speakers... then i did a comparison with other speakers like the B&W 601... it sounded good but a bit expensive... and i still love the sound of the B2s... then i tested mordaunt-short 912, a bit thin sounding... and with regards to my mission m72i, definitely clearer and better soundstage and imaging... so what i did, i get rid of my mission speakers... when i got my b2, out of the box, then listened to it... i was amazaed coz it sounded like my broken-in missions... then after a few days... the music that comes out are ways apart... B2s are just awesome, the best budget speakers you can have... now my Harman Kardon is actually singing... Just close your eyes and you think actual performance is right in front of you... plus my music preference has expanded.. used to hate jazz and classical... im more of a alternative music guy... now i love any kind of music because of the MA B2... its like there are no speakers, they simply disappear and you can imagine that the performers are right in front of you! the best decision i made since upgrading my reciever from kenwood to Harman Kardon... Definitely a BESTBUY!!!

Strength:

Excellent across a variety of music genres.

Weakness:

None that I have notice, but then I haven't used them that long.

Just bought these speakers after an awesome audition. My other choice was the B&W 601 & KEF Q1 both of which these speakers clearly outperformed. The frequency response is better and they sound more musical and full without losing any clarity. In overall effect, they sounded better than even the B&W 602s. I couldn't be happier. I have to agree with another reviewer in saying that these truly are 'B&W killers'.

Strength:

Warm, well-balanced tonal quality cuited for a broad variety of musical styles. Can be bi-wired if that's your thing, bi-amped if you've got more money than I do.

Weakness:

None at the price/value ratio.

Straight out of the box the Bronze B2s have been terrific. I bought them after choosing them over the new Klipsch RB-25 bookshelf speakers. While the Klipsch have an impressive soundstage and presence, they have a somewhat harsher, thinner sound -- evident most notably on male vocals and classical piano -- while the Bronze B2s are very warm, well-rounded and balanced. I use these as stereo speakers only, I do not use any home theatre setup (FYI I use a JVC D-sereis TV in large part because they have very good built-in speakers). They're paired with a Harman/Kardon 3375 amp, an old but great Sony CD changer and an AudioSource EQ -- though these speakers may sound better without the EQ's intervention. I expect them to get even better as they break in, but they have been excellent from the start.

Strength:

Soundstage fills the room 10X18, looks very high end with grills off, mid base and highs are precise but not overbearing and of course Value Value Value!

Weakness:

None so far.

After 10+ years my old SubSat Boston Acoustics were getting tired. I still have my 10+years old Nak Receiver 3 and thought I would upgrade the weakest link. Read the reviews here and audiophile ravs so I thought I'd give them a try. I was about to buy Polk Audio RSI38 when I popped into my local Sound Advice. They had a sale going on these Monitor Audio Bronze 2's and they were only $40 more than the Polks! Can't say these are better sounding than the Polks but they are definately built better and look a lot better with grills off. I listened to Elvis Costello, Depeche Mode and Bob Marley today and even though the muddyness of unbroken-in spekers shows I can hear the potential. The base is somewhat punchy and the tweeter is a little harsh but that will fade as I break them in. The 6 Ohm is pulling more power out of my old Nak I just hope the Nak holds up long enough so that I can hear the true beauty of these transducers:)

Strength:

Accurate. Big, deep bass for a two bread-loaf size speaker. Pair them with a sub and you will love them, trust me. Well built, too.

Weakness:

Ummm...a bit narrow stage? Make sure you can have a good distance between them (4 foot minimum). Id give them a B- for looks. Cherry finish is no longer available:(

This review is for 2nd generation b2 with ONE port on the front panel: I'm building my first quality system and had already started with a Nakamichi RE-10 reciever. I went out on a limb and bought these speakers sight unheard based on all the rave reviews they got both on this site and in magazines. Set them up with traditional single-wire setup for break-in period and was impressed, but not astounded. After the recommended 60(!) hours I bi-wired one channel, left one channel single, and cranked up Buena Vista social club. The difference between the two channels was unreal. Even with mono source (radio) the bi-wired side had way more presence. Single wire sounds like musicians are in the next room. Bi-wire sits them in your lap. Anyone who did not have these speakers told me that bi-wire wouldn't make a difference. Anyone who tried it loved it. Dispite using a bloody Xbox as a CD source, these speakers reveal nuances lost by lesser speakers. I do not regret the purchase one bit. Thank GOD I didn't buy JBL S38. The only person who could get me these was a custom installer. He said "I could offer any speaker I wanted to my customers. I always recommend monitor audio over brands with more name recognition because they offer sound quality that you could pay two-three times as much for with other brands." 'Nuff said. Sorry, but I never heard the previous generation (two-port) B2, so I can't compare them.
