Worse monitor speakers... At least not my taste!
Very harsh and noisy treble. Undetailed mid. Bass is ok (for the money and size).
Overall, i wouldn't like to trust my mix on to this crap, sorry.

Strength:

Good definition, imaging, neutral presentation and quite smooth overall.
Excellent price/performance ratio.

Weakness:

As expected for the size : lack of low bass and high level dynamics

Having some experience with older M-Audio models I didn't expect much from these mini-monitors, but their sound came as a good surprize for me.

They have the detail and focus of much pricier monitors, very neural across the frequency range, lack of sharp edges from the new tweeter(ever so present in the older range) and proved themselves quite friendly with room placement (proper speaker stands are a must if you want to hear what they're capable of!!!).
They work best with simpler acoustic music (solo instruments, jazz, vocals, etc).
On large scale music they lack the control and definition of costlier models (e.g. Dynaudio monitors), also their absolute loudness is limited and cannot realistically cope with very dynamic passages (an orchestral tutti for example).
But all these limitations are expected due to their size and their price.
Overall they offer a honest presentation (a lot better than what one might expect from a 300 eur. active system) and good musical insight.
A best buy, I'd say!
